Being from the Netherlands, having travelled on Italian trains quite a bit, I think they're quite good. They have reasonably reliable service, nice and comfortable trains (even the older ones) and they don't cost too much. I think the Italians are doing train travel right.

I have used the Civitavecchia station many times over the years when cruising to or from Italy. The one thing I always dread is the small steep staircase that must be negotiated with luggage when you arrive from Rome and are on your way to a cruise. I am always interested to see the number of cruise passengers who are not aware of the fact that there is no escalator or elevator and carrying several pieces of luggage is a real struggle. It is easier when traveling to Rome because many trains leave on the track next to the waiting room which does not require a staircase. I was hoping that your video would show the installation of an escalator but it still has not happened.

06:30 Actually that’s not a Caravaggio but a rock (is always a ETR521/421 only that for Trenord/FNM are called Caravaggio to remember the painter Michelangelo Merisi said Caravaggio for his village of baptism about 30 kilometers from Milan while Trenitalia as it is doing in recent years has called the train with a music genre rock in this case) the Trenord/FNM Green and White livery represents the main colors of Lombardy while the rock uses the classic DTR livery (present also on Jazz for example) or particular liveries like that of Super Mario

I am sure it was one like that I was on from Roma Termini to Caserta near Naples. It was a frecciargento and this was in 2016. The old frecciabianca trains were loco hauled at that time with older intercity type carriages and a DVT at the non loco end of the train. That one you travelled on there - did they used to be frecciargento trains before?

@@markm-1976 those are really powerful Locos, you’ve basically been on high speed services then, and yes they are really good.
Frecciaargento has higher speed (250kmh) compared to Frecciabianca (200kmh) and they are now operated whit: etr485, Etr600 - the duck, and etr700 (we bought on sale from Dutch railways 😅 but they do sometimes suffer of technical problems).
Frecciabianca use 460 stock (like the one in the video) the only frecciabianca train capable of 250kmh speed; 404 stock and 402b coupled with z1 passenger cars are limited at 200kmh.

Three years ago I was on this same route in First Class to get to the cruise port with my family; I found the ride to be pleasant - the only downside was that it was there were only stairs available upon arrival at the platform in Civitavecchia and it was certainly not convenient when carrying a bunch of large pieces of luggage...especially when I was the only younger person around and had to do the carrying! It is kind of surprising how the trains don't seem to use the platform that is closest to the station house considering the amount of cruise passengers arriving into this station that are invariably going to have plenty of larger pieces of luggage and forced to haul their bags up and down stairwells and tunnels.

The difference is though that on the Czech ones the 2nd class comes in a 2-1 configuration, which I find awesome! How tight were the seats on the Italian one, because those trains are narrower due to the tilting technology, so I was wondering if it felt squeezed in a 2-2 config.

The only ones with the tilting mechanism are the 485's and the 600 and 610 ETR.

Thank you, nonstop eurotrip! So, the introduction of your video is not long, since you show us essential things: the entrance to the station, the station. It is very important for me. I like when you show the station. You explain well. On the other hand, I am a little disappointed for your presentation of the train, or more precisely of the seat of the train. You went a little too fast and for example, if you know what I mean, you did not measure if the distance between the seat and the other was sufficient enough with you. I don't know if you took advantage of this (short) trip. In my opinion, it is very expensive. Especially for such a short trip. I would have taken the train much cheaper than you showed us. In addition, he stops more times !!! Too cool for a train fanatic. Your conclusion is excellent, but in my opinion you did not focus enough on the train this time. Anyway, I had more the impression that you were on vacation on this train, in other words that you were taking care of other things. But hey, the video is good anyway, don't worry. I liked. Thanks to you !!!

Thank you, nonstop eurotrip! I'm afraid I was a little too harsh in my previous opinion. I love all of your videos, you know, but there are some videos that I like better than others. You are doing a great job. Can't wait to watch your video on the cheaper train and see what you thought of it. Thanks to you !!!

    Μπορείτε παρακαλώ να επιβεβαιώσετε ή να διαψεύσετε;
