  • Finally the Gear room is finished enough to be presentable. Having a decent organized room to store camping gear and equipment in makes it easier to find stuff and plan and pack for trips. I hope you enjoy!

      I did think just that when i first tuned in he was doing a review of pots and pans and cooking gear and he had so much out on his tables in boxes and everywhere . He lift me scratching my head, why but now after watching all of his videos I think ? over a period of time, I truly understand him he loves what he does also he is very lucky to have the ability to turn his ideas into the real deal and he does have some great ideas. even at 75 I am impressed and not once has he tried to sell us a thing that in it's self is refreshing he wants nothing but to help those who are interested . Happy Trails Dick

      @@mikeboone4425 I think reason is not that he wants just to help us. Reason why he does it is that he wants to share his interest with someone that has same interests. We are social creatures and do not want to be lonely in stuff we are doing.

    I was out to lunch yesterday with my best mate, Paddy (who I have camped with many times) and I was telling him how much I enjoyed your videos. I told him about your shovaxe invention and it was nice to see it again.

    Wow super awesome survival man cave. Super organized nice and neat. I bet you've had some mice get into some of your stuff and make holes. Good idea on hanging the sleeping bags. I would think it would make it harder for them to want to make a home in hanging stuff. You can buy at garage sales clothing racks, even some that spin circular racks all kinds of designs. I guess you don't have a musty basement or you would not want to store much material in it if you did. I'm impressed just how neat and organized it all is. Great job on organization. Better late then never. You have enough to equip to supply immediate family and cousins if the shit hits the fan, and replacements for when they wear out. Now all you need is a place to store dehydrated food and water. Then you're set with piece of mind to complete the man cave survival/camping equipment. Great job in how you designed the shelves to organize it all. I love, love the axe design. Is it your own axe hanging cabinet design with two small blocks to hold each?

    • @Reallybigmonkey1
      @Reallybigmonkey1  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I had mice in the past but luckily they never damaged anything. Yes, its got heat and air down there like the rest of the house so no problem with dampness. Funny you mentioned outfitting others, not only is this gear for myself and Nick but whenever my Dad or brother comes along I outfit them from this room too. Yes, I designed that axe cabinet. Them little blocks just have a U groove cut in them and the axe rests in the groove. Thanks for watching

I realize a lot of the items have individual uses but if you could only pick 1 item , what would be your preferred !! You would have to knock a wall down to display everything !! Poor Nick only has 2 little boxes !! Yes you need to do several spin off videos just from this one. No rest for you !! Thank you for your time spent on videos for us !!

    David,
    Your ability to organize has surpassed so many peoples wildest expectations! Your passion and respect for your gear have inspired me to clean up what I have been blessed with and enjoy the gifts and supplies I have to use and share with others. Your sincerity hits # 1 in my book! There is no doubt that your life and passion is the outdoors. Never stop doing what you love! You are real and unique... like I've said before...a breath of fresh air!

      Thanks Karen, I'm glad you liked it and how I do things! Ive lived in this house for 18 years and this room started to become a mess 10 years ago. My motivation was being sick of not being able to find anything! In the future I hope to do this to my sewing room, fishing room and shop. Thanks for watching

    Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I invited my wife to watch this video and you are correct, she thinks I may not be as crazy as previously thought. I too have a lot of gear especially since I am involved with various sports i.e. scuba diving, canoeing, kayaking, camping, fishing, shooting, etc., etc., etc! I am drawing up plans to build a barn and my hope is to have a room like yours where I can organize my gear properly. While watching your video and thinking of my own gear and storage problems, it was evident you spent a great deal of time organizing your equipment. Some day.................if I live long enough..........I too will be organized!
    Great video, Thanks again!

    I feel like I have just taken a tour of a survivalists museum... are we supposed to leave a donation in the box by the door? Dave, 30 years of gear... you are one talented packrat. I would know because it takes one to know one. I just wish all my collections were more like yours. In all seriousness this video has reminded me that many of your self made inventions could be huge hits in the outdoorsmen market. You really have a talent for coming up with some brilliant ideas. If you every decide to have a yard sale let me know before it happens so I can have a first shot at everything. Thank you sir for sharing it really was amazing to see everything in an organized setting!

    • @Reallybigmonkey1
      @Reallybigmonkey1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL! Well I guess after 30 years of collecting it is like a museum of Dave! I bet a lot of my homemade stuff would sell but right now the entire market is flooded with so much outdoor junk I have no idea what kinda volume of sales it would generate. If the day come to ever sell this stuff I'll probably let every one know on TH-cam. I'm glad you liked it all brother, Thanks for watching

    Love, love, love your room! Although, it's not quite an ultimate man cave until you get your couches and chairs out from under the stuff and available to use. A man needs a place to stretch out amongst his equipment and just take in the magnificence of it all and then maybe drift off to sleep for a well deserved nap, planning his next trip. With love ❤ from sunny 🌅 Arizona 🌵.

    • @suzisaintjames
      @suzisaintjames 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reallybigmonkey1, truth is some of the boxes you showed us were only 3/4 full. I bet if you did some repacking, you could get that couch cleared off. My only question is where would you put the big screen tv/dvd so you can watch those Rambo movies?... P.s. as much time as you spend down there I'm surprised you don't already have a percolator and box of donuts already set up. 😉

    I love all the racks you've made. One thing about having everything in sight is that you're less likely to buy duplicates. Once you get things a little more fined tuned (organizing your equipment is great for rainy days or evenings), consider using plastic tubs instead of cardboard boxes. I have the clear plastics ones so I can kind of see what's inside, but I can also see the list of things through the plastic. They are not as heavy duty as the opaque ones, or even the coolers, but after a while you get to know about where each box is and being semi-transparent, you get good at grabbing the right one. Although the tubs are waterproof and stackable, I would still make a rack or shelving unit for them making it easier to pull out... As you know, the one you want is always on the bottom if you have them stacked 4 high, shifting tubs can get old real fast. And the weight can deform the lids of the lower ones. Watch for sales and get a few at a time. The colors of the lids change from year to year so if you want to color code you boxes, bite the bullet and get all you need at once... cause that color probably won't come around again. ❤🌅🌵

    • @Reallybigmonkey1
      @Reallybigmonkey1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I'm glad you like them Suzi. Good idea on the plastic bins. We have all our Halloween and Christmas stuff in bins. I just got so used to cardboard boxes over the years I never changed.

    • @suzisaintjames
      @suzisaintjames 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Reallybigmonkey1, the only reason I suggested the plastic bins is because the transparency really makes a difference and because you mentioned that the basement floods. A cardboard box can draw moisture from a wet wooden shelf whilst a plastic bin will stay nice and dry. 💜🌞🌵
