Loved this video! It is a great format idea as you address something I've always wondered about, but have never seen anyone put out a direct comparison before. This was a great opportunity to showcase the differences between the everyman, semi-pro, and pro. Great work Eric!!
Such a great idea for a video! It's amazing how efficient pros are. They're looking for every second, half second or quarter second they can find. Awesome video! 🤘
Wow! Seeing Sam do what he talked about is even more impressive! He smoked the corner! I wonder if Adam from the privateer (Pinkbike) remembered and did the same thing!
BCpov I actually did! Seems like I didn't watch carefully enough :D EDIT: Your are totally right! Its in minute 2:41 (in the Pinkbike video)! He may not be as fast as Sam but he remembered where to go!
Little tip for those mentioning suspension of the pro's bikes, use the cog icon and play the video at half speed - 0.5. You can see the level of travel with increased clarity. :-)
Great video!! First time I see a vid like this and it’s awesome. You can see how pros just send every corner and they attack way much harder. Bur also they have the bikes that can handle that kind of aggressiveness.
Great video. I knew they were fast but this puts it into perspective. A friend of mine says the Olympics should have a lane for each event where we regular mortals 'compete' against the Olympians. Imagine watching swimming, 100-meter sprint, 1600 meter run and see just how fast and strong the Olympians are. I'd watch that!!! :-)
One of the best videos I've seen this week! Thanks man. Also, you can see that the pros were pumping that big hole really hard and they didnt let the bike jump up, I think that's the main difference. Oh and also they are just way better :D
This is a pretty cool video there’s a lot of good teaching here. Technical riding on a bicycle sucks when you don’t know what you’re doing, but as you learn how to handle the situations seems like it becomes much more of a challenge and more fun if you know how to do it. This wonderful video shows you just how it’s done! Great idea for a video!!
That's neat to show people. I've been showing my boys since they were 4 how to pick good lines. Now, they surprise me on the trail. They either nail it or follow me. Even if it appears hard, the quickest and most efficient lines are always the most fun!
Just put together a 2015 Banshee n a pair of 2014 Fox Float Kashimas 34mm(thru Pinkbike !) for 160mm travel front n rear after riding a hardtail for 13 years !! My last full suspendies got cockaroached(stolen) ! It's Sunday, Aug. 26, Hood River is a cool upper 60s after 6 weeks of b-b-baking with insane choke fire smoke and I've been working 6 days a week and am farrrgin poooped ! But I can see the mountains today cause the westerlies kicked in and after I watched yr vid, I'm turning off my lap top and stretching and arranging for a shuttle so I can mob n mosh from 3900 to 500 ft !!!!! YeeeaAH ! Thx for being the catalyst !!
Eric fantastic comparison. I find most pros just go for it, they trust there bike and possisioning and just let it flow as fast as possible without out overly crazy risk
In regards to that hole...there's probably also something to be said for bike setup between the pros and the privateers. The pros probably are all running 170-180mm forks, some will have coil sprung forks, they are very well maintained, and they are professionally dialed in. But of course equipment is always secondary to skill and conditioning which the pros have lots of.
@@HerrSheeps I know I do ussaully maxed out so I never bottom out I realized most people don't ride like that when I sold my trek too a guy their where like wowser that's stiff suspension I showed them I had it maxed out for the way I ride and they where like okay cool thanks so glad I got rid of that trek don't like their bikes but Norco,Cove,Devinci,Banshee and Ghost have pretty much the best bikes in the business from experience Note though their are some low end too high end with these brands ....
Honestly it looked to me like some of the pros paced themselves down the hill in preparation for the hole. As in they may have gone slower than just flying down the hill and losing all momentum at the bottom and a bunch of energy. That being said the equipment is likely another factor altogether.
It’s amazing to watch the difference between guys or girls who are really good riders, next to pros, or just insanely skilled riders..... they’re just on another level
Pros are pros. For sure there bikes are top notch ,set up perfectly , they ride fast pick the right line and maintain speed thru-out the course. Besides the training they have a gift to ride better than most . Great video !
that's pretty eye opening. really shows how important line choice is, and bike control around berms. there's also something to be said for budget. i'd be afraid of tacoing a wheel, where as a pro can beat the crap out of stuff and know there is a whole tent full of spares when they finish.
