      Not me that's for sure, I'm extremely grateful of your insider tips and knowledge.
      I followed your recommendation of the ANI-R150 1.0mm spray gun and so far I've used it to clear coat a wheel and it paints like a dream! Hardly any orange peel at all

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Great to hear man, I also think the ANI is reasonably priced, without being a total tight ass I feel that we have to keep them on their toes and if we keep paying $1000 for SATAjets they'll keep putting the price up and if I can save a few dollars and get the same or very similar results then why not.

      +The Gunman Seems to be the best gun for value. I'll be painting an FG XR8 bonnet with this gun soon so it'll be interesting to see how it goes!

    I am still learning, if someone wants to test out their tools, knowledge, potential skills I would get hold of maybe a freebie or cheap car and use that as a learning experience, good job as usual gunman.

    Great video thanks from London England 👍
    My brother had a Fiat Panda E reg 1988 as his first car back in the 90 1,000cc, double canvas folding sunroofs! Got 98mph out of that little thing! Bonnet strapped down with my leather shoe lace and it ended it's days kissing a tree right up to the middle of the engine! It was literally a tin can!! Lol 😅 my brother was lucky to walk out no injuries fortunately, the car was a gonna though! Been trying to find an old one to buy him for a bit of nostalgia, surprised as he was only 17 or 18 when he had it but as you said in this video theyve all rusted away over here now unfortunately, shame his one was a pukka little motor especially given it was a fiat! Had metallic 2coat paint from factory! CL SOLAR was the model double sunroofs like top of the range Panda lol 😅
    Great stuff mate I'm gleaning bits of knowledge here and there as fuck all money but painted a few panels on my BMW couple years ago came out like factory and with rattle cans with wise nozzle a mate said I should get a spray gun and compressor start doing little repair jobs and I got 4 sets of alloys I want to do so any advice you can offer to a bloke our of work fuck all money to get the cheapest gun and petrol compressor possible so that would allow me to do some alloys odd panel and ive got an older 2004 3 series I'm thinking of giving a blow over with base coat and then few coats of lacquer as it's got a few chips few bubbles of rust and thought it might be easier to Sand and fill the imperfections and then spray it all over once the summers here..
    If yob got any advice I'd be really grateful MATE or whether you think it ain't worth bothering..?
    Cheers and another great video mate! 👍😎

    Dolphin glaze is best uses just as a finishing filler, if you're using a rough bog that pin holes like crazy then dolphin glaze is great to finish of with, it's more of a finishing filler than a build filler.. Try Upol Fantastic, it has a good build and hardly pin holes at all. Another good thing the painter love me for is finishing my filler in Dolphin glaze and a 180 sanded finish rubs down lovely and smooth too. less work for the painter trying to get scratches outta your filler. 😁 nice work gunman

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah and then they come back and say your repairs are screwed cos they sanded all the 80 scratches out and ruined it, sounds like you are one of the few good panel beaters who get that finishing off fine enough like 180 is the only way to do the job properly.

    • @shiftinggears9896
      @shiftinggears9896 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +The Gunman lol I finish of in 240 lol no lie 😉 that way the painters don't need to touch my filler lol

      +The Gunman I take pride in my work, I believe you can always do a flawless job yet still be done in a very cost effective way, I'm all about saving money but not cutting corners. I wish I took some pictures of this BMW 3series quarter panel repair I started a hour before the end of the day.. I managed to get it almost all roughed out and ready for filler, just another 10 minutes tapping around and she's ready for a skim of filler. Did it all will a Pin Puller and 🔨 I'm at a new Garage where I'm also doing the odd bit of paint work too so finding your videos useful to some degree, Im a little rusty but it's coming back 😀 #Gospraysomeshit! lol 👍👌✌

    `Hi Gunman, great again. One comment: why don't you use the vacuum-cleaner with the the orbital sander, you were almost tripping over it :-) I think the sandpaper keeps longer lasting and you generate less dust

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's an old Fiat Uno done for free so 1K is perfect, if it was a paying customer I would have most likely done repairs better and used 2k.

    Sometimes I think it's actually more difficult to make an average daily driver look good than it is to do some crazy custom show car thing. With a show car, there really are no rules. But a daily driver? Finding a balance between looking clean, looking good, and being practical can be a challenge.
    Regarding painting in the US... Here in California, it's nothing short of a complete pain in the ass. For whatever reason, you cannot purchase 1 Gallon (~4L) containers of automotive paint here, and I have yet to find a reputable retailer that will ship such products to California. Beyond that, I've only ever seen HVLP guns here, and most parts retailers don't sell 'em.

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's madness, I don't even see that it's doing the environment any good either. Just making it a pain in the ass for painters.

    Hey Would you be able to send a link or photo of that 1k primer you were using?? Want to make sure I get the right one. Also, do you only recommend that primer for cheaper jobs? Or will it work for more expensive jobs? Thanks!!!

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd use 2k on a paying job, I tagged you in an Instagram post of the photo of the 1k.

      +Mitchell Ferre You need to set up some traps for those beer cans. You can't let them breed or you"ll have a serious (drinking) problem.

    yo gunman, got a question im at my education to learn the job as a car refinisher, and my boss gives me instantly stuff to body fill like kitchen cabinets etc. its pretty boring for me because i wanna work at cars . so is it better to learn at small things first and then on cars?

    • @shiftinggears9896
      @shiftinggears9896 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm a Experienced Panel Beater with over 14years in the game. You have got to start somewhere and there is nothing wrong with taking some old panels home like a old wing or door and practice repairing them, I did as an Apprentice. But you should be at the garage full time definitely other wise how are you expected to learn. you should be working with someone and them schooling you on stripping the cars ect. Then you'd be watching him repair something. I hope that answer your question kid 😁

      +Ian Janane i work at the workshop for 4month now,my boss screams at me because im to slow. how should i be fast at masking etc. if i do this maybe 2times a month haha

      For me it's all about attitude and work ethic in the first year, I wouldn't expect you to be as quick as a tradesman but I'd expect you to be as quick as you can, you may think that working on cabinets is not teaching you the right skills but it is, every minute you are there you are taking in the environment and learning methods. Instead of saying the boss is an ass maybe think, well he is paying me to be here and learn maybe he is right I should hurry up.
      As a kid you are in a hurry to get onto cars but trust me you have the rest of your life, I always like to keep the young kids out of my paint shop for the first 6 months at least that gives them the thirst to be there and also lets them get familiar with the way a shoop runs, you probably have this attitude where you are thinking I started an apprenticeship to do cars not this crap so why bother work my ass off, well trust me the same basic principals will be transferred to cars and when you prove yourself on these cabinets then maybe he'll let you on cars where the cost of you making a mistake is much higher, you have to remember that this trade really takes years to master and if not done properly it does cost a lot to rectify. I am working on a video on being an apprentice now so stay tuned and good luck.

      All I did in my first 6months was watch my foreman repair cars and help strip cars.. I was the tea boy and chief sweeper upper! Lol Gunman is right, it's all about work attitude, and ask questions, show lots of enthusiasm and some basic skills and I'm sure your boss will get you on cars.. It's boring at the start sometimes but pay attention! Cause sooner or later you'll be thrown in the deepend and if you can't do the basic things that you have watched people do many times then you'll never last 😁
