Jonathan Lipnicki: Be Proactive in Finding Happiness
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 8 ก.พ. 2025
- Jonathan Lipnicki (Jerry Maguire, Stuart Little, Comeback Kids podcast) opens up about his struggles with anxiety, panic attacks, and irrational fears. He discusses his difficulties with balancing the success of his career as a child actor with being severely bullied in school, and the coping mechanisms he has used to deal with bullying and anxiety. Mayim and Lipnicki bond over their martial arts training and the problem-solving it teaches, and Mayim adopts Lipnicki’s mantra. They discuss intergenerational trauma and the holocaust’s impact on familial anxiety, rumination manifested by anxiety, and the non-linear nature of therapy. We introduce a new segment called “Moments of Peace & Calm,” and Mayim considers alcohol’s effects on anxiety in another installment of “Ask Mayim Anything.”

"i can feel poorly, but not poor me" LOVE THIS!! thank you Jonathan
I was Jonathan Lipnickis Hebrew school teacher in his 5th grade year! Loved watching this. He rarely made it to class. But it was such an epic year. i was 21 & teaching at congregation i grew up at after a year in israel. Hugs & thanks for this.
Wonderful to see how nicely this young man has grown up! Wise beyond his years is the familiar phrase. Loved his story..and good to hear he saw his value to this world. Hollywood isn't the end all, be all and sounds like he knows this. Good for him that he had such a good family support base.
"take away the noise" having anxiety for years i learned this!!!! again, thank you Jonathan for being transparent and sharing. ♥️
I just adore Mayim’s honest and transparent communication. She is so relatable
This is a great episode! I'm a person with BIG anxiety and it always helps to hear other people talk about their struggles because I can totally relate! My current mantra is "Let go or be dragged". When I can't control what's happening around me it reminds me there is no great benefit to trying to hold on tighter.
Loved thst! Thanks for sharing!
That mantra is the best. I immediately shared it with my sisters. I love how much this podcast helps me understand mental health and gives me real solutions I can use in my own life. So thanks for doing this Mayim and Jonathan!
YES! Do a segment on posture. I sit at a desk to watch you tube and before I know it I am all hunched over and slouched. I think working for years as a travel agent and holding a phone between my ear and shoulder could have played in to some of this bad posture and stress on my lower back. Loved this episode with Jonathan!
I'm trying to get caught up a lot of these Breakdown Podcasts. I want to binge but often find they are often too full of "food for thought" that requires time to chew on, enjoy the flavor and process the content, my take-aways, and personal growth from each episode.
Thank Mayim for doing what you do. Each episode brings elements many of us didn't even know we need to hear
I think I’ll like A LOT, the new section of “Moments of peace and calm” ! 💜In fact I did from lots of years ago exactly what Mayim & Jonathan explains today, after hours of putting my mind to work (an architect here) & before going to bed. A moment of selfconscience of my own body, muscle by muscle, joint by joint, vertebra after vertebra. I learnt it loooong ago with an Indian ioga master just after leaving University, when we still drew by hand over a drawing table, ending our days contracted in the form of a C. It has saved my body, letting me to continue skiing, swimming & training even at my actual “young granny” age. The price: falling slept some nights in my couch before rising the bedroom. Eagerly waiting for next “Moment of peace and calm” lesson! 🙏🏼
Mayim, could not agree more- Jonathan is delightful!
Which one? 😉 “That Jonathan” or “My Jonathan” (Mayim’s words..)
@@marisamartinezolivera actually if truth be told- hats off to both Jonathans :)
@@7dazeaweek Fully agree!
Love the fact that you all are talking about Martial Arts, as a Black Belt in various styles and a 5th Dan in Shotokan Karate, it makes my heart happy that you all are learning and made it part of your life. The arts have so much to offer from Life protection, health and mental well being. Osu! and Tae Kwon!!
I love the Mantra... "I can feel poorly but Not poor me"... I guess in a way I have been living the same way just never put it so beautifully before. Thank you for that!
Miss Mayim is so relatable. I love them both. 🥰
I absolutely love all of these. You keep me smiling and thinking all the time. You are my constant encouragement while studying for my certification exams. I love who you interview, what you ask and especially how Jonathan keeps you accountable (GO JC)! To the entire crew who makes these video podcasts possible - Keep up the great work!
I like to use the mantra "just because I can, doesn't mean I should". When I find myself doing laps in the pool of anxiety I have to just stop and breathe. Change perspective and try to remember to be more gentle on myself. 🖖
That is very useful to me. Thanks for sharing!
I’m blown away by the honesty. Thank you!
I enjoy the show very much! Guest suggestion, JEWEL! She is an amazing person, has been trough adversities and triumphed, mental health is very important for her! Which relates to your podcast core.
