I use that insta camera and am really pleased with it. If I'm honest I don't enjoy seeing the view point turn that much while riding but it is great to be able to talk about something and focus on it at the same time. I probably use mine more in single lens mode for super stable footage that doesn't need the view setting in post. I've got the Insta audio adapter that allows you to plug your microphone in. Works well with the Rode Go2 wireless microphones, would allow you to vlog with just the Insta camera and your helmet looks close to stock with just the microphone plugged into the small Rode sender.
@@MotoMengy wife and I managed to do a duel vlog on two bikes just with the 360 one X2 and a pair of Rode Go2. Worked so long as we didn't get too far apart. You will need to increase the audio gain level to bring the volume up to what Gopro gives as standard. But yes a great camera, good luck with it.
Nice! I’ve been using 360 for a while and always like the additional views it provides. I actually just got the one x2 since my GOPROMAX fell and I smashed the lens. So far, I am liking it but need more testing. It looks great on your footage 👍. My only feedback for your consideration is the transition speed when you switch from front to back, seems very fast and hard to watch without getting dizzy. Easy tweak in editing I think. Good luck! 🤙
I like mine, it adds to editing time a bit, I don't use the fancy views, I use mine as a camera for interesting perspectives and I really like that it does horizon leveling, which can show lean angle. Like anything, you can use it in a way that fits your style, it just gives you a huge amount of options to get the view you want for your vlog style.
I actually wish I could turn auto horizon leveling off sometimes as I like the leaning camera viewpoint in the curves sometimes, but I can simulate by manually changing the rotation angle, it just takes more editing time to do it!
I think when used selectively, the Insta360 One X2 camera is incredible. More and more people will get them now and they will become the next "must have" item for motovloggers. I am not interested in the fancy little planet/fish eye stuff like you. I want the camera to show stuff my action camera can't. You seem to want to use yours the same way I want to use mine. I should bring mine with me way more often than I do though! :D
What you were using it for is exactly why I want to get one as well. We've got tons of amazing scenery here in this part of PA and I always have a hard time trying to capture it with my helmet mounted GoPro. Having the drone is very cool and adds a whole new perspective to videos but I wish I would have gotten the 360 camera and held off on the drone (I think the 360 is a lot more versatile and would get used more often)
Yep, this is exactly why I bought it! I have a drone too but sadly there are lots of places likes state parks where we aren't allowed to even fly them. The 360 camera is much more versatile and useful in my opinion.
Even little old me with my older GoPro have trouble trying to keep my eyes on the road ahead versus watching something scenic along my sides. Very cool camera.
They def have their place. I use my as stationary though as they provide about 2 or 3 additional angles. I rarely mess with rotations and what not but don’t hate it when people do. Good stuff man.
I think I'll mostly use my One X2 as a stationary cam looking back at me with the occasional angle pan to the sides or a tracking shot here and there. It sure is handy though.
I'm impressed wtith what you can do with the new camera. Great way to gather the scenery views. I never realized what you have to do to make a viewable video. Sounds like it will increase safety - you can SEE the road and not worry about missing a roadside feature. I don't think I'll run out and buy one, but I'm not a videoblogger. Have fun, and I'll watch for more videos.
I Hope you enjoy your new camera., because I certainly will … try not to get too good at making videos , you will make everyone else look bad …. Love from Mississippi USA 🇺🇸
Nice video. I have been thinking about getting one also for the same reasons you were think of. It would be great to use just 1 camera and get more view angles. That was my thought.
I live in Austin but had opportunity to ride through Western Pennsylvania area around Altoona and Raystown Lake on July 4th weekend. Beautiful country. I have been considering this camera. You sold me with this video.
Thanks for the shout-out! Yeah, 360 cameras are AWESOME! Looks like you got a solid mount for yours, which makes a big difference! Looks like you were using the Insta360 software to frame your shots? I know you use DR, so maybe check out the video I did on it - you can animate the camera in DR and that'll help your resolution issues [sharpness, mainly]. Let me know if you have any questions - I have LOTS of experience with 360 footage now :D
@@MotoMengy yup, Reframe360 is the plug in and I've got a link to it and a very thorough video on it :) enjoy! EDIT: Oh, and the Insta360/GoPro Max footage is treated the same by Reframe360, so it's not necessarily an "Insta360 reframing" plugin, but a 360 footage reframing plugin.
I have no interest in extreme fish eye and spinning globe views, but everything else I think is spot-on and perfect use for this camera. I was considering a 2nd GoPro for the handle bar mount but this may be a better idea, depending on battery life and storage capacity. I assume you edit the 360 footage separately and then import it into your main video editor?
Yep all of the 360 footage is aimed and controlled during editing. Battery life on the One X2 has been outstanding so far, it lasts longer than my GoPros do per charge.
Came across your video while looking to see how Wing riders mounted their cam to their bike. How was your 360 mounted? I can see most of it at the 1:15 mark, but unsure what the mounting is to the handlebar. Good video!
Look down in my video description for a ball mount under Motovlogging Setup. That's what I use to mount a RAM ball arm to put either the Hero 7 or the One X2 on. 😎
I don’t motovlog but I would like to use it more as a dash cam… my question is do you point it at you or do you lay is straight on the mount and do everything in the editing process?
You point it in the editing process, the One X2 films in 360° all around itself. While editing you can control direction, zoom, view angle, all kinds of stuff.
Are you turning the camera view while riding or is that all done in post? It might not be a bad idea for regular motovloggers as I find myself turning my head to the side while craning my eyes left to see the road, just to show some scenery. The Insta360 ONE X2 seems to be doing a great job! Pricey though I bet! ... Then again, I spent that much just on a new seat cover.
All of the camera aiming is done during editing, while riding I simply turn it off and on and nothing else. Very simple to use but it does make the editing process take more time. I do feel more like a movie producer now though as I need to pick and choose camera angles and such! 😁

