  • Join us in San Antonio, Texas on an exciting walking tour of the San Antonio Riverwalk! We begin our journey at the Shops at Rivercenter Mall, a bustling hub with over 100 retailers, 14 restaurants, an IMAX Theater, AMC Theaters, and the towering Marriott Hotel. From here, we descend a couple of levels to reach the picturesque River Walk.
Our first tour stop is the Rivercenter Lagoon, where we take a quick look at a map to plan our route. We start by exploring the manmade extension built for Hemisfair 68, a serene, landscaped walkway that leads us to the original, more bustling River Walk. Along the way, we discover the popular narrated river cruise, which departs from the lagoon by the Marriott Hotel and offers a 35-minute tour of the river on special river barges. Today, the River Walk is especially crowded, as it's spring break week in Texas.
As we continue, we reach the intersection with the original River Walk, where we see Casa Rio, the first restaurant on the Riverwalk, famous for its colorful umbrellas and delicious Mexican food. Walking along this lively section filled with shops and eateries, we find food of almost any type you want. Since we had Mexican food at Lupe Tortilla earlier in the week and BBQ at Cooper’s, today we’re in the mood for seafood and choose Landry’s Seafood House for lunch. We enjoy a meal with a view of the river, savoring seafood-stuffed flounder, cappuccino, Irish crème coffee, crème brûlée, and triple chocolate cake.
Crossing over historic canals and beautifully landscaped sections filled with shops and restaurants, we enjoy the quieter parts of the River Walk. This section is mostly lined with hotels and other living spaces, offering a peaceful contrast to the lively main areas. We climb the steps to E. Houston Street, cross over the bridge, and walk back along the opposite bank of the river, eventually returning to the Rivercenter Mall.
As we re-enter the Rivercenter, we notice the crowd at the river cruise boarding area has increased dramatically since earlier. Reflecting on a delightful day spent exploring one of San Antonio’s most iconic landmarks, we head back to the parking garage and wrap up our video. What an interesting walk. I haven't been down to the river walk in over two decades. As I'm not a fan of crowds, I can see I won't be making a return visit during spring break either. Thanks!

Thanks! Spring Break is definitely not the time if you don't like crowds! Fall is usually a much better time. I have seen it then when you could just basically get right on the river boats. It's still a fun place with great places to eat anytime though. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.

Thanks for the great video tour of this interesting place. I have heard people talk about the river walk, but only saw a handful of photographs. As I watched, I thought that I will probably never vacation there, but that I would love to catch a professional conference hosted in one of the hotels there. It would be a great place to explore between conference sessions.

You're welcome! When I was working in education, we had conferences there pretty often and it was great for that. There's lots of good food and lots of places to explore in addition to the River Walk. Thanks for the comment! Hope you can make it down there one day.
