Sir how to change branch in Economics at IIT Roorkee? And we want BTech in economics, please protest against this, please sir please......
It happens after 1st sem at roorkee,while in other iits,it happens after 1st year,which is definitely a plus point.

2. What is the average package of economics department in roorkee and kgp?
Ps: I want to go to top 7 iits but there i am getting core branches. I found out ki core branches ke most placements finance and consultancy me hi lagte hai thats why i am motivated to study economics. But my parents highlighted that choosing BS over Btech and studying non tech branch from IIT might be an issue. Please guide as counselling chalu ho chuki hai
BS or BTech,we covered,but anyways,that doesn’t affect much during placements.Most of the people in non tech branches go for tech/consultancy/finance jobs only,So why not choose a branch whose core also has sufficiently good scope,and connection with real world,along with free time to develop other skills.
1st priority should be your interest(if you have in any particular field)
And also in Economics,maths has a important role to play,and physics and chemistry doesn’t have much,So if you are comfortable with that,Can consider choosing Economics.

@@shlokneema take btech , my cousin in kgp says its hard for placements in some companies. If you want eco then take a proper eco college, not a technical college

In the list provided,BSMSHS is Economics ,you can check from the list.

Students can go for “foreign exchange program” from Economics branch. One of my batchmates is going to Germany under the same.

As such keh nhi sakte,but since Humara BTech nhi hai,BS-MS hai,diversity wise mil sakti hai, plus Economics background too might help.

iit kgp eco or iit roorkee eco
Both are good.
Pros-
IIT kgp eco has been running for long time,have placement stats.
IIT roorkee eco -Latest curriculum.Comes above kgp in nirf ranking.
So depends on location preference too…
But overall I think IIT roorkee eco has a slight edge.
I was under same dilemma two yrs back but chose iitr coz of the location... But now i find me decision right looking at the faculties and exposure u get here
i will suggest kgp
kgp is anyday a better IIT, don't go by the NIRF of just one year

As mentioned ,there is no discrimination based on degree. Most of the companies open for all.

IIT Roorkee economics vs core branches(Civil, chemical,production) ?
The plus point with economics is that it’s core also has vast scope,which isn’t the case with others. Plus if you have to pursue/explore other fields,you can,since it’s a chill branch.
But again depends on your interest too.
Consider all these factors.

@@rishitgakhar6518 for finance,it’s one of the best! For any other interest,you will get free time to pursue that.About cutoff,it’s bound to increase this year with growing awareness.And with latest curriculum,it definitely is one of the best.

Most of the Quant companies open for all branches.
Is iit roorkee economics is 4 yr course or 5 yr course
It’s a 5yr course with exit option at 4th year with a BS degree.

Yeah,branch can be changed from BS to BTech or vice Versa in IIT roorkee,but do check for the other IIT.
