Ty for my crown molding download! Your videos are great, I have so much to do with my house. I don't have money for a bradnailer is it even possible to do it by hammer? Tia for answering! 🙂
@@ThriftDiving I'm a never-done-a-diy person but I think I need to bite the bullet and start doing things at my house. Hard to get good help these days, or maybe I'm just feeling cheap. Either way, I'm looking forward to some info.
@@lindacsmith13 Oh my! We got to get a paint brush and a power tool in your hand, Lindy!!! You will enjoy my friend's bathroom makeover that I'm posting on Sunday for the Premiere watch party! She also had NEVER done a DIY project. Never even painted a wall before. But by the end of her bathroom makeover, she was excited to get started on her bedroom, which we are halfway done! Once you get over that first project anxiety, the excitement for the next project comes quickly and easily. :)
I love how underwhelmed she was by the "Kill all the lawyers," letter! I would've spent a week googling to see if the previous owner murdered anyone or not!!!
Hello Serena. I was there when you updated those spaces, we'll I watched the videos 🤭 You gave been an inspiration to me and to many other people, especially the ladies! Many blessings!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽💐❣️
Ahhhhh.....wow, you've been around for a long time! I feel like my boys' bathroom is definitely in need another makeover. It's been 10 years. It's hard to believe! And than you SO much for sticking around for that amount of time. You are so sweet!!
So glad I was able to watch this video.. I didn't realize that tile could be painted over. Good to know for future projects. Love the new look! You did an awesome job, Serena !
Thanks! I wish I could have taken pics of that broad and batten treatment, but for some reason, I didn't. My tip is to make sure you use PVC boards for it. MDF is cheaper but will definitely swell and get destroyed by the water and moisture.
It is!!! I can't wait until you see it! I'll be posting the video on Sunday evening at 5 p.m. so come back to watch for the Premiere and live "Watch Party"! :)
Great question. I wish I had taken pics and videos of that! I measured the length of the wall and divided in equal numbers, and then took PVC boards from home Depot (which are waterproof) and used a nail gun to adhere them to the wall. Construction adhesive is helpful, too, so they don't pull away from the drywall. Then use a bit of caulking around the seams, then paint over everything.
What did you use to refinish your shower and will it peel? I'm also interested in painting floor tile. Any product suggestions? Been watching you for a long time & you've inspired me alot. Thanks.
Yessss! You can use Bathworks refinishing kits! In fact, Bathworks is what you'll see in this week's bathroom makeover reveal that I did in my friend's bathroom. You can see how I used it on my fiberglass shower. It still looks good and isn't peeling! The key is preparation. You HAVE to take care in the prep work before refinishing it. See how I did my shower here and see the update: th-cam.com/video/HXGXpuvAynQ/w-d-xo.html
Hi Serena, thank you for the video. I have been renovating a very old house and I am now ready to do the bathrooms. What did you use to remove that old-style wallpaper? I am having a lot of difficulty with my wallpaper removal. Any feedback or advice will be most appreciated. Again, thank you and best wishes.
Oh, you poor, poor thing! Lol. Wallpaper removeral is my least favorite thing ever! It's so tedious. My advice is to get one of those wallpaper steam removal tools like the one I used: (www.amazon.com/dp/B09Z56XT24/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_apa_gl_i_BBDVWWQYANFD11K0WHES?linkCode=ml2&tag=thridivi03-20). That's an affiliate link, by the way. Next, I would watch this video I did to remove the wallpaper and repair the walls with joint compound and sanding them smooth before painting. I covered that in more detail in this video when I did my closet, which had wallpaper: th-cam.com/video/Thv1BBPaYvM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PFAKNgtoR6JdKqOQ
How do you deal with the yucky feel of chalk paint on your surfaces? It doesn't have that smooth feel when you wipe your hand over the surface like satin latex.
That's why a good topcoat of wax is nice! Have you ever sanded and then buffed wax onto chalk paint? OMG, it's sooooo smooth! Check out this video I did some time ago and how just a light sanding and wax made it feel really, really nice! th-cam.com/video/DlouOL2hR_E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=eITTrclTxLGZ_tFy&t=1357
@@lynnc2875 If that works for you, go for it, for sure. I don't particularly like satin or gloss paint, depending on what you paint, because it will get gummy and peeling. At least, from my experience, even with sanding and priming. It was a desk I painted yeeeaaaars ago, and where hubby's arms continually rubbed against it, the paint just started peeling over the years, and it was a semi-gloss paint. But a bookcase that won't get much wear and tear, it could work.
@@ThriftDiving Oh your humidity level must have been above 60%. Paint won't cure at that level. I took had an experience where I painted the bathroom with humidity at 80%. Twenty years later I could scrape it off with my fingernail. Learned my lesson, to never paint in the summer.
@@lynnc2875 That could be what it was, for sure! I think our house DOES get really humid. I have always said that if I had the money, I would get a whole house dehumidifier! And OMG....20 years later?!?!?! LOL!!!!
