    I was there to bear witness to something absolutely epic. I'm from Detroit and was in town to see her and for Mardi Gras. What speaks volumes is that as we reached the stairwell and were exiting, the crowd suddenly broke out into a classic Anita Baker song. It was the first time I've ever witness something like this and the NOLA put on for my home girl Anita. What a testimony and tribute for the love they have for her. If you were there at that moment, THAT's the answer to your question. No one in the world!!!!!

    I’ve watched another video of the concert in New Orleans and I thought it was phenomenal! I think Anita sounded great! She definitely still has it. Even with the noticeable limp she was still rocking and giving the crowd plenty of energy. I’ll be seeing her in my city in October and I hope our show is at least half as good as the New Orleans show. Either way I’m SO excited to finally see her live and I love her SO much that I will be happy with whatever she brings honestly. Her songs resonate so deeply with me and I’m thankful that she wants to keep her music alive and is still giving her fans an opportunity to give her back all the love she put into those songs for us.
    I’m only in my 40’s but I can tell you with age comes health ailments and to see that she is not letting whatever ailments she may be dealing with hold her back is SO inspiring. Let’s all just lift her up in prayer and be thankful that one of our greats is still here because we have lost so many. ❤

    I believe she has more than one health issue going on. I also believe that there may be personal drama going on behind the scenes too! I hope they get the technical issues worked out! I agree that she pushed through! I hope she can get her health together and the issues behind the scenes resolved.

    Do you actually realize how much energy it takes to truly give from your heart and to sing in such a powerful way? Do you realize how much rehearsal time and preparation goes into every show and how much pressure there is on the artist? She is not a young chicken anymore and still sings absolutely amazing! Anyone would be tired considering all of the above .... it's always easy to comment and to voice your opinion. I think if you tried any of what this lady is doing on a daily basis you would in no way feel comfortable passing on any judgement simply because you would understand and have an incredible amount of respect. I just wanted to put things into perspective here ...Love Always - J

      Excellent points and thanks for your comment. I never ever meant to pass judgment on her, on the contrary I gave reasons why she may have been discombobulated during the performance. I also mentioned the fact that she isn’t as young as she used to be. My commentary was geared towards being concern for her health, since she seemed tired and the limp. Ending with how we should love, support and pray for our artists. None of which was a judgment of her voice, or declaring anything negative about the performance. If that’s how you received it, please accept my apology cuz that’s not how I meant for it to come off.. thanks again for the view and time you took to leave such a well written comment. Now I did judge babyface voice during his performance. Did you watch that one?

    I was lucky enough to meet Anita and Walter years ago through mutual friends in the business. She is indeed a perfectionist, which makes me respect her even more as an artist (especially a woman). But your points are valid. I picked up on these things as well. Still, Anita in any shape, form, or energy is still a gift. I am seeing her here in Chicago in June, and I will report on the show here. I have been a deeply committed fan of Anita's since I was a kid. That's never going to change, whether she's at 75% or 100%. (Usually, she's at 150%.) Great video.

    She's always guiding the sound people. But when I've seen her do it and get it straight, she's glorious. That's part of her experience. And her limping? Huh? How ever she presemts, it's OK as long as her voice is goid (not a 20yo vice) and she presents in a way that recalls nostalgia abd offers a good time. Concerts about vibes. It need not be video or recording perfect. I don't get people who want their artists set in stone.

    • @Wilbgr8
      @Wilbgr8  ปีที่แล้ว

      Understandable and I get the vibe comment but I’m not a user, I like singers to enjoy their art, she seemed like she was tasked in most of the songs. I look forward to the day I see Jill Scott, she literally smiles when she sings. I love that, Anita concerned me with the limp and the lethargic vibes but thanks so so so much for the view and excellent comment. I appreciate your opinion

    I love Anita Baker and has been a fan from day one. I agree she should have had a stool or something to sit on and sing her songs. What a wonder performer she is and going on tour like she’s doing sometimes takes a toll on the body.

    I get on TH-cam and I see your video! I attended her concert this past Wednesday in Memphis Tennessee! This was the worst concert she was over an hour late she kept leaving the stage and doing a lot of talking I need a refund! She was all over the place! But she was beautiful!

    Yes something is definitely off with her I just saw her in concert here in Newark new jersey last night and the show started 2 hours and 17 mins late they canceled Babyface segment just for her and when she finally came out on stage she was dragging her left leg complaining about not hearing the sound a lot of technical difficulties was happening I was very very disappointed and distracted by the leg issue but I'm still loving my Aunty Anita Baker... but damn!😢

    • @Wilbgr8
      @Wilbgr8  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow I just saw this on tmz about the technical issues y’all had and babyface choosing to not come out so she could have her entire set. I was wondering how her set was. Thank you so much for commenting about it. I love her but it is very obvious that she is not in the best of health. Fans would love for her to die on stage but I feel she should rest. This tour is taking her out!! I drive to New Orleans and they had technical issues there as well!! Baby face was good cuz he’s got so many songs but he’s not a vocalist so his voice gave out on the concert I attended. I made a video about it, feel free to check it out. Thanks again for the comment and view, I hope you subscribed cuz I’ll be posting more daily. R&b and gospel

      @@Wilbgr8 same in NC and I just saw her 2 days ago. She was 1 hour late. She then complained about the mic stand, the ambient lighting and the speaker guy. The songs were sung differently from what we know it to be. She talked alot about random stuff so she didnt sing all her hits. It was disappointing but I was still happy to see her.

    Something was off for sure. I'm a vocalist. When something is off the first thing that happens is dry mouth and feeling unsettled. I recognized this in her right away. Having said that, she is a magnificent singer/songwriter. The best in fact. That song at 16 years old. Wow. Those attributes can never be taken away from her. She and I are the same age so I understand the difficulty in being fit enough to do shows like this. She appeared to be limping at times. Perhaps she has had an injury of some kind. Her songs are very, very demanding. I've sung them so I can attest to that. She seemed to be having some issues with the sound as she said at one point the onstage sound was very loud. She needed more of the piano in the monitor. When those things aren't happening it's so tough to be in the zone. The band and background singers were ahMAZING. They are her support. She will always be Anita Baker. No one can take that away, regardless of an "on" night or an "off" night. That's where we as fans, give her the space to just be who she is in that moment. I bet being there was electrifying.
