After 3 years of using the original Thermarest Xtherm with no performance issues other than it wasn't the most comfortable mat i decided to experiment with some lighter options and then upgrade the X Therm for the latest version but i had some serious problems and despite the excellent customer service from Thermarest i lost confidence and started to look at different brands with varying degrees of success and now i am trying this Nemo Tensor Extreme Conditions mat to see how i cope through this winter. So far so good and i will do an update after several more nights usage. I hope someone finds this useful because i couldn't find that many opinions on YT before i decided to buy this one to try. Thanks for watching and please leave your opinions on how you have found it.

A good initial review and talk about your mat experiences. It's a cracking good weight for a mat with such a high R value. A bit weird that the pump sack doesn't double as a storage sack. TFS atb DVS :)

Yeh they missed an opportunity to give it a double use but on a positive side i dont have to take a Flex Tail pump which is another thing that needs to be charged up. You have certainly put the Cat amongst the Pigeons with your Kuiu , well done. I have seen one with my very own eyes and i am one of those Die Hard Hilleberg fans and i have absolutely no doubt that The Storm star will stand up in the wind better than any Hilleberg i have used and thats including the Jannu, Nammatj 2 , Nallo 2 and the Soulo and Akto. I am going to wait until next winter before buying one as i have only had the Nammatj for 1 month which i do really like but seeing it next to the Storm star is a little bit disappointing . For the quality and performance and the price its got to be the best tent in its class out there so thanks very much for the introduction to it :)

@@Olan... That's high praise indeed for the Kuiu from someone who's used as many Hilleberg's. It's a shame all Hilleberg owners aren't as open and honest as yourself. I had some grief for daring to compare my Storm Star to a Soulo, I had to block a few people online. I don't mind Hille tents, but some of the owners are far too protective of the brand, to the point where they get really angry and quite insulting towards non-Hille owners. FFS they're only tents lol. I'm surprised you said that about your Jannu, Tom Heaney Adventures on YT has had his out in all weathers, pushed to the max, it looks like it'll take a right hammering, but yeah, I'd love to have seen a Storm Star pitched next to it.

Well some people just cannot handle Empirical evidence can they. Its a bit like when you have years of experience and you know something that someone with a degree in a certain subject doesn't know but they will get upset and agitated because they have spent a lot of money or gotten themselves into debt for a certificate that isn't worth the paper its written on. Some people still want to believe that Gortex is the benchmark for a good breathable waterproof even when they get piss wet through .I could say the same for Merino wool base layers which i dont like one bit... Horses for courses hey :) . If i had a choice of tents for an exposed summit camp then it would be the Storm Star , below the treeline there are lots of lighter options that will do the job well@@donnavansenior

I forgot to mention that this is the Regular Wide version and also the pump sack is really good too. It only takes 5 sackfuls of air to fully inflate. The only minor negative for me personally is that the pump sack doesn't double as a stuff sack like the Expeds and the Thermarest. Exped pump sacks are the best because they have a double use and do both function of inflating and storing very satisfactory so no need to carry a pump. Its a shame that Nemo do not adopt the same double function capability.
