I'm so excited to add this video to my collection right next to the terrible quality one I have with the Mitsubishi version of the video I downloaded 15 years ago.
I remember when this song came out...I was 20 and thought it was a real jam. But man...what the hell did I know about life at 20? Fuck all, that's what. Now I'm 42 and this song hits like a freight train running down hill at top speed.
I’m 26 and this was one of the first songs I have a conscious memory of being on the radio. I look at all the comments of people in their 40’s and 50’s and truly envy the time you lived in, I would do anything to have grown up and had heard music like this as a teenager/adult. Love reading the stories, I’ll try to remember that I can make the best of today even if it’s in the present..
Eighties and nineties race wasn't even a thing, it was a wonderful epoch! Economy was going good and equality for all was everywhere and everybody just enjoyed one another as people and awesome entertainment like this!🤗🥰🤗
I was a teenager when this hit. This video and mood felt like a ephemeral splash of water in a desert, it sucked until I went to a techno music festival and didn't feel alone, not just because all the weekend dance radio stations didn't play stuff like this (nor did I hope for them to, even though it was on VH1 even then).
I am almost Forty Nine. My first time listening 09 February Twenty Twenty-Three I traveled through time and space In a matter of minutes memories flooded down my cheeks with hot boogers. The happy trees help.
Besides the romantic and nostalgic theme, I really like how the dude just goes, and dance because he feels like it, without caring if he'll be mocked, seen as a weirdo, or worse by the other pedestrians. One of the best music videos ever and the song is just timeless.
And he doesn’t acknowledge the speculation from the bystanders whatsoever. I’m sure his reasons for dancing go far deeper than her just not showing up.
I woke up needing this song, because I needed someone while I was asleep and then I woke up… She’s always with me but never really here. I dream of the one girl I’ve ever really loved, and she seems so real in dream state that I swear sometimes I could feel her, but it’s merely an illusion: The Cruelest Illusion. There’s nothing like a dream of unrequited love to ruin my day before it starts.
turning 40 this year, used to dance the night away to this song. Me and my girl at the time would be out every chance we got at the clubs. We were young and free, my first love. Happily married now to my beautiful wife with kids and all. Hearing this brought back lots of memories, hope she is out there doing her best. Here's to Days gone by, Amy.
@Adrianna George nah. This man straight up disrespecting his wife and the mother of his children. Sitting here in the TH-cam comments reminiscing about a past fling.
That’s crazy me and my ex heard this song in the Mitsubishi commercial as well. She’d do the “ dance” while playing this song when we’d be coming home from wherever our exploits would take us late at night
I was at Chronis (where the video was filmed) East L.A. last week and he is still dancing there , once a year around mid June he shows up and dances all day
This is quite possibly my favourite music video ever. The track, the story, the visuals. They just all align so perfectly. Still get misty eyed watching it. Simply superb. Oh, and by god that man can dance.
I thought it was just me. They nailed it, for sure. The slow-mo spin moves are so dope. I dig it when the guy at the end asks the woman out for coffee. Genius.
This song tugs at my heart strings every time I hear it. Being 50, I really, really regret the one lost love. I will never, ever have that woman back, no matter what. Being young, you have the entire world in front of you. Then, one day, its largely behind you. Live you life, and love.
I feel you on losing that one love. 😕 I lost my first fiance to a plane crash, met and dated other women. Attempted to have a second fiance but when ever my second fiance acted up, I would grow cold 🥶😤 because my heart ❤ was with the first fiance that is 6 feet under.
@@katherinekilgore5097 yes I know it’s 90s vibe though and honestly the adult years all blend together after awhile. It’s my youth. Still in my 20s in 2002. Feels like yesterday to be honest 🥲❤️
My favourite part of this music video is the end of it. Although the dancing guy didn't get his lover back (outside of his own mind), the two middle aged people who were watching him all day might've found love over a cup of coffee. It's almost as if the dancing broke through their jadedness and made them believe in the possibility of love again. ❤💚💙
Glad to know I’m not the only one that has such strong sentimental value to this song. I love reading everyone’s comments and stories, the 90’s were a great era.
In high school this was just a song and a track off a "Best of" genre cd. Now, 20 years later it's a song about the one that got away who no matter what whether you're married, single or dating you think about someone you once knew who you would do anything to have back. The video is the essence of loss, regret and moving on with life but not really moving on. Like the people in the video say: He does it every year in hopes she'll come back. 20 years later it's a song that will have you thinking about the one you met at a club who you shared a brief summer with, like myself, who sadly they're married now and moved on but you will always hold those best times with you.
I got married at 19 in 2008, divorced legally in 2017 and seperated in 2014. She was 6 years older than me, but obviously things didn't work out and I'm obviously a piece of shit.
I’m 41 years old and damn I get in my feelings everytime I hear this song, this song takes me back to the early 2000’s when all my friends were still ALIVE,we were all so young, partying, having fun,and not a care in the world….so many great memories and good times.
I’m turning 39 next month. Years went by and this song is already more than 20 yrs old and I’m not the same person I was when it came out. And although I understand that many things changed for better, I miss being young.
I feel you on that loss, I'm 42 and I'll be 43 next month, I've lost so many friends and family but I just keep looking for healthy ways to cope with the loss and remember those who I have lost and the impact they have made on me.
@@MrNajibrazak I'm w/ ya there ... odd that there's a distinct difference for those of us in our late 40s for this song/video than those in their early 40s.

