this is a lesson that my dad taught me many many years ago. it doesnt matter what you are using, it doesnt matter how much you spend on that fancy tool or part to improve whatever you are using. what matters is your skill with what you are using. all the fancy and expensive upgrades do 5% of the work, and 95% placebo effect. what matters is how far comfortable you are with your passion or actions with whatever it is in life. from mountain biking to pen collecting. the skill comes from you. and this young man demonstrated that point beautifully. all the love and be safe out there everyone!
For those who don’t understand the comment. Which i really liked! It reads; Luis, why don’t you ride a more expensive bike? What for? If those who ride them are behind me.

Hope you guys left him a solid tip for the great experience, I personally would have gotten his address and mailed him a set fresh tyres & tubes, as a ty.
Tip? Payment... that is the work of a day! Maybe they went for vacations and funny "diversión" but he is working and he made a great job! They live in a country where the money is at least 18 times more expensive than México... I think they could pay well for the job and not just a miserable tip. Do you have money for a $6000 bike... I think you can give at least $50 or $100.
A tip is obviously given on top of the price they were charged! After all he was their guide not their friend, he was providing a service. When have you gone to a restaurant and gave a tip without paying for your meal first?
In order for this kid to even have the bike he has. I'm sure he had to save up for a couple of months and work hard af. I know this because I was born in Mexico (now living in texas) and I know the type of life style that people have there.
The pace he maintains is something, not only the cheap heavy bike but the backpack is full and swinging. There is talent out there but lack of money and opportunity

What a legend, just shows that all the talk of old geometry not being good enough, must have through axel, more than 120mm of fork... rubbish. If the bike works, it works. Love it. Looked like you all had some fun, which is what it's all about.
3:25 it's more than a village, that's a very famous family cave from the Tarahumaras. They have kept the traditions and culture while most other tarahumaras have adopted a more western lifestyle

esto es un claro ejemplo que la practica hace al maestro ...no hay que quitar merito al que le sigue el paso, yo creo que nunca antes hizo la ruta y le sigo el paso ...una belleza
My first throught when he would gap you a little when you started the descents was that he was fearless, and knew every square inch of that trail...which would explain his speed. But then it dawned on me...he probably had nowhere near a competent set of brakes on that bike, much less any tires that would give him any braking power, and he was probably holding on for dear life!! Gotta admire the speed. He wasn't one of those guides out there for a sight seeing adventure. He wasn't going to have anyone complain about him not going fast enough! :-) Great video and riding...as always!
Nah, his brakes, while perhaps not the best, were of 2012 vintage which should be more than decent. If you want to talk bad brakes, go ride an MTB from the late 80's/early 90s with original cantilever brakes. Now those were scary!
@@Roaming50 ... Yeah, I owned one! I had a Trek 930 from about 1993-1997. I was the first person in the area to add the aftermarket the Rockshox fork. It had the rubber boots on it, and while it did soften it up a little, it completely changed the geometry from the rigid fork, and made it a lot more twitchy and difficult to ride. But...I convinced myself it was better after spending that much money, and kept on truckin'. :-)
@@Roaming50 ... I wouldn't question if they were CAPABLE of stopping him. I would be more about questioning where they stood from a service perspective. I also don't know if it was shifting correctly, because he was in an awfully high gear on a lot of those climbs. I was just thinking...bald tires is usually indicative of the rest of the bike's service history. But...it could very well have been in peak condition for all I know. I was trying to be funny....apparently, it didn't work. :-)
If this doesn't inspire people to stop making excuses and just go ride their bikes, I don't know what will. So much respect for the kid. Thanks for sharing the ride with us 🤙

I love mountain biking but hate that it is fairly exclusive socioeconomically speaking... that being said, it would be rad to get that kid a killer bike! How can we make that happen? I’m willing to pitch in!
Have to bear in mind if that is a high crime area (as mentioned at the end) his bike could get stolen and maybe he could get beat up for it. I'd more be up for getting his bike new shocks and tyres etc which will make a big difference. Maybe any extra going to a fund to help maintain his bike. Most people are very friendly and nice in those places, but sadly a few let them all down.
Justin, you are amazing. I will contribute to provide this kid with a dream bike. The risk of someone stealing the bike happens everywhere even in the USA. He can patch the frame with ugly stickers and make look used and old! Let me know guys!
You are contradicting yourself. MTB would be more socioeconomically inclusive IF people weren't constantly being told they need to spend at least $5k on a "good" bike in order to have fun. Luis is proving that you can learn to slay trails on any old piece of shit. Just grip it and rip it. We need more riders that share the mentality of Luis
Wow. The trail looks pretty freaky dangerous .... The kid asked you , if you wanted to go that fast or a bit slower. I wasnt expecting it that fast in that narrow and rugged road. this is a lesson that my dad taught me many many years ago. it doesnt matter what you are using, it doesnt matter how much you spend on that fancy tool or part to improve whatever you are using. what matters is your skill with what you are using. all the fancy and expensive upgrades do 5% of the work, and 95% placebo effect. what matters is how far comfortable you are with your passion or actions with whatever it is in life. from mountain biking to pen collecting. the skill comes from you. and this young man demonstrated that point beautifully. all the love and be safe out there everyone!
Luis, por que no usas una bicicleta mas cara?
Para qué? Si quienes las usan vienen detrás de mi.
Muy buena referencia