Yes! This would be awesome! Jewel was my favorite musician growing up in the 90s.
@@melissa_kay Joe Rogan has an interview with her on Spotify! Amazing!
so thankful y'all started this podcast and have kept it going
I like the new segment. Again, I enjoyed this episode and learned some things. I started off listening to the podcast. Once I realized you were on TH-cam, I watch you and Jonathan now. Thanks for caring so much about the guests and audience.
I love all segments new and old and I love the wisdom and fun I get from your podcast.
Ruminating!!!!! You and I could be the same person! My therapist says I have a what if tree growing in my body! What a breath of fresh air you are Jonathan, great outlook. I simply cannot say how much this episode hit! Seriously this guy is the best.
From my own experience, I found that bullying was a result of peers, and even teachers not being able to deal with an "old soul" or a more compassionate young child. These bullies are intimidated by your presence so their only way to interact with you is to keep you down, tear you down, to keep you in your place and in their comfort zone. Meanwhile the bullied and compassionate little soul has a form of PTSD which is exhibited in anxiety and mental health issues such as self doubt, self worth, as in "What's wrong with me?" which the answer is: "Nothing is wrong with you, it's their issue, not yours despite the damage it does to you."
Interesting observations Jody. I haven't thought of bullying like that before, but that does seem to fit the profile of some of the bullying that went down when I was a teenager. Both aimed at myself when I was younger and at other classmates.
@@rdp16rulez That definitely is from life observation from my own and watching other's experiences and lives. It could possibly be updated as old age for now is only 62... I may have a few more years of learning to do!
I love the feeling of working out, doing martial arts. I never had kids. To lose weight first I beat up the scale, threw it away, did inner work. Then suddenly the weight came off easily. It's been so much easier. I'm feeling better about myself.
Tony Thompson 💕 This guy was an inspiration through childhood, great insight, thanks Mayim!
Fantastic take-away mantra from Johathon!. So grateful for this podcast and the honest, insightful discussions!❤
What a great guy! I enjoyed this interview a lot.
What an amazing smile Jonathan Lipnicki has 🙂
I just posted that. What a great smile!!
Regarding ‘mantras’, I can share here the three ones I learnt from Vishen’s episode (some is now written in a poster at my office):
“Love yourself as if your life depends on it”
“Create your life as a unique masterpiece”
“You have to protect your hapiness first”
And now I may add another one I’ve learnt from Lipniki’s words: “Enjoy your risks”!!
Btw, I adore how Mayim says “my Jonathan” 🥰💜
My mantra, "the courage to change the things I can"
I really enjoy every show so far….Thank you kindly and keep up the great work!
I enjoyed the new segment. I would to tell you how brave you are to be so transparent with all of us throughout your podcast; even when you are put on the spot. I’ve been watching since the beginning and they just keep getting better. I would like to hear “What would Mayim do if?” segment. My feeling of anxiety comes and goes depending on different situations. I would like to hear how Mayim handles different strains (if that’s a thing) of anxiety in different situations. Anyway keep doing what you’re doing! Thank you!!
If you think it’s a thing, it’s a thing! It’s your mind. Just don’t make it too powerful.
Mayim and Jonathan, the balance in your co-hosting improved here, and you demonstrated very open, vulnerable conversation. After the interview, Mayim showed impressive restraint, respectfully allowing Jonathan to share his insights. I question whether he was overly blunt, as I'm not sure where the line is. Still, staying quiet and listening when being "called out" would be rightly uncomfortable, therefore, all the more kudos to you both for following up that awkward moment with constructive conversation, a healthy debrief.
Guy has an amazing smile
I love this great show starring one of my favorite actress from Blossom Mayim Bialik!! Is called Breakdown it's a good series!!!! I love it!!!! Thank you so much Mayim keep your head up!! And hang on in there!!! Stay safe and be safe through this pandemic!!! There is no stopping us now!!!!😀😀😀😀😀😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥳🥳🥳🥳😘😘😘😘🍀🍀🍀🍀🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈♥️♥️♥️♥️🌹🌹🌹🌹🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🌈🌈🌈🌈☕☕☕☕👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏼😍😍😍😍🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼
SWEET sting about "moments of peace and calm"! ❤️🎶 Love this! 🙌🙌
Great episode guys - entertaining guest - informed narrative - cerebral energy balanced against hysterical moments - Mayim & Jonathan you always make my day - Mayim I cannot picture you 80 lbs heavier - you're gorgeous!
Always wondered what happened to him after the Little Vampire, which is one of my favorite Halloween movies. Glad to see I'm not alone🖖 anxiety is rough
Since there is interview footage from that time of him wearing the glasses, I think they did belong to him. Excellent episode!
I love you both. You have helped me be a better listener, a better Mom, a better friend. You both and your guests amaze me. You are beautiful, smart…I wanna be your best friend.