This song is so nostalgic. Reminds me of early 2000s evenings. Palm trees. Riding in a car w the top down. Perfect amounts of melancholy, paradise and longing. Can anyone recommend similar songs that fit this vibe?
'Cloud Nine' by Jamiroquai. You won't regret it, I promise. Fits that vibe perfectly! Also? Try 'Seven Days in Sunny June' by Jamiroquai, and 'Electric Mistress' by Jamiroquai. 😘
@cruisingscenesandtakingbea4197 Seriously, try that Jamiroquai song I mentioned above, 'Cloud Nine'. Has that same kind of summer sunset, melancholy and longing vibe the original poster mentioned that 'Days Go By' does. Promise.
Definitely. I never really paid attention to back in the day because I just thought it was a guy dancing and just loved the song, but in looking at it now and seeing a story to it's a really cool simple concept and actually goes with the song. Some videos over do it imagery and has very little to do with the song.
@@johnburke5017 I think the ghost of her showed up, he saw her, felt peace and then walked off into the sunset feeling content like his younger self. The energy of his younger self is what you're seeing walk away. They gave a hint this is a once a year ritual for him. He does it so he can conjure her up and see her again. They drop hints she could've died that one day she didn't show up. So it's why her ghost is in her same clothes or not older. I'm into spiritual and metaphysical stuff so this make sense on a metaphysical level, not on the surface though.
@@rashb3994 Thanks, rash. Very same here - wasn't over enthusiastic about the song, meh'd over the video, back then. Now, though. Maybe' it's that I'm now about the age of the man dancing? Here's another 'keep going' song that had nothing to do with that one, and I swear I'm not going through a stage of where I need such songs - this one popped into my head two evenings ago after not hearing it for over 20 years. th-cam.com/video/T33JAlkznTI/w-d-xo.html
I guess the message in this song is a universal one that transcends time and language as well. I'll always remember her, it's bittersweet and I wish things could have been different, but I'm grateful I got to know her at all. I think many of us here and perhaps billions around the world have a similar story and feel a similar way about somebody special to them, I'll always love this song for that reason, much love to anyone who may be reading this, you are awesome and I wish you all the best in the days to come.

Now, 20 years later, im seeing the 17-19 year olds I work with talk about and do all the things I was into, im pretty jealous. Wish I could go back and do it all over again. Time flies, live your life every moment, take every chance, reach out to opportunity, and let there be nothing to regret.

The part that resonates with me is how the boy and the girl observers meet, share the story...and then plan to go together for coffee.
Another relationship possibly starting during a ceremony to try and summon a lost love.
Ditto. It has taught me to count my blessings. I took for granted what I had then, but realize it now. Be greatful for what you have (and enjoy the small things in life) before time makes you.

This is so nostalgic. This song hits different now that I'm in my 30's. This will be forever my jam.
Cuz its sick.
PERFECT music video. Study this, people.
Now listen to "on my mind" by Diplo
♥️♥️ I'm with you on that one, 31 years old and still love it just as much!
I'm 35 , remember this song, i'm 20 tonight
My first time listening
09 February Twenty Twenty-Three
I traveled through time and space
In a matter of minutes memories flooded down my cheeks with hot boogers. The happy trees help.
I am 45 I used to dance like that guy with this song. Great memories !!!
Most ppl envy not living I those times. Same like you I grew up with all this music
Besides the romantic and nostalgic theme, I really like how the dude just goes, and dance because he feels like it, without caring if he'll be mocked, seen as a weirdo, or worse by the other pedestrians. One of the best music videos ever and the song is just timeless.
His eyes are set on something of bigger value. ✈
Some people go to a Cemetery to memorialize their loves ones. Once a year he dances to memorialize the loss of his love. 💔
And he doesn’t acknowledge the speculation from the bystanders whatsoever. I’m sure his reasons for dancing go far deeper than her just not showing up.
Indeed, but I would add that he is doing it out of longing, of desperation, of despair, of missing her, of wanting her... without her.
Awesome story.
Fuck Amy, she isn't the mother of your kids or your wife. What is wrong with you man.
@Adrianna George nah. This man straight up disrespecting his wife and the mother of his children. Sitting here in the TH-cam comments reminiscing about a past fling.