I did a race in Lajitas, TX in the beginner class, Dave Weins was in the expert class. He passed me 5 miles from the finish. They had done 4x the distance and a lot more climbing. I had done 18 miles. We all started at the same time ;-) There is a reason they are pro's.
I think the pros aren't necessarily stronger just more prepared for holes like the one in the last stage you could see them all stretch out a bit just before to be able to take the hit better
Well the pros have the sponsorship for the super sweet bike hardware and while that doesn't in anyway improve your skill they also have the ability to invest the time to practice and improve their abilities. Not saying the pros don't earn their spots just that the gear and the opportunity to do what they are passionate about is what makes them so awesome. Some people get put off after watching pro videos but what they don't understand is that their bikes are usually worth twice as much as my truck. Lol I had fun laughing with you there at the bottom of that hill.
You can see the difference in experience with the Pro's. When that is all you do, the whole mechanics of your body movements are just so dialed in compared to privateers. I would love to see a video of someone who is just an average rider that gets to ride all day for 3 months straight and then compare the skill level after. That difference would be huge in my mind. More confidence, more speed, and better position for sure I bet! Great Video!!! Now I want to go ride!!!!
Pros or privateers, getting out and riding is better than sitting on the couch! Great video!
Yeiii
Hell yeah brother!
Totally agree!
In North Italy we says " Rather than nothing...better Rather..."
rather be a Joey on the mountain than a bum on a couch!
Loved this video! It is a great format idea as you address something I've always wondered about, but have never seen anyone put out a direct comparison before. This was a great opportunity to showcase the differences between the everyman, semi-pro, and pro. Great work Eric!!
Seconded. The only thing that would make it even better is to add some time measurements (cathro style).
I'd love to do some time measurements next time :) It's a little tricky to do, but I'm sure I can figure it out!
Such a great idea for a video! It's amazing how efficient pros are. They're looking for every second, half second or quarter second they can find. Awesome video! 🤘
Fantastic video... very educational
Thanks RAW! It was super interesting to actual be there!
Nice dude. As a newer rider this was super interesting to have the lines pointed out. Would love more like this
Wow! Seeing Sam do what he talked about is even more impressive! He smoked the corner! I wonder if Adam from the privateer (Pinkbike) remembered and did the same thing!
If you watch the last episode, he does :)
BCpov I actually did! Seems like I didn't watch carefully enough :D EDIT: Your are totally right! Its in minute 2:41 (in the Pinkbike video)! He may not be as fast as Sam but he remembered where to go!
Yeah, what a legend...
my god he looks smooth through it too
Really cool perspective Eric...all those riders are quick but the pros are unreal!!
Little tip for those mentioning suspension of the pro's bikes, use the cog icon and play the video at half speed - 0.5. You can see the level of travel with increased clarity. :-)
Super pro video Eric! Nice work!
Great video!! First time I see a vid like this and it’s awesome. You can see how pros just send every corner and they attack way much harder. Bur also they have the bikes that can handle that kind of aggressiveness.
Man even the privateers are mind blowing!! Such great footage. Thx.
Thank you for making this video! I’ve wanted to do something like this forever. This is awesome 🙌🏽
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is one of my favorite videos of yours! Super cool to see the difference. Sam's line on that one he walked Adam through was INSANE!
Great video. I knew they were fast but this puts it into perspective. A friend of mine says the Olympics should have a lane for each event where we regular mortals 'compete' against the Olympians. Awesome video. Thanks so much for all the great content Eric.
Thanks luke!
That was a fun video dude! Definitely was cool to see the different line choices and how much faster the pro's were. Great idea.
Pro, privateer, newbie, intermediate, hardcore, dont matter as long as u enjoy the ride with ur friends..
Great video! Good to see the pros and average guys, and compare then! Thanks! Keep the good work please!

I really enjoy all your videos (especally the BCBR ones) and this is no exception. About my only criticism would be I wish this one was longer!
It was great to see the differences with the line and speed they take, thanks for sharing!
Great topic and video, Eric. It's really interesting to see the different line choices the pros take.
This was a great video Eric. Really well done.
Amazing video quality. Best biking channel on YT.
Love this! It really tells you how important line choice is.
Super important!
Loved the video ... a true eye opener. Learned a lot and would love to see more like this.