I am always in my head and it's difficult for me to connect and be with my body, so mayim's attention to each part of her body before sleep and checking in with each part and shifting even just a little is AWESOME! That is huge and hugely helpful! I only notice that my shoulders are raised and my legs are tense when I'm on the toilet. It's the only time I'm able to give my own body attention and lower my shoulders which is always raised. Now I'm going to try to do this at night. Love that l can do this to connect with by body and truly listen to my body and be in my body. I need to do more of this to get out of my head. Thank you for sharing that!
Congratulations on the gold TH-cam followers award 🥇👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💜
It’s so Inspiring that everyone on this podcast advocates for mental health and makes it such an important topic. Jonathan lipnicky is inspirational because fame didn’t ruin him and when he needs help he seeks it. Mental health is always swept under the rug and the people suffering from problems with it
Great episode. Thanks Jonathan!
I'm a big fan of the podcast and I watch every one! I love what you two do for humanity through this podcast and I hope you continue to do so. It's all amazing stuff. Since you asked for feedback...I did wonder why Mayim is always saying bad things about Jonathan. It seems she's always playfully insulting him, but it'd be nice to see her say more uplifting things to him seeing as they are coupled and he seems to me so affirming of Mayim.
Mayim realized, new segemnt, BRILLIANT!
Same here with the shoulders! Then I realize It makes me feel so tense and looks ridiculous lol. Do the same thing when in bed and also visualize my happy places, I try to really go there and try to, in my head, smell the things that make me feel calm and content. It really really helps!
I can relate to you both. The scarcity mindset is very real with my dad too, he grow up during India/ Pakistan partition.🙏
I love this interview.
I love the new jingle! 👏
Mayim you are just amazing I’m so proud of you , you are such an incredible person and an idiol of mine for some many years , congratulations on the bialik merc store it’s fantastic ordered already keep been fab love you 😘 ❤️xx
Mayim you should try and get him to guest on your series! This has been a great show!
Mayim I love you and I respect you a great deal. Having said that, it would be nice if you could just start the interview and put the commercials in intermittently throughout the broadcast. That’s one thing. Second thing is (and you might not like this) stop with the interrupting to talk about yourself, just focus on Jonathan (not the Cohain). Again I adore you so please try to separate yourself from this critique and just take it as constructive criticism.
Great episode and very helpful. :)
Gotta say, I’m not crazy about regulating speech that way. It’s very NLP, and NLP is problematic for many reasons. I also think it’s subtly controlling, and liable to produce a backlash, either internally or externally. The change in language will happen organically as a person grows and becomes more peaceful. Or it may never entirely change, since some of it is embedded in culture. And maybe consider what the issue is with imposing on one’s natural cultural expression. PS I’m in my 60s and have been in therapy most of my adult life. I’ve had training as a licensed massage therapist and many alternative healing modalities, including shiatsu, Reiki, etc. So consider this one voice of experience.
That said, the Power of the Pause is mighty!
Aww he's so cute. Seems like a good guy.
Happy Birthday Mayim
Agreed! You guys would be totally adorable on the cover of People magazine!!!
Jonathan seems like such a well adjusted and sensible guy. I'm glad that he's doing well. I wonder if he would do a movie about child actors with Hayley Joel Osmond and Michelle Tractenburg? Just a weird idea that popped up when he was talking about doing a movie with Jaime Lynn Sigler (Meadow from The Sopranos).
Great episode
Jerry McGuire one of my fav movies
My son's been doing ATA taekwondo since he was 4 and just received his third black belt last month.
Placement of the body…story of life. So many kinks. I sleep in the fetal position all crunched up.I’m going to work at the check in during work and during sleep. Please do an episode about posture.
Very nice interview. The guy seems very nice. Greeting from Pamplona in Spain :)
I loved this one 🥰
Guest Suggestion - Dr. Cal Newport, Professor of Computer Science at Georgetown University, author of many books, and lecturer. His book 'Deep Work' changed my life.
Wow how is he 31 already? He's still adorable. 💝🙏💝 So happy he's in a good place. 💝🙏💝
Gasp! "Cats are better for depression." For the past 8 years I've been saying: "The three things that keep me out of depression are working full time, planning and going on trips, and taking care of a cat." I work 40 hours a week. Last year summer I visisted Canada. Last December I visited Manhattan. Last February I visited Tucson. Last month I visited Charleston, and Myrtle Beach. Next month I will visit England and cruise to Norway. My first cruise! In the past 10 years, I've had 3 cats, at one time. When one dies, I get another cat the same day one is buried!
His eyes are insanely blue! They looked almost purple in this video!