I plan to experiment with that kind of setup as well, I think I could conceivably motovlog with just this one camera.

My girlfriend said the same thing about the fast transitions. I like them quicker but I might just be weird. 😝

Its been fun looking at the 360 footage AFTER the ride just to see things around me I missed while riding.
I love it. I have a gopro max but never learned how to edit 360 videos.
From what I read the GoPro 360 software is harder to use, its one reason why I went with the One X2.
That is a neat perspective you can provide the viewers! Nice v-blog! Enjoy them much!
Thanks, the only downside is more time editing but that should get better as I use it more.
I think that’s a great addition to your set-up. Pretty damn cool.
Thanks Colin!
I absolutely love it...Looks very nice and makes your videos look nice. Congrats on the new camera!
Thanks AmerSheikh!
Very cool .. can’t wait to watch more of these
Should be next Sunday! 😁

As I learn more about this ONE X2 ill be able to utilize it in even neater ways. I'm still learning its quirks!
I like the 360 and your plans for its use. Good luck and have fun.
Thanks Dogbone!

Oh I don't see any chance of that, LOL! Thanks though!

I think using just a 360 camera by itself is very doable honestly.

Sweet! I went to Penn State for four years so I spent a lot of time in that same area of PA. Next summer I plan to film a lot more out that way.
I love it, it looks great! Thanks now I’m going to have to buy one! Lol
I'd recommend it, so far I think it's great!
thanks for posting
Thanks Harry!

This is the best looking 360 video I've seen. Is it the camera or did you edit this a different way than the others do?
Honestly I don't know, I'm still learning how to use it so I can't tell you if I'm doing anything different than others are! 😂

@@MotoMengy Part of the hobby! I really like what the camera can do. It's going on my christmas list.
Planet and fish eye is not interesting. Other than that looks good.
I feel the same way about planet & fisheye, can't really see much scenery in them.
