Fun thing is, that if you do not kill the mother, the cub stays with it and you get to meet _brother_ in the Goblin Camp. Love the level of detail they went to (mother cast out one to raise the other)
As far as I know it's the same cub you meet in the goblin camp. If you leave the mother alive, goblins kill her and take the cub. If you kill her, goblins take the cub as well
@@hildebos1653 Apparently the cubs are different: the one in the cave has all white feathers while the unhatched one that the goblins take after eventually killing the mother has a mix of white and red feathers, and he also does not state the "i had a brother until mother ate him" line with animal speech due to the mom being dead before he ever hatched. It's a weirdly, extremely minor detail that is completely unneccesary due to not adding anything of substance, but i think Larian did this so that the cub joining your camp after killing its mom wouldn't be super weird (why would it join the killers of its mother?). The issue is...the 2 cubs are effectively identical anyways to the point where almost no one even knows they're different cubs so this purpose ended up being uselessly superfluous.
@@joshuakim5240it’s all the same cub. The one in the video is all white because it’s early access. Eh, it's really not that uncommon in nature. Mothers will kill their young when they feel especially stressed out or when they believe their children are too feeble to make it, because the alternative is expending time and resources on a lost cause when they could be focusing on some of their other more resilient offspring or try again later in hopes of better odds. And, of course, you expend a lot of nutrition creating and carrying the offspring, so if it needs to die anyway... well, it's just free protein, isn't it? Gotta get your strength up.

Yes. To get him is a bit involved. Basically, you have to invade an Owlbear nest- it's near the first "true soul" you meet. Have a talk with the owlbear, then either fight her or back off. There is also some loot in the cave, but be careful cause the mom will become hostile if she feels you got to close to her egg or baby- or if you fail the skill checks.. She's actually a little bit tough in the early game- but if you know the game systems you should be fine. If you do kill the mom, elect to spare the cub. Whether you kill the mom or not, the goblins will end up in possession of the cub as long as you met the owlbears. Also, you can get a unique spear. The handle is on the first true soul- just a broken stick really. The head is in the owlbear moms eye.
Yep! The cave is hard to find. East of Blighted village. The game thankfully gives you a lot of chances. If you back off and not engage, and return later, you will see the goblins got to the mother (even if you wiped them out). A few full nights rest later, a *spoiler scene appears.
