This is super discouraging I hope the next game is at least a little better. Hoo boy everything comes to an end and I feel like I won't get to experience what I did when I was first introduced to the series back in 2142, and what everything through BF4 continued to deliver on... I feel like Big Gaming is sort of like Starbucks now. Albeit I do like to enjoy a great cup of coffee from a local coffee shop, the reality is they are hit or miss. But I can always get a decent cup at Starbucks. And I feel like the new "data driven" approach to all tech will continue to yield lukewarm games that ensure the shareholders make their money, rather than the old way of games either hitting or missing. It's much safer to follow the trends and cater to everyone and nobody at the same time.

I've been in several leadership/middle management positions at corporations and was only written up like once and never fired but yet I quit them all because of the way some of those above me started forcing me to run my side of things when I knew what I was doing and was successful at it and the things I was being forced to do were objectively pointless or counterproductive and the fall out from those stupid decisions would often also be scapegoated my way or towards my people which is about the fastest way to piss me off if my people don't deserve the blame.
My point is just because he quit doesn't mean he wasn't 'forced' to do so and people talking about the photo he posted of him having lunch with his people could've been his final gift to them if he was tired of those above him having a negative impact on him, his work and his people and knew that it would be hell for those under him if/when he left. A lot of people that either haven't been in those positions or just didn't care have no idea how stressful that job is when you do care and you have to balance what is best for the company, what's best for your people, what your boss wants, what your boss's boss wants, and all the other f ups that come along.
There was a point where I was literally doing the job of 3 leads meaning I was the only one incharge of my team and another team both of which were supposed to have minimum 2 leads each (I say the job of 3 leads instead of 4 because I wasn't doing 100% of the work for the other 2 lead positions) and it stayed that way for like 4-5 months until they started bitching at me for minor shit even though I was literally doing more and had more responsibility than anyone else in the store of at least 70 employees and I was given keys and alarm codes to the whole place (which was above my pay grade) because those above me were tired of staying late during covid when we were incredibly busy restocking late into the early morning hours so they would leave me incharge of the whole place including those that were technically equal to me in other departments which created a whole other bottle bs and all the while those above me are going around bitching at my guys and training them incorrectly while I'm having to cover someone else's position when they could've just did the shit I has having to do and I could've did my shit so eventually after months of endless bs I quit. It was a similar situation at the job before that too but that one wasn't as bad and tbh some of it was my fault partially because there was a death in the family and it fucked my family up really bad and I had my own shit too and my head wasn't in the game so I can't put it all on them however they bitched at me for taking half a day off to go to the funeral so yeah I kinda stopped caring who fault was what at that point.
Obviously it still pisses me off and I could literally write a book about all that shit but anyway I wouldn't be surprised if he left because of his bosses trying to force him to make stupid game design decisions or do wrong by his people or anything like that. He doesn't strike me as the type to leave after only a couple years unless something is up and in my experience it usually takes a few months for the BS to pop up then you tolerate it for at least a few months and then it gets better or that person leaves and then it gets better but then when the BS comes back again you're just done and leave because you see how its going end up and don't want to waste your time. In other words I think this is actually probably really really bad news but we'll see

I have to say, after playing every Battlefield game since 2003, the few that actually had a campaign, I feel didn't add anything to the game. You really can't say that it helps in learning the gun and vehicle mechanics because they are always quite different PVP. And you can't say it gives you a feel for the maps in the game because a lot of the campaign is played in areas of the map that typically aren't playable in PVP. So these are misnomers. As far as character and lore, really? Who gives a shit about that? How does that make for a better experience when playing a first-person shooter in PVP?! The amount of money, time, and effort dedicated to character development, voice acting, story telling/lore, and a campaign that may give you a couple hours of enjoyment that you will most likely only play once, is just a waste of time. There are plenty of story driven games out there, BF doesn't need to be one of them. Just give us a working game at release and as many maps, guns, and vehicles as possible.

    • @szymussmilitaryfreak
      @szymussmilitaryfreak 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Here is the thing - they could to some extent use parts of campaign as a base for co-op experience. It could be interesting direction to go, especially if use a random algorythm for setting objectives, enemies, weapons/equipment/vehicle etc. Heck - they could go in to quasi Helldivers direction with spawning players as airborne paratroopers.