I find the comments just as or sometimes more knowledgeable than the content. Where would creator’s be without comments. And if she doesn’t read the comments she’s definitely not growing. Thanks for all these videos.
I have not heard you talk about Highly Sensitive Person - Dr Elaine Aaron -
Have you looked into this? There’s many of your guests, as well as yourself, that seem to have the trait of hsp. Maybe worth reading up on it ;)

He's adorable 🥰
I love you so much in the big bang theorie
MAYIM!!!! The whole conversation about body awareness in bed is one of my top frustrations! I am hyperaware of my body and its sensations. I make no less than 5 micro-adjustments every 10 minutes as a new sensation assaults my brain (that's what it feels like). And I always have to choose between pains - left shoulder vs right TMJ. Left hip vs right sinuses. Or on my back with lower legs supported, but that still causing some sort of back pain. IDGAF, just let me F'g sleep!!!! I do have (undiagnosed) sensory issues so I'm not confused about this, but it's so frustrating! I'll think I'm relaxed, then suddenly realize one shoulder is hiked up, or my neck is holding in an extreme turn/hold for no reason. I never feel rested, and I'm obsessed with sleep. F'ing hate it. Feeling tired spikes my anxiety to the point I'm constantly (attempting to) controlling my sleep with prescription meds and alcohol. Timing it, dosing it, arranging my (sparse) schedule around it. I HATE IT SO MUCH!!! Just this morning I had to up for a regular Tuesday 8AM meeting, and when my alarm awoke me at 7:30 (usually set for 7:55) all I could think about was how I was going to take a half of an Ambien as soon as the meeting was done and go back to sleep. As the meeting progressed and my brain woke up and felt engaged I changed course and took my Adderall, choosing to engage in the day. (I'm a programmer who has worked from home since before the pandemic, so I haven't had any semblance of a schedule for several years.) But I digress. My original point was that I completely understand what you were describing about the body trying to settle into comfort at bedtime. PS - I find it very weird (in the most loving way) that you get into bed and your only plan is to go to sleep. No reading?? Just lights out, maybe a meditation, close your eyes and hope/pray for sleep? I don't get it. :P
Who drops out of these episodes early??? I don't understand how that can happen... :)
Has the Comeback Kids podcast stopped? The last episode was April 2021.
Originally, in Polish, we pronounce it LipniTZki (and Johnny GaWeTZki)
Nice video
💙
Guysss!!!)))…Yesss!!!)))(About body placement)
I had to go to the Craniofacial Pain Center at Tufts University when I was a passenger in a car accident and got TMJ due to my neck injury. I learned The Most Magical Dentist Trick Everrrr there. I tell Everyone to do this when I hear they have to go to the dentist(since most people are afraid to go.)
Keep Your Feet UnCrossed! Your arms too, but Especially Your Ankles! It’s SO Simple, But It Works!))) You can Totally Feel The Difference.
I tell them, when they get in the chair(they most likely will have their feet crossed)Uncross them. Wait a few minutes n cross them again n then the same again(uncross them.) It’s Like Magic, The Difference In How Much More Relaxed You Feel!))))
Love You Guys!)))
Love Your TH-cam channel!)))

If they made a Little Einsteins movie a long time ago, then Jonathan Lipnicki could've played Leo because I think he looks just like him when he was a child.
Why are we still interrupting guests? Or speaking for them? This is not the Whitney Cummings show.
I can't believe the movie Like Mike was so long ago. 😭
I didn't know you were familiar with BJJ. My son has two Gracie Barra BJJ studios in Jefferson City and Columbia, Missouri.
I am always surprised to hear that celebrity children are made fun of or bullied in school.
If they had attended my school in the Midwest, we would have given them our lunch money to hang out with us!
Are tattoos kosher?
YES!!!! "Theragun" 😉 uh huh lol

Hi
Who is the guy with the beard? Asking for a friend.
Jonathan 😁
🇨🇦
I am Jewish, and was taught never to get a tattoo. Why did you get one?
Catholic here. I was taught the same. My grandmother always said your body is a temple.
I have 2.
Some of us are bad jews with tattoos and bacon in the fridge
😂😂😂❤❤
Cats are better for depression? How so?
It’s very odd that Mayim encourages people to rethink what they’ve been taught about childbirth for the past 100 years, but she’s willing to NOT do that about the Germ Theory. In order for a theory to be valid, it must be reproducible in each and every patient. It’s call a Theory for a reason.
Pheff? sorry😅

I’ve never forgotten that the human head weighs 8 pounds. 😁
Not that you're Obama, but just like I don't want to relate to my president because I want his smartness to blow me away, I don't feel the need to relate to an awesome career actor either. Go on and tell me all about your rich life and your rich people things you do, and your famous friends and amazing vacations. So please don't feel you need to be so self-deprecating on my account.
