    **PLEASE NOTE** Add the beard BEFORE you add the hat
    I totally messed up here .. I usually glue beard on ... then pull the hat down over the top of the beard ! it's definitely the better way to do it

      @@ClairesCraftyCorner You are most welcome. Apparently baby gnomes don't have a beard.. yes I actually asked in Google..lol.. in fact they are born with no beard and slim.. so not a lovely round tummy... lol ha ha ha (mysticinvestigations.com) just in case you think Pammi is pulling a joke on you.. oh my days I am laughing so much right now.. well maybe as you have done them pretty much each year and no changes in styles then why bother.. I can't believe I actually researched gnomes.. but you did ask.. lol xxx Got to keep my favourite Crafty Person well informed xxx ha ha ha oh my side's are hurting.. xxx

    I’m so glad you made gnomes. I watched someone make them last year, but don’t remember who. I did buy all the bits I needed, but my husband used the rice 🙀. I was watching and wondering if the female got a beard. Phew! I was relieved when you said she’d have plaits.
    I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but putting the rice in the freezer overnight should kill any little critters that may be hanging out.
    These guys are fab.

      TP Rolls, a Fab. upcycle!! Craft wire will work well for holding the shape too or even scraps of wire edged ribbon. Cushion (fibre) fill is nice too, if You want to plump it up a bit.

    You always glue beard and hair or braids on first so hat can go over it. The beard and hair need to come from Under the hat.

      @ClairesCraftyCorner  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Deb .. thankyou so much for all the fab advice ! Xx and for taking the time to comment ❤❤
      I always glue the beard first ... then hat down over it... just as I did with my 2017 Gnome ... I have pinned a comment at the top of the comment section letting everyone know I messed up ! 🤣🤣🤣 and to make sure the beard gets glued first but I dont think many people see it or look at it lol ... I dont know what I was thinking on this day 🤣🤣🤣

    Always use clear Nylon, strong upholstery thread, fishing line, or dental floss for support over your rubber bands because the rubber will get brittle and break over time. I love the baby especially.
    You can do one for other holidays also (Valentines Day, Easter, Halloween, etc.)

    These are so cute!!! I love the baby gnome, I've been making them, but not a baby. I wasn't sure how to make it. Thanks for the idea. I had the family idea for my daughter and her family. This is so cute. I don't use the cones cause I like the stocking type hat.That it so cute the way you did the beard. And the girl one, so creative. I made a girl scarecrow for fall, and it turned out so cute. And the snow woman on the other side, so cute. TFS Love, Love, Love them, the blush made them look so much better.

    Just using string or a quilting thread works great to put over the rubber bands. Also if you do not cut top of sock off and add a tad bit of stuffing or batting to it and partial fill then tie off again with a rubber band it works great as a filler for the hats and no need for the styrofoam cones.

      Also freeze rice one week to kill any possible weevil eggs. Epson salt may be used also instead of rice and it’s fun to add essential oils a couple drops to your rice or salt and they smell wonderful for a long time.

    First, I love, love, LOVE them all! They are so stinking cute! Especially the baby! I definitely have to make them all!... Second, THANK YOU so very much for sharing this video! It was so much fun! This is the first time watching one of your videos, you do an awesome job making them!... Third, I saw your pinned note and it answered my question as to why you put the hat on before the beard and braids lol, I have my "why did I just do that?" moments, too! lol... Fourth, I just love your accent! I could listen to you all night! I was having fun and laughing while you were having fun and laughing. It was great!... Fifth, I loved hearing about your stores, where you bought the items from and I am over here going "OK, that's like our dollar tree/dollar generals?" and "OH, that must be a grocery store" lol... Sixth, learning new words. I didn't catch on to what you called the pacifier. Over here, they are pacifiers. Or as others call them, a binky. I guess it depends on how old you are, the younger generations call them binkies. I did once hear a parent call it a plug. I was reading the comments and one commented that the "dummy idea was fab". It stumped me for a sec. Dummy is like calling someone stupid so I read it as the stupid idea was fab, then rationally, I had to figure it out, fab usually means fabulous so dummy must mean something else, maybe she's talking about the pacifier? I now see I was right! lol. I had already known what a plait was, grew up down south (in Georgia) with my long hair and my friends wanting to plait my hair... Sorry, this is sooooo long lol... Your video was awesome and I definitely am going to make me some!... Plus my baby is having her first baby, a girl (I'm finally going to be a grandma! YAY!) and I plan on making her a little pink baby when the time comes!... I 'liked' and saved video, subscribed and set notifications... Hope you and your family have the best of the coming holidays!...

    Great tutorial, thank you. Personally I prefer to fill them with rice however that is not economical when it comes to shipping. Most people don't realize that filling one of the larger socks with rice can weight as much as a few pounds. I just sent one to my brother in upper Canada and the postage cost me $20.00! I am currently trying to figure how how to create a weighted base and use poly fill for the remainder of the body however so far I can't seem to get them to stand up straight.
