    I am a self taught mechanic of over 30 years in the field. Helping people save money and stay safe on the road is what I am here for. If I can pass that along in my videos, that would make me feel even more accomplished. I am rather old school and do not really do things by the book, for this reason, I do not claim to make "Instructional" videos. My videos are for entertainment purposes only. One of the best videos because this smart mechanic knows that If you're going to replace the front struts you should also replace the Upper Arm Control. Because that is where most squeak's come from. You never put Fine Wine in an old Flask!

    Thank for that Upper control arm trick of marking it brother now I know a trick to do! The last time I did it I tightened it roughly to where the suspension sits with the tires on it was a bit tricky but now I saw a cool trick!

      @macdonmar I do my newer videos a little different and show torque specs and wrench/socket sizes now. This was one of my beginning videos.
      Ive tried to take into consideration with what viewers say they want to see and have adjusted my editing to better suit everyone the best I can I think.
      Im not a camera guy or editor and Im actually rather camera shy lol. I originally started these videos to show my clients my work but its becoming more than that the more I do and listen to viewers.
      Thank you!!

    Great how-to video. I have watched a bunch of videos on this topic and this is the best one. The only thing to improve is to add the socket sizes in a caption for each of the parts to make it super simple for others to follow. Fantastic video, thank you.

    I rewatched it and I picked up a few tips on how to get the strut out without struggle. I am going to be doing this job on my jeep soon and its good to have an idea of what I'm doing. The only difference is I'm going to be changing the bearings too.

    Here is a secret. Remove the plastic fender well and the upper control arm bolts are a piece of cake to remove. Lots of room then.

    Great video. So much good info. Only question is. I forgot to mark the upper control arm placement. Is there a way to get that measurement.

    • @MegaMilesBen
      @MegaMilesBen  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Youll need to get it to ride height.
      What I do is get it all together but leave the upper arm back bolts loose. Then use a jack under the lower arm and raise it up to the point where the vehicle is about to lift off my lift/jackstand.

    • @MegaMilesBen
      @MegaMilesBen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really as long as you wait till the vehicle is on the ground to tighten/torque the bolts.
      Theres 2 reasons I do markings...
      1) It makes it easier to remember the position of the upper arm so you can tighten and torque it without putting the wheel back on and dropping the car first.
      2) Im not set up for alignments in my shop so its very important to me that I get the alignment as close as possible for my clients to go in for an alignment. Many have text me back telling me they didnt even need the alignment done tthanks to my marks.

    Why’d the battery and battery tray have to come out? Just remove the fender liner. Way easier and faster to access the UCA bolts.

    • @MegaMilesBen
      @MegaMilesBen  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Id rather spend a couple minutes removing the battery than 15 or so fighting with all the wire hold downs and such on the fender liner personally and Im already removing the fuse box so just makes sense to go that route and is quite simple. Gives more room to work with as well.

      I dont provide the parts so I don't know which exact ones they were without going back into my records.
      Theyre by Duralast, I do know that much.

    Would this repair solve for swaying motion (side to side )of car over bumps ?

    • @MegaMilesBen
      @MegaMilesBen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it could play into that. Theres more that could as well though. You shiuld have it diagnosed and pinpoint what you need to do first so youre not doing a guessing game with it.

    how do you like those duralast struts?

    • @MegaMilesBen
      @MegaMilesBen  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a clients car. Ive installed quite a bit of the duralast brand struts. I dont hear any complaints about them but that doesnt always mean anything.
      My clients provide their own parts so if theyre not happy with them, they wouldnt necessarily tell me.