This made me feel good about my riding skill level. Now I just gotta quit smoking and maybe compete one day 🤣
YOU QUIT SMOKING YET THEN?
Daniel Hultgren yah did you
Or at least quit smoking...

Amazing video and analysis, more of these please!
I'd love to make more, but there are only so many races!
Really helpful and well done video. I am a novice but am learning to not take the easiest line but the most direct or faster.
Suuuuper cool video. Very well explained and very useful!
Great editing, love the gut sounds of everyone hitting that last hole!
This was excellent! Real-world comparisons of a variety of scenarios! NICE! Thanks! That crash victim is singing soprano now!
Excellent video......need more like it when available. Thanks for sharing
Great video. Fascinating to watch.
watching this over and over; the pros really keep their heads up and looking far down the trail.
Great vid, so hard to pick lines for speed especially during a race. Big advantages to preriding the course as well as a walk through.
Pre ride is so important!
Awesome job man! Very interestng and entertaining
After watching this video tonight . Its safe to say I'll continue watching these guys and I'll never ride a bike down a hill
pls stop pushing away the invisible person at the start XD
Loool
Didn't notice until now but now I can't unsee it.
haha, good thing you can't see me doing the voiceovers!
@@BCpov no offence mate :D
Lmaaaaooo
Thanks a lot for this comparison of approach, very entertaining and instrcutive!
what was the time difference between the pros and the priveteers?
What an interesting video. Privateers did great too! That hole was gnarly.
Very good video. Not sure if I have ever seen anything like this before, very informative.
I'd watch a 100 of these on every corner of ever race. Much more interesting than comparing pro with pro. Thanks. More like this coming?
Eric fantastic comparison. I find most pros just go for it, they trust there bike and possisioning and just let it flow as fast as possible without out overly crazy risk
Nice video! You did a good job with these comparisons
really cool video your quality is much better than similar videos much more vibrant and lively

SchmeddyBallz pros also tend to run their suspension much stiffer to handle their more aggressive pace.

@@danielnadler9282 Watch it again. They are going faster, and they just seemed to float over it.
What a great video! Great vid idea and execution
This is extremely interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Great video man! I really enjoyed it....saludos from Mexico!
Thanks for watching Alfonso!
Nice vid! I LOVE the comparisons.
You got this, cmon man. what a motivational tone :D
Great comparison, what a great way to analyze technique!
It’s amazing to watch the difference between guys or girls who are really good riders, next to pros, or just insanely skilled riders..... they’re just on another level
Really well put together video!
Could watch these videos all day
The suspension sound on Jared graves bikes is awesome!
At 5:11 began the Walmart checker!😂
Interesting comparison! Love to look at different lines!
well done... very well illustrated!!!
Great topic and content man.... keep it up
Great vid! Well done
Thanks 😊
Excellent analysis piece!
really great video Eric!
great video. good to see the compare and contrast.
Brilliant vid. Loved it.
This is great, interesting to see line/speed/handling choices. Pros aside, no bad rider in the bunch
That was friggin rad. Great vid. Wish it was longer. Oh, and the fastest line at the end was obviously down the rock face... Sam Hill knows best.
Sam knows best for sure!
On 6:50 it looks to me like the pros are unloading the front suspension to absorb the hole, ether that or the guy who whent otb wrecked the hole.
Awesome video... all riders did great to me...
I am watching videos like this one every day and all night. I didn't even start with the sport, but hell - I will xD
Cool video man! Sam is 1Cool dude! thanks mate for sharing this video.
Interesting video! Keep up the good work!
Terrific riding. Useful riding tips and BEAUTIFUL scenery. Peaceful beautiful forest.
Forgot to mention - great colour grading.
The hole on the down hill shows how much better the pros suspension is. That is not all just riding. Good stuff.
crazy man,love the videos
Awesome content, different take from most other videos. Great stuff..
Realy awesome video. Very interesting!
fantastic video man absolute fantastic and unique also
Awesome video, line choice is huge but so is mad bravery lol. You could see the pros confidence coming through.
Pros are pros. For sure there bikes are top notch ,set up perfectly , they ride fast pick the right line and maintain speed thru-out the course. Besides the training they have a gift to ride better than most . Great video !
