20 years ago, when I was a student/early in career and I was using regularly the trains to go to work/university, trenitalia was a nightmare, both for the trains and the organization (delays, super old trains, not clean at all, etc). I then moved abroad so I stopped using the italian trains. Few weeks back, I had a trip to Italy and I was nicely surprised to see that the situation improved A LOT. To be honest I had no complains at all, and all journeys by train have been great! Thumbs up to Italy!

What impresses me is the fact that the ETR1000 windows are big. There must not be very many tight tunnels, unlike the shinkansen where tight tunnels are very common and are the cause of some of their loudest noise pollution, therefore the train designs must mitigate the noise and air pressure as much as possible.

I haven't travelled with Trenitalia yet, I have travelled with Italo and I liked it a lot.
What I missed was a cafeteria service on board.
It was a journey that I imagine was from Rome or Naples to Venice, but I went up in Florence to Santa Lucia and yes, I liked the scenery a lot and the service was good.
The vending machines are fine, but the offer was rather fair and they didn't have many products.
However, I like the idea that there is competition between Trenitalia and Italo and that is why I like that in my country there is Renfe, Trenitalia and also SNCF and it will make travelling by train something normal and everyday compared to the plane and it will improve competition and the main beneficiary will be the customer.

The Netherlands has a 1500V DC overhead lines train supply system that cannot meet high-speed trains' power requirements. Italy has changed from 3000V DC to 25kV AC for their high-speed lines. Their trains are built for both supply systems, so they can use old slow lines still equipped with 3000V DC with reduced speed.

@gottfriedheumesser1994 Yes, they can. We have Velaro's, TGV's, and more running in NL under 1500V DC at reduced speed. Multisystem trains work just fine under 1500V DC.

  • @tm8473

The most incredible part of the italian HSR is the engineering challenge in relation to the orography. Italy is a dense populated country, long and narrow in shape with many high mountains, so two lines should carry a lot of trains (local passengers, HSR users and goods) using very long tunnels and high bridges. Those lines are thus heavily used over the whole day.
Indeed the train frequency is another noticeable aspect of the HSR service. In the north-south axe, there's one HS train every 15 minutes, like some metro service in huge metropolitan areas. That's sometimes the reason behind some occasional chain dalays that can easily reach 2 or more hours on the entire timetable.
IN general my most important aspects as traveller are the realiability of the service, the price, the quietness. Trenitalia AV is not cheap at all, unless you book some week in advance. Prices are designed to be competitive with airlines, not to be related to the company costs. The realiability is sometimes bad (5-10%) due the high congestion of the main lines. Sadly is not infrequent to find noisly passengers too.

Those who bend in curves so to speak. Pendolino in the world was synonymous, until 10 years ago, with high-speed trains. Pendolino is an Italian name but, for example, in Australia, it is an example, LIKE PAPARAZZI...you English, you hate Italy so much because, feel inferior, and the ferocity of your propaganda, to destroy the image of the soldiers in WW2, fortunately the truth is coming out, when they lost the battles, the British said, often in agreement with former Nazis, that it was the Germans who beat you. Help yourself even from Hollywood you have cowardly destroyed thousands of dead Italians who fought, increasing the myth of Rommel. In Africa, the Italians without water and ammunition caused thousands of casualties to an army with 75mm, Italy had 35mm tanks that served as reminders to the sherman

Bologna is my city. The name came from the celtic tribe of Boi, in Gallia Citerior (now Pianura Padana), before the roman conquest.

400 km/h ??? are u sure ??? That´s the max speed "by Design", it was only certified to a max speed of 360 Km/h... that is never reached in italian railways that "only" allow 300 km/h :P

In Tuscany they are build, all, ANSALDO HAS ALWAYS CREATED AND HAS BEEN CREATING GREAT ENGINEERS, ANSALDO ENERGY HAS REMAINED ITALIAN BECAUSE IT IS STRATEGIC, IT BUILDS NUCLEAR REACTORS, TURBINES, ANSALDO BREDA IS HITACHI ITALY, ONLY THIS ACTIVITY makes HITACHI in Italy, learn how they are made trains by Italian engineers, England unfortunately does not have these capabilities, not to mention tunnels from Florence to Bologna, multi-storey stations, Italy is cut in two from north to south and to the north the Alps,

The tables look pretty bad. You can fold them out, but then there's the raised cupholder part that means you wouldn't be able to use a mouse with a laptop. Oh well.

this train is 400km/h or 300? Does this train feel smooth when riding? Still feel shaken

    • @kromeboy
      @kromeboy 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      300. The ride is smooth on high speed rail, and less smooth on standard rail.
By less smooth I mean you can still have a glass of water on the table.

The train is capable of 400km/h max by design and of 360km/h cruise speed, but only 300kmh are allowed on Italian high speed lines.
