The car body is meant to crumple more to absorb more crash energy into a greater depth: to save the occupants from a very harsh damaging Jolt. So harder, less car body damage not always better. It is more complicated than that. For me Landcruiser #1; because Toyota has overall - better value, better resale, better reliability, better parts pricing, better support, better durability, better cars to keep long term (like even 20yrs) usually without very expensive repairs if you maintain well. Well MB is typically better at crash structure, although not as good as some people think from "solid clunk sound when doors are closed". But Toyota is famous & studied by Uni's for the Toyota Production System & more consistent quality, esp for the price; with their emphasis on reliability & durability & value - whereas of course MB relies more on "prestige". I like many people trust & buy Toyota's; they are the most trusted brand by new & used buyers. You get better value. You are more so buying better value engineering than say the more gimmicky MB; more about "let's squeeze as much money from the sale, service & parts" from customers as we can; MB buyers are in marketing called "aspiring buyers"; aspire to values from the badge that don't really have anything to do with reality.

Toyota's win many car awards; MB usu' only win awards if it is a Prestige or high price award.
