I have 3 of the M18 fans. I stocked up back in 2017 before Hurricane Irma. I live in South Florida. Fans are a must down here, for hurricane prep and just in general due to the heat. I’m still going to buy the m12 fan because of the size and the fact it’s quieter.
I am an electrician working in the heat and humidity in Florida. It's hot this year. I bought one of these and it goes with me everywhere I go. I also bought 2 M12 6.0 amp hour batteries just for it. With the 2 fully charged batteries, the fan lasts the entire day. As long as I'm in the direct flow of air coming from the fan I'm cooled off a bit. My sweat evaporates much faster so my clothes don't become completely saturated with sweat. It's a really good product. Very light weight so it's easy to move around. If you're looking for something to keep you cool on a hot job site, this fan, and any of the fans like it will work okay. Obviously nothing is going to be able to cool you down like an AC or a cold shower, but this will keep you in the game for a little longer each day.
Great review Mark. These 12 volt tools these days are mind blowing. It’s unreal. Just wanted to tell you I’ve been watching your videos for quite a while. You do an outstanding job. Great videos. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. Looking forward to the next one. Stay safe out there my friend
I love the m18 fan I have two. The best part it comes with an ac plug. I use it every night in my bedroom for white noise. Mark you did a great review on the m12 fan. Regards Rob
Great review. I switched to mostly M12 to try to lighten the load at work and haven’t been disappointed. This little fan is great. Misting and AC adapter for all fans would be nice but I know that when a bunch of tech gets crammed in that it usually shortens the lifespan.
I was thinking about my M18 fan that has an AC adapter and would estimate that I use the battery about 85% of the time. I only use the adapter when running it in the house overnight.
its nice to see a fan on the M12 platform. I have alot of milwaukee tools and other brands as well.. A few years ago I hought the Ridgid fan because it has a dial for the speed instead of 1,2 & 3. and it was more rpm's than the milwaukee. It also was a hybrid where you can use an extension cord instead of having to buy the mfg power cord. The ridgid can be dialed in for more precise control. This year they updated their fan to be more powerful than the old one.
I use the M18 ac adapter when I'm on a summer vacation at a cottage with no ac. Otherwise, the battery on the M18 seems to last long enough around the shop.
I got the m12 fan a few weeks ago wish it did have the a/c cord but I also have 10 or more m12 batteries . Good product so far and also got the extended warranty for around 10 bucks cnd
Two tips, tip one is the battery indicator isn’t an upgrade over the m18, it’s standard on all m12 tools Tip 2, for my fellow sweaty guys, sports shirts are your best friend. The Milwaukee workskin shirts have been great for me, absorbs sweat and dried off quick!
Wow i should have picked this up yesterday along with the m18 fan I bought. I ended up going with the m18 since it has the ac feature. I guess I'll pick one up tomorrow. I can't believe all these milwaukee tools that I have been buying lately. The m18 fan yesterday at the m12 surge kit 3 days ago. My friends can't believe it also since I've always been a Dewalt guy in a milwaukee company. I so far replaced my 20v impact and hammer drill with m12 versions. I like the lighter weight. To think it all started with the nailers earlier this year.
I'm a big fan of the M12 Surge. I pretty much use it all the time unless I need a faster impact for bigger projects. Milwaukee makes great tools and they're constantly adding new items and improvements.
@@MarkThomasBuilder yep I just seen the new impact the 3453! I'm tempted to get one and put it up against my 4 day old surge. I wonder if it means a new surge is coming out soon. Today I left my 9 year old 20v impact and went all day with just the surge. Both drilling and driving were all done with it which was bothersome having to change bits while installing hardware but sure beat carrying both a drill and driver. I really wish I could have recorded it to show just how capable the m12 surge is
I heavily invested into the M18 and M12 lines and lighty invested in the Ryobi 18v line. This $80 M12 fan does not beat the Ryobi $25 18V fan, which was actually $20 a year ago, and not because it's 18V but rather because it's just better value for the money.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I do believe it does require a municipal pressurized water source. A draw/siphon tube option would be ideal in addition to a garden hose connection, especially for remote sites. Perhaps even integration with their pack-out cooler or additional pack-out drink dispenser. I was considering making something on my own out of the M18 Backpack Sprayer and the fan however the pandemic hitting had other ideas.
I like the idea of the Packout cooler integration. I just searched the Arctic brand misting fan that sits on a 5g bucket and I noticed it does require a pressurized garden hose.
@@MarkThomasBuilder Ha, Mark, Milwaukee just announced the Packout XL Cooler. I feel an integrated fridge/warmer and water misting fan is magically going to appear. Fanciful thinking, I know.
Looks like a good fan like my other M12 tools! I wish they would make a M12 or M4 noise canceling headphone set with Bluetooth and Am/Fm. Or at least use their USB series
That's a good point. I was just at the Milwaukee event and asked the product manager who specializes in batteries if there will ever be an adapter. She didn't say anything that led me to believe that there ever would be one. They're focusing on increasing battery performance, like the new M12 high output battery that was just announced.
I really want to buy this but I’m hoping it will come out with options for outlet plug-in for the next generation. I can hold out since it isn’t essential

Why would they not have the hybrid option it’s 2022. Most of their lights have that option and it’s time to think about us consumers. I run my M18 fan on a/c power 24/7 and when I lose power I still have the battery automatically kick in.
