Lichen is not sick looking. It is not feeding on your trees. It is using them as a place to sit. (Can also grow on rocks.) Lichen will not grow where air pollution is bad so it is an indicator that you have good air quality. Smile it's a good thing!

I have also started napping but recently discovered it was in part due to a lack of vitamin D thanks to spending so much more time indoors because of the COVID changes. I bought the cheapest vitamin D supplement at the local supermarket and wow, no more naps, so much more energy, it was very surprising. I just have to remember not to take it after lunch time otherwise I'm awake until 2am!

We have finally scrimped and saved to get the cash to repair the siding on our home (hubby is unable to do the work due to a back injury), and in the time we started until now, the price has tripled --- and we're paying SO MUCH MORE for this work - not for the expertise of the contractor, but for the lumber. Everything's coming up apple blossoms there! That is wonderful. I just hope $2000 worth of fruit and nut trees survived our neighbors donkey getting to them and eating them. Some look like they might be ok, but others we're not sure. He's such a wonderful donkey we can't get mad at him. His name is Valentine and he's solid white. He keeps the coyotes away from the farm. But I sure hope he doesn't go for the fruit and nut trees this year. We have fencing around them, but he is well capable of pushing and breaking through. Also you're right on the lumber thing. We bought 6 - 6x6x12ft posts and I was stunned at their price. Enjoying this beautiful weather here, so I know you are too! 😊❤🙏🐓🐤🐖🐥

Speaking of lumber, we rent our country home, and know we will be moving in a couple years, so we wanted to keep that in mind when we did our gardens. Finally get to put a couple beds in this year, and we are doing the cross bricks that let you just slide lumber into and no screws or nails needed. My wish was to use artificial decking for the sides as it will last a long time and we can move it with us. Fast forward to this year. It was cheaper to get the PVC boards then lumber. So we can get sides that will last indefinitely just about cheaper then the untreated lumber we need. Its insane!

Every year my Grandpa Roush raised two hogs to butcher. He and my grandma milked 4 Jersey cows by hand twice a day. Then they separated the milk, sold the cream and fed some the skim milk to the hogs.

I have a Windex window cleaner bottle for doing second story windows, mixes Windex and hose water automatically with a switch on the top to turn the soap on and off, works awesome! Even better, once the bottle was empty I filled it with Dawn dishwashing liquid and now I use it to spray my fruit trees, works awesome that way too! Keeps the bugs away but doesn't add chemicals to the fruit, my trees have become way healthier since starting this. One year I took one of those static dusters for furniture and went back and forth between my Apple trees and pollinated them myself. I'd wipe the flowers on a few branches of one tree, then do a few branches on another tree, going back and forth until I covered what I could reach. I went to far with it, the trees were way overladen with apples, I was picking apples constantly to reduce the weight on the limbs before they were ripe. I do it a lot less now, I'm too big to be a bee.

Given how poor much of the nc soil is, my advice is to get a chipper shredder and use the wood chips with all pigs and chickens, and rotate as needed and overseed to create great pasture over the long haul

You have accomplished so much already this Spring. Thank you for sharing this day with us.
I'm glad you turned your truck over to a reliable garage and at least you won't have to pay for parts and labor for what you have already done. Maybe this one thing that they do will complete it and fix the problem, but you were right, you just can't do it all. There is only 24 hours in a day after all. Have a Blessed day.

If you can find a local place that rents a drum wood chipper, or even if you have to hire them to come out with it, you could have all that wood chipped up in one day!

Lichen definitely not a sign of poor health - quite the opposite. And lichen only thrives in clean, unpolluted air.

Ben, I never get tired of watching you and the boys doing morning chores, especially seeing baby chicks on fresh grass for the first time. The Mangas are looking fine. How old do they have to be before they can have piglets? I'll bet those are adorable... like poodle-pigs or something. (I ordered a Bubbles t-shirt but the company made a mistake and sent me a shirt that seemed to be from one of the protest groups on the left coast and when I called them, I switched my order to a "Good Morning Beautiful People"... now I want a Bubbles shirt after all, but in addition.) ~ Good call on Sisquatch (using MrFlip001's new name for it, lol). I'd agree that your time is extremely valuable in the spring. About as much as the price of lumber!
The baby is as beautiful as babies can be! Loved her watching the meat bird chicks being put to bed for the night. She'll one day have her own flock like Lily Rhodes or Olivia Lumnah!

Bring it to the specialist because your time is better spent doing something else, I completely agree. The time you spent trying to fix it was not a waste of time. ANY knowledge gained is always valuable.