Even if they made a campaign for the Specialists and made them more interesting, I still wouldn’t prefer Specialists/Operators/Heroes over playing as a grunt, personally. When he say's "I want to thank the BF community for allowing me to listen WHILE I WAS ABLE" is a red flag to me.
This reads that he was listening to us and implementing our aspirations for the game while he was allowed and then it sounds like the direction was being overruled and pushed down another narrative by EA and it made it difficult for him, and after that he didn't agree with it and stepped away because it could be shaping up to be like BF2042. Actually wondering if EA has learnt anything from the past and are ploughing ahead with their Blinker's on?! I won't have any confidence in EA until I see info on what this new BF Title is actually all about. Marcus's departure from Ridgeline Studios will probably make more sense at that point if my assumptions are correct. Will be interesting to see if more start to follow after Marcus has left. Calling it now. They'ved scrapped single player for a BR. they'll use what Macus has established as the Lore of the new games storyline for seasonal content.
They're going back to the orig plan they had for 2042, minus the specialist system. They've gotten past the tech issues they had when dev'ing 2042, and the current game is only exiting to expand those systems to pump out seasonal content like skins etc so they can ramp it up for the next game.
They still plan on delivering a solid multi, because they know they need that first to make sure peole will dip into the BR, because if it fails they'll need the multi to fall back on.
The biggest issue will be what support does multi get vs the BR if it takes off? This reek$ of EA greed

I'm not going to tell you how to run your channel of course, but I think videos like this only fan the flames and don't provide nearly as much value to the conversation as it does to bolster a bunch of what is essentially baseless speculation. A lot of people commenting here are making wild accusations with absolutely zero evidence to back up any of them. Sure, it could have been any number of things and we could sit here and spitball all day about it, but it also could have been that he was just feeling a need to take his professional life in a different direction; it doesn't have to be any deeper than that.
I know BF news has been slow for a few weeks, but I personally don't think this slight nugget of news warrants as much reaction as it has apparently gotten.

I was subscribed until today and actually enjoyed your videos. Sad, but my personal policy is to not sub to channels with click bait titles. Will still watch some videos from time to time though if they are suggested to me.

Whoever does the animations needs to get rid of the gun bouncing up and down while your soldier running its immersion breaking and has never been in Battlefield that’s more of a cod thing . Battlefield has a smooth left to right sway like a soldier running in sync . BF2042 has a jittery up and down bounce and I hate it

I don't get excited about BF campaigns.
Lehto's vision could have just as easily been taking the campaign into a horrible direction. Just because he worked on Halo doesn't immediately means the campaign was going to be good under his direction. Plus he's only one guy. Four devs from the L4D2 team and others made Back 4 Blood and it was COMPLETE TRASH!

I have next to no faith next game will be good. But like many, I am truly hoping it will be okay, that it will be better, playable, excellent. Anything but this trash the company is pushing with 2042. And lets be honest. There's good stuff in it, but it's horrible in comparison to any other BF game. Any other AAA or really even AA game.
Lehto and other people leaving might really be RIP for the franchise. Or it might not mean anything. But most likely, and we might not find out for years, it is a bad thing.

We will never really see the full fruits of his labour. Maybe he was working on a cool campaign, but him leaving isn't that big of a deal. I don't play BF for campaigns and BF has been great in the past without him. I just want them to get their shit together on the MP side. EA needs to stop pushing woke agendas and stop designing their games around predatory monetization. Just focus on making a quality game.

Issues like unwanted roll changes, political intervention, lies of work effort to squander money, the over spending on things like EMPLOYEE LUNCH OUTINGS! Or maybe the overwhelming amount of steps it takes to implement change during the development because of people’s fear of words and people’s frail emotions. I have heard stories of developers ignoring tasks because their work will go unused. There are plenty of top tier developers that have left gaming due to the new staff out of school. To me it sounds like he spoke up to EA and said listen we need to go back and get rid of specialist and make a game the fans asked for. EA said that not for you to say we need $$$ and we will not go back on what we started. Like always EA stops the dev from actually making the game they want and they are forced to make the game EA wants. Now he seems he like the gaming world has gone to shit by these big time companies mico managing every step of the way. If you can't hold a good dev to help in your game and needing multiple studios to make it. I have little Faith in the Franchise. It was the same with original dice when EA bought them out and then took over everything and all those dev has left the company and it shows over the years of battlefield just falling short. There is not a EA game that is made that is worth unless anything u enjoy apex. EA games quality has been lacking over years
