- The Indian state of Manipur that borders Myanmar has a long history of ethnic conflict. The region has grappled with insurgencies and ethnic conflict that resulted in thousands of casualties over decades. The tensions between the two groups - the majority Meitei and the minority Kuki - have been simmering for years over a range of issues, including land rights and crackdown on minority groups. The Kukis, who belong to the same ethnic group as the Chins from Myanmar complain that the government and the Meitei majority have treated them unfairly. The Indian state’s crackdown on illegal immigrants from Myanmar has led to persecution, abandonment and a deep sense of alienation among the Kukis, who have been labelled as illegal immigrants and drug dealers. The Meitei’s on the other hand, say that the illegal immigrants are helping Kukis in procuring arms to attack them.
The current crisis more than month long violence is one of the worst in recent history. With the failure of the state to protect the ethnic groups, there has been an emergence of armed civilian groups from both sides. The latest casualties n ethnic violence that's gripped India's north-eastern state of Manipur are a seven year old boy and his mother.

For those who are curious about 7 year old child and the mother:
The 7 year old boy was a child of Kuki father and a Meitei mother. The incident took place when the boy was injured while he was sheltering in Assam rifles camp near his village.The nearest hospital was in the Manipur's capital Imphal dominated by the Meiteis, they decided to go there with the hope that they would be fine since the boy mother belong to meitei community. So the child ,the mother and a lady neighbour of theirs both Meiteis, also Escorted by SP of police who is also a meitei. But unfortunately on their way they were stopped by a large mobs consisting mainly of Meitei women who called themselves as “The meira paibis”. They attacked the Police vehicle and SP had to flee the scene and with no mercy they charred down the ambulance. A report claimed that they got a rumour that Ambulance was evacuating a kuki militant so they reacted it that way. But according to the 7year old father, he said they exactly knew it wasn't and they intentionally burnt the ambulance because they didn't trust even their kin since they were sheltering together with the kukis in the Camp.

The tribal civilians complied to it without complain, now we see the unfolding of the plan the Biren Singh led meitei government had all along.
