The greatest entertainer and singer ever in secular music....period!!! My favorite cover of this song. Elvis and MJ were inspired by him. You would love the live version of "Baby Workout" by him.
He was quite simply the most versatile, and arguably, the greatest singer in the history of American popular music.
Have always loved Jackie Wilson's music! And this is a great rendition of a classic! And Angela, I enjoyed your singing too!🤗
Great reaction. Nice song. Jackie is best remembered by “Higher and Higher,” which had Motown’s house band The Funk Brothers. It is high energy.
Elvis paid Jackie’s medical bills when he had had his heart attack!!?was in Elvis will in case Elvis died before Jackie!! The horrible rumors about Elvis were horrific he was not a racist!!! Jackie what a talent we ❤ you Jackie!!!
Wilson and Presley were very good friends. Presley went out of his way to meet him
Hi Ms. D., A great rendition of a great song.. Mr. Jackie is a mover/ dancer, young Michael Jackson used to watch his moves when he could.. ♠W.G.
Nice version of a classic song, an early one from Jackie Wilson. Love his 'I get the Sweetest Feeling'-Colin Ward
No matter what version of this song my eyes tear up...
Whispers (gettin louder) by Jackie , 60s soul perfection
His voice is amazing ! I think less is more for me . He is very talented .Just to much musical gymnastics for me !
I like your reaction .
Jackie had such a great voice others wrote songs about him.
You'll never hear a song, ANY song, sung better than this.
He was so good. I see other suggestions, but there aren't any wrong ones. Everything he did was classic. He could sing and dance. My personal favorites were: Night., Lonely Teardrops, To be loved, Whispers, Doggin' around, Your love Keeps lifting me higher. I could go on. :)
Very nice reaction.
Takes me back to the days of taking the little woman to the picture show at the Bijou...
Good job on singing their young lady I like that one and also higher and higher
This video is actually from 1965. Jackie did record Danny Boy in 1958 on his very first album, "He's So Fine". The 1958 version was more "traditional" in presentation...but still has that Jackie Wilson stamp. The 1965 version was more of an R&B arrangement. This is the 1958 version th-cam.com/video/7ooi8_Et6I0/w-d-xo.html
There was and always will be only one Jackie Wilson.
Jackie Wilson was One of Michael Jackson's Idol, When he won Best R7B Album for Thriller he dedicated the award to Jackie Wilson. Where He said Some Entertainers make the path and are innovators. He Said Jackie Wilson was a Wonderful entertainer. Jackie had just past away. It's On You Tube. Please Check out Jackie Wilson performing "To Be Loves, Lonely Teardrops and At Last on Ed Sullivan show in the 50;s. He also performed "Wok Out" on Shinding Show in the early 50's they are both on you tube. His Performance of "Workout" was very entertaining that's why they called him "Mr. Excitement". He even performed "Lonely Teardrops: on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1960's after one of his girlfriends shot him after she discovered him with another woman and they couldn't remove one of the bullets because it was close to his spin. I had a read a book written on Jackie Wilson called "Lonely Teardrops". He was born in Detroit and his cousin was Mr. Levi Stubbs who was the lead singer of The Four Tops. He Also was a Juvenile Delinquent and a Gang Member and Former Boxer. He and Berry Gordy were friends and Berry wrote "To Be Loved". "Lonely Teardrops". "Reet Petite" before Berry Gordy started Motown Records. Soon as i Can I'm going to join your Patron Page. You are a Beautiful and very Intelligent Young Lady and I Like what your doing. He Was a Great Singer who could sing Operatic Notes like on "At Last".
"Mr Excitement"- I grew up listening to him in the early '60s. Check out "Baby Workout."
Continue to R.I.P Mr Jackie Wilson ❤ thanks for this one very much 😊
Interesting song! He has a very soulful voice and he sings with purpose! He has other hits that are more fast ⏩ paced and fun to listen to! I recommend Higher And Higher! Until whenever!
"Lonely Teardrops" - my favorite song from the 50s/60s.

To Be Loved (1958)
That's Why I Love You So 1959
Sto Digging Me Around (1960)😊
They don't call him Mr. Excitement for nothing!
Jackie was the most complete singer of his era. He could sing damn near anything from rockabilly to (almost) light opera, with gospel and pop in between. Sam Cooke has the influential style of any R&R/R&B singer in the modern era, but it's Jackie's stage act is the most copied. Anyone that plays with a microphone stand or sings while doing splits and such stole it from Jackie. Dick Clark called him the most talented singer he'd ever seen. Try Jackie doing the live black and white version (from the old Ed Sullivan Show) of "To Be Loved" and the lip synced version of "Lonely Teardrops" from the again, the old Dick Clarke show, where you'll get to see more of his incredible range and unbelievable stage performances.
I'm wondering why my dad never mentioned this singer, because he Loved, and had the records of many singers from this Era and this style.
Sam Cooke also does a great version of this song.
I didn't like the song, but i listened just to hear him sing.
Angela, for once I can't agree with you. While it's absolutely true that Jackie Wilson has a great voice, and he certainly tried to put his own stamp on it, I personally just don't think it worked. He departed from the beautiful tune way too much. I wish he had sung it straight because with his talent it would have been 100 times better. I'd really like to have heard that. Just my opinion.
I know his voice and I think he may have had a more popular songs, this one is not a song for me
Well, I'm going to be in a minority here and say I'm not crazy about this version of the song. It was a very talented performance by Jackie, but it's just not for me.
Hey opinions are like assholes everyone has one 🤷🏽♂️
No! Jackie completely destroys the plaintive quality of the song; indeed, he doesn't understand the lyrics or the song's intent. What a pretenious mess.
Oh shut up, you wouldn't know music if it sat on your face. Music with a k 🤦🏽♂️
