    Excellent detailed information and going through the multiplex of configurations.
    Even putting away the Firebox Freestyle has a method! The fire grate is placed in the best orientation, so positioned to deploy the next time.

    Excellent video. Through trial and error with the Trangia burners the position you suggest confirms my understanding of the optimum position. Additional bonus is you get little sooting . If you position Trangia burner lower using bio ethanol the sooting is terrible.

    Get your water boiling container and put a clean brown paper bag inside. Then firmly place charcoal inside. Not too firm so as to crush.
    Then cover so you can put the lid on.
    Then use melted candle wax to paint or dip the whole package.
    It should be able to fit inside the container again..
    I find charcoal is fantastic for the times you are caught in a rain storm for hours in the tent. You can safely use charcoal at the door of the tent for drying out and cooking.

    One trick is to use charcoal.
    Charcoal is fantastic.
    What I do is make lots of small packets of charcoal. About a pint size. Wrapped up in waxed paper to make it very water proof.
    The waxed paper serves as a good fire starter in the rain.
    The many waxed parcels are absolutely rain proof.

    Great tips! Very helpful. Do you prefer the Ti or the stainless in this stove? Have you noticed any difference in the performance, ease of cleaning, maintenance, etc.?

    • @offcourseoutdoors8366
      @offcourseoutdoors8366  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I like both equally. The SS is noticeably thicker and heavier than the Ti, gives it a more solid feel. They are both impeccably made but the thinner Ti does not have the solid feel like the SS. They both perform exactly the same but noticed that the SS cleans up a bit easier. The Ti has a matt finish, so soot tends to stick to it more. I find that rubbing off the soot using vegetable oil cleans it up well. Hope this answers your question, cheers!

    Great videos. How do you think the freestyles will hold up to torture testing or compared to the gen 2 5" & titanium for hot fires, durability etc... Will the grates and grills burn out like titanium over 400'F or something like that? Just wondering how tough they are or if they are best for cooking like the 5" ti and 5" ss is better for big fires?

    • @offcourseoutdoors8366
      @offcourseoutdoors8366  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have used the Freestyle with many different fuel sources and at high temps. I have had no issues with the SS but have experienced a little warping with the Ti since its thinner. The G2 5” is a beast so there is no comparison. Both stoves including the Nano can take what ever you give it. Hope this helps, cheers!

    My mistake then is that I always have the sun to my right shoulder when I put it together. Now I know to have the long sides running NE to SE all will be much clearer. Fortunately the FB nano Ti that I use most, doesn’t have an orientation problem built in. Extremely important! Thanks.

    Just got my kit and finding it difficult to fit everything into the black case- can you fit all your grades plus two firebox into one case and if so how do you tesselate it?

    • @offcourseoutdoors8366
      @offcourseoutdoors8366  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my "DECONSTRUCTING FIREBOX FREESTYLE - 6 & 8 PANEL" video, at the 5:06 minute mark, you can fold it in this fashion so it can slide into the black case. There are alot of grates that come with the kit so expect some bulging of the case or you can just remove what you dont need. Let me know if I answered your question correctly, cheers!
