I think this channel has HUGE potential, by combining quality train reviews (which you already do), with destination reviews (at least the ones you connect with your journeys). Wow, what a channel that would be.
My favorite train trip as a student in Italy was from Genoa to Nice! I shall never forget the spectacular views which have stayed with me all my life. Thanks for the reminder of a very happy time!
Great video! Another of the trains I have on my bucket list. I really like Nice, 2 years ago I spent a week there and I lived just a short distance from Gare de Nice Ville. But I traveled by train only from there to Monte Carlo. I look forward to being able to return to Nice and take a trip with Thello to Milan! Greetings from snowy Prague :-)
Haha greetings Pete! I've been to nice many times, but never stayed there. I stayed on a boat near there a few years ago 🤣 Monaco is lovely isn't it 😀🍻
Thanks for these videos. They've really helped me decide that I'm definitely gonna be interrailing next year when things calm down, and I'll hopefully go around Europe for a month or so. I've managed to convince a few friends to go as well! Thanks so much for making these videos!
Hello! Thank you for sharing the nice train trip video!! I must say I envy you that you still have many sleeper services you can enjoy in Europe and UK. We had lots of overnight trains but as Bullet train network extends, we only have one short distance sleeper left in Japan now, which is verge of death...enjoy the ride of sleeper trip and looking forward to it from the far east!! Thank you again!!
Please! Visit Japan after this Pandemic will be over! I'd love to be your guide and let's take the sleeper ride together!! Looking forward to see you!!
Thank you for an excellent review ! I have not yet travelled on the Thello service, but in view of your comments, I will certainly try it out once I can escape the U.K ! I have taken the train from Genoa to Nice previously, and can thoroughly recommend you visit Imperia - a truly splendid City.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Imperia is definitely on my to-do list, I just haven't quite made it yet despite going through many times. Too busy heading to ride the freccias 🤣
Hi. I am from Brazil. Around four years agp I was in Firenze, took a train to Nice. We need change the train in Genoa, stoped in Ventmiglia, and so we took a train to Nice. Similar your trip. After some days in Nice, we took a train to Marselle, another wonderfull trip. Congratulation for the video
Next time, take an earlier train so that we can see all the scenery in day light. I've been on the same route, and it really is a nice part of the world. I could easily live there. Nice job on the video. @@NonstopEurotrip
Another brilliant video. Your channel is quickly becoming my favorite travel video site. I agree with your opinion on the views of this route. Simply stunning! Thanks!
Thank you, nonstop eurotrip! So, you might as well say it right away, I loved your video !! It is exceptional what you have shown us. Yes, we took this train several times. Yes, we have never been disappointed. I know the Nice train station by heart. As well as that of Monaco, Ventimiglia etc ... I would have plenty of anecdotes to tell you, we have taken this line many times. I know the line by heart. So you have to know that this line is always full. Marseille is my city. The Marseille-Ventimiglia, Marseille-Bordeaux, Marseille-Paris, Marseille-Chessy Marne la Vallée Chessy TGV and Marseille Roissy CDG airport lines are still full. For example, in October, we took an Intercités Marseille-Toulouse, and it was full. We were even surprised. So, Monaco station is splendid and looks in all respects, in design, to the Parisian RER. Magnificent !!! You saw how many tunnels there are on the line! Wow! Awesome! Thank you for enjoying the TGV at Nice station and another wonderful train too! You filmed a Marseille-Nice, I'm impatient !!! In intercity !!! Great !!! And yet another similar trip. Beautiful, I would really like to have your opinion on a line that I know well. I had a great time in your video, every second. You showed everything well. But I was scared once when you tried to open where it was forbidden: what would have happened if the door had opened? You would have blocked the train !!! Be careful. Thank you very much to you.
Thank you for another lovely comment Louis! I love Marseille, I've stayed quite a few times at Airbnbs there. You must like this train because it goes from France and there's no compartments! 🤣 I'll be careful with the door at the back next time, sorry 😉🇨🇵
I remember Nice station well. We used to play gigs there every so often at a place called ‘Wayne’s Bar’ and one year I decided to travel down from the UK by train whilst the rest of the band flew, as usual. I took all my gear with me and obviously it took a lot longer than the plane, but it was a wonderful journey. I was particularly impressed at being able to have a proper glass of wine at high speed and you could leave it on the side table and it wouldn’t move a bit. Great days!
@@NonstopEurotripI think I’ll be confined to the UK rail network for a bit but Europe plans so far: schwebebahn in May, Milan trams, Ferrovia Circumetnea sometime in Sept and Porto to Pochino branch line I n Oct (all travel permitting of course). I’d like to get back to Poland, maybe Krakow just a bit limited on time atm. I have two trips to the US booked but they’re looking unlikely which is a shame as I was planning some more Amtrak stuff.
@@LetsMakeaTrip Circumetnea is definitely on my to-do list. I didn't have enough time when last on Sicily ☹️ Amtrak doesn't really interest me, I still have so much to do in Europe 😊🇪🇺

The brakes don't half squeak! 😆 Love the views of the coast. 😎 Not bad for the price, service and product. 👏 Frecciarossa trains are better. 😉 The stations are outstanding! 🇬🇧
Awesome report, thanks! So basically the Ventimiglia and Genoa stop is 40 minutes (!) altogether only to change locos, it's insane! Just by using a non loco hauled train would save (let's say 4 mins at each locations) 32 mins! So basically it would be a 4 hours (and 15 mins) ride.
amazing trip on the thello service from nice in France to Milan in Italy via the wealthy microstate of Monaco some really great coastline views along the Mediterranean ocean and also the historic architecture of Milan
Dear Nonstop Eurotrip, I like it very much. But you don't mentioned Pavia, my town, which is between Genoa and Milan. I would like that you will come to visit it one day. Thanks.
Interesting video! Thisis part of one of the trips I've put together for once this pandemic is done and dusted. I'd spend a few hours in Monte Carlo, and split the leg in Genoa for the night, before carrying on to Milan. Rode their Milan - Paris service in '18.... 76 minutes late leaving Milan, 2 hours late into Gare de Lyon. Took forever and a week to get refunded..... On-board service was just fine, though...
Fully agree with the need to clean the windows. Neglect of this maintenance seems to be the most "popular" way for rail operators to save money. Amtrak please note!
Ok so this isn’t going to make sense but ... I’d prefer the comfort/leg space of First Class but the decor of Second Class. 🙄. I agree with you ... thelo needs to get after the dirty windows! The scenery along the way was absolutely beautiful 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