This
And thanks to that commercial I bought my Mitsubishi Spyder lol
That’s crazy me and my ex heard this song in the Mitsubishi commercial as well. She’d do the “ dance” while playing this song when we’d be coming home from wherever our exploits would take us late at night

Impossible, he caught Covid.
This song has been with me for decades. Yet it feels it was only yesterday.
You got that right. Timeless, particularly with that bass & beat. Definitely one of my all time favorite songs.
To me, two decades ago pretty much *was* only yesterday.... it's 4 or 5 decades ago that I miss...
Found this video by accident, had totally forgotten about this song. Was like a slap in the face thinking about the days when this was new, loved it.
Not sure if people understand just how poetic and powerful the music video is
Man. I can’t believe it’s 2023 and this song is still great. I forgot how awesome the video was. 😂
Say thanks to Gta 5
This is quite possibly my favourite music video ever. The track, the story, the visuals. They just all align so perfectly. Still get misty eyed watching it. Simply superb. Oh, and by god that man can dance.
Totally agree! This has been one of my top music videos for nearly 20 years now! Love the song, story, visuals and dance moves!
I thought it was just me. They nailed it, for sure. The slow-mo spin moves are so dope. I dig it when the guy at the end asks the woman out for coffee. Genius.
Yeah misty eyed 😔
Perfection on every level
I'm not creating anything anymore because you know who. Enjoy your profits boys.
my grandpa died yesterday, and now this song has a whole new meaning for me.
same with my dad....
This song tugs at my heart strings every time I hear it. Being 50, I really, really regret the one lost love. I will never, ever have that woman back, no matter what. Being young, you have the entire world in front of you.
Then, one day, its largely behind you. Live you life, and love.
I get it, I’m there too yet I’m 39. I know I’ll never have that love ever again. Wistful...
Better to have loved, and lost... To never have loved that deep at all. Cherish that lost love, my friend.
@@tojiroh I do. Every day :)
I feel you on losing that one love. 😕 I lost my first fiance to a plane crash, met and dated other women. Attempted to have a second fiance but when ever my second fiance acted up, I would grow cold 🥶😤 because my heart ❤ was with the first fiance that is 6 feet under.
Love is the greatest gift of all!
This gets more relevant every time I listen to this song.
As the days go by?
This song came out a couple years after my Dad passed from cancer. When I heard it back in the day it reminded me of him. Still does.

I’m 50, it’s 2024, and this is still my favourite video of all time. I just love it. I think cause I get nostalgia for both the 80s and the 90s 😂❤❤❤
This was in 2002. Great song though
I'm 55 and still jam to that! I remember when it hit the club I was bartending at!
I live next to that burger joint. I watch this video every time I eat there or it comes up.

90s? This song came out in 2002
@@saulthechicanootaku still reminds me of euro dance in the 90s. Great era!
Wonderfully said!
noooooooooo I hate it when thingsmakeme think of her

I’m 41 years old and damn I get in my feelings everytime I hear this song, this song takes me back to the early 2000’s when all my friends were still ALIVE,we were all so young, partying, having fun,and not a care in the world….so many great memories and good times.
I feel you bro.
I’m turning 39 next month. Years went by and this song is already more than 20 yrs old and I’m not the same person I was when it came out. And although I understand that many things changed for better, I miss being young.
I feel you on that loss, I'm 42 and I'll be 43 next month, I've lost so many friends and family but I just keep looking for healthy ways to cope with the loss and remember those who I have lost and the impact they have made on me.
i just turned 48. this song hits harder if it describes u at this age.
i wish i can still keep on dancing like that to see her again.

This song is so nostalgic. Reminds me of early 2000s evenings. Palm trees. Riding in a car w the top down. Perfect amounts of melancholy, paradise and longing. Can anyone recommend similar songs that fit this vibe?
How about Owl City's "Good Time?" I heard it during passing period when I was in middle school and also has the elements.
'Cloud Nine' by Jamiroquai. You won't regret it, I promise. Fits that vibe perfectly! Also? Try 'Seven Days in Sunny June' by Jamiroquai, and 'Electric Mistress' by Jamiroquai. 😘
This song is a league of its own. I’ve never really found anything that matches this vibe. It’s just its own thing.

@@johnburke5017 The video jumps time between the young and old self, and perhaps the dream. Not sure what you are caught up on.
I don't relate to the lost-love aspect as much as it is a 'keep going' aspect. Here's another 'keep going' song that had nothing to do with that one, and I swear I'm not going through a stage of where I need such songs - this one popped into my head two evenings ago after not hearing it for over 20 years. th-cam.com/video/T33JAlkznTI/w-d-xo.html
