    The moment the guy whips out his wooden spoon and dips it in the rice, that's the end of the video..

    Raita is grated cucumber in diluted yogurt with a some salt...what you have on your leaf is cucumber salad, I would say....nice video. Tq for the info. Already liked and subscribed ..

      Hello there 👋, thanks for the clarification on the cucumber salad ☺️. We asked the staff as it looked too watery to be raita but he insisted it was raita so we thought perhaps it was overly diluted 😂?
      Glad you liked this vlog & we hope our other vlogs will be to your liking as well! See you around! 😊

      @@TheGourmetPlate I see...perhaps it was overly diluted...in that case, I apologise for my remark....nice to meet you, on TH-cam. Take care.

    Update as at November 2022:
    We've been visiting Nirwana every now & then...as unfortunate as it is we've noticed a significant drop in quality as well as consistency, probably due to the pandemic where many eateries were affected due to rising cost of operation. As such our current plating sets it at "Honourable Mention"
    Hey guys, hope you enjoyed our video as much as we enjoyed filming & editing it! By the way, at the end of your meal, you can fold your Banana Leaf inwards as a sign of gratitude :)

    Being an Indian in Malaysia, a banana leaf meal in a restaurant is really overrated. By far the Indian meal cooked by my mom or my wife is the best. I have tried eating in many restaurants in KL, Penang or Ipoh all of them are quite mediocre be it famous ones and not so famous ones. ALL of them are different in the way they prepare their item and you can't find any consistency in their curry or rasam. I think it is really an urban myth to find the best banana leaf restaurant in Malaysia or Singapore. In my personal opinion, I rather find a banana leaf restaurant in a small town like Taiping or little alleyways in Penang that is still serving meals with pride. They are really the gem.

    Banana leave rice need to be eaten by hand not spoon. Get fried fish and chicken .

    • @TheGourmetPlate
      @TheGourmetPlate  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Janney! Totally agreed, but due to the pandemic it's probably safer with utensils haha! Fried fish and chicken is a good choice! 😋
      Hope you enjoyed this Food Adventure, feel free to stick around for more adventures!!

      Hello Gerard, thanks for dropping by. We’ve had Nirwana for a long time now and also some other rather popular Banana Leaf Rice over a period of time. We still find Nirwana to edge out other spots for their combination of side dishes & flavours. Sorry you felt strongly about them, do recommend us your favourite spot, we’re always excited to try new spots 😋
