    A lot of respect for those who are managing a lot of tasks and responsibilities each day.What they do is enormous and most important, the lives of the men and women they lead each day is paramount.Among other things,this is a education for me today, Skyler about battalion chiefs.

    That’s great Skyler. Once again I will go back in time with
    a little FDNY history. The typical battalion vehicle in the 60s was a Dodge or Ford station wagon. It had 1 rotating beacon on the roof. On the front bumper there were two brackets. On one a mechanical siren was mounted sideways, and on the other a bell was placed. A pull cord went through the engine compartment to the inside of the vehicle to ring the bell. Basic equipment was carried before the days of modern electronics. Bunker coats( no bunker pants in those days) extinguisher, irons etc.Also books containing information that they have access to using the laptop today. Simple voice radio for communication.

    These are very enjoyable to watch. You must have an excellent reputation with FDNY to be able to get access to show us all the cool stuff they have. I'm sure it's not easy in this day and age. They must get a lot of people knocking on the door wanting to look at stuff.

      @@SkylerFire Thank You Skyler, looking forward to the Field Comm and Division Chiefs Fleet Fridays. It is very different from Ontario Canada to FDNY. We have District Chiefs similar to your Battalion Chief's then Platoon Chiefs similar to your Division Chiefs, from there we go to Assistant Deputy Chief then to Deputy Chief then to the Chief.

    I got on in 1980, and was in L-3 from May 83 till promotion 8/90. Lost a lot of friends and former probies who were in the house on 9/11. L-3 was active, but never got under # 31 on the Fire Bell listing. If only Sty-town and Peter Cooper had not been built. If anyone wants to read of that time my detailed work MY TURN ON THE FIRELINES 1980-2003 is still available.

    I didn't know that battalion chief vehicles were so complex. I also didn't know there was a need for a BC to have an SCBA. I would think they wouldn't need to enter an IDLH environment.

    • @SkylerFire
      @SkylerFire  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      2nd due Battalion Chief goes inside the fire building. If a fire is really Smokey the 1st due Chief might need the SCBA

    • @SkylerFire