For those who don’t understand the comment. Which i really liked!
It reads;
Luis, why don’t you ride a more expensive bike? What for? If those who ride them are behind me.
Esta muy buena la frase. Este le extrajiste de Lorena Ramírez corredora Rarámuri. Le preguntan: El porque usa huaraches en vez de tenis?
Ella responde, "Para que si los que usan tenis están allá atrás...
Mexico is probably my favorite country. They are so humble and amazing people. Thanks for the video
Thanks my friend, this please is amazing!
They’ve only done maybe 1/5000th of what America has done to increase quality of life on the planet.. not even actually.. it’s great, but not great great.
Red pilled patriot shut up dude
Sean Nelson uhh, no thanks mr free speech hating dictator person. Name one country that’s done more for the global community than America.. than maybe I will shut up.
Sorry Fiji is now #1
Extremely impresive, that gives us poor guys hope, that you can do a lot with a old used bike.
Try do this in mountains and you broke your cheap bike. Some sort of fake in titles i think.
Tarahumaras are known for winning marathons barefoot, they walk long distances
Duh, stop whining and making excuses.
I am curious about Luis. Is he still shredding trails after 2yrs, or has life taken over? An update would be comforting.

Like the way he appreciates the kids riding skills on route.
That kid was not just fast but skilled as well. You two did great to keep up with him. I wonder if he was surprised you were able to hang with him. Some pretty sketchy areas also. I would have died along the way.
I would have ate it a million times going at that speed in those corners! Great video...HELL YEAH!
Not enough comments regarding the beautiful landscape. What a gorgeous country!
He is the star of this video. I was watching him not these american tourist. His services does not include appearing in youtube videos. So go figure.
I woulda just gave him the tires off my bike and my friends bike..
In order for this kid to even have the bike he has. I'm sure he had to save up for a couple of months and work hard af. I know this because I was born in Mexico (now living in texas) and I know the type of life style that people have there.

Outstanding!!! That kid can ride like nobody's business!!! He needs to enter some of these sponsored Enduro races!!!

The pace he maintains is something, not only the cheap heavy bike but the backpack is full and swinging. There is talent out there but lack of money and opportunity
who ever did build the trail put a ton of hours and hard work into it. the way the rocks combs the edges cmon man that's sick. very tough work. great video Eric
Noo! Come on! These are actually just communicating trails between villages. They work just perfect for that matter but the tarahumaras have had going and coming through these routes since ever.
Whenever I watch these videos I feel like I’m about to fly off the trail down the cliff and die from my couch. Lol
Well, you can actually fell from your couch if you're sleeping and dreaming about flying off the trail to the abbys in your bike
Watching some of the trail sections made me VERY anxious.
I agree

The strength, skill, and stamina needed to do this stuff blows my mind. Great job guys!
That is so cool! Thanks for the information!

I just remembered my sister used to ride a bicycle without brakes when she was young
I've been there
Lol
Hey doesnt need any brakes . he is THATgood right ?
Luis is a bad ass!!
That's priceless!!💯👍
My first throught when he would gap you a little when you started the descents was that he was fearless, and knew every square inch of that trail...which would explain his speed. But then it dawned on me...he probably had nowhere near a competent set of brakes on that bike, much less any tires that would give him any braking power, and he was probably holding on for dear life!!
Gotta admire the speed. He wasn't one of those guides out there for a sight seeing adventure. He wasn't going to have anyone complain about him not going fast enough! :-)
Great video and riding...as always!
he locked up the brakes often
Thanks for sharing the ride with us 🤙
So true. I'll never again be able to use my 2009 bike as an excuse after seeing Luis ride.

Lois looks like an untapped well of potential...I reckon we, as the mountain bike community should all chip in what we can and buy this bloke a proper bike!!

@Glowing Alpine but still, you could donate to the guy
But that would put him on the”bad” side of the socioeconomic ladder. How could you be so cruel!!

I'm just starting to get into mountain biking. That trail ride was excellent! I loved the background music too. Thanks for taking us along.
@@andrewnorris5415 just take the decals off the new bike...
Dude he will appreciate anything. A bike is a bike. If it’s expensive or not, shit happens and he seems to be doing well so far.
