Last night during the New Jersey stop of Anita Baker’s 15-date “The Songstress” tour, concertgoers became disgruntled and disappointed. Not only did fans report waiting two hours for the “Sweet Love” singer to hit the stage, but ticket holders also did not get to see co-headliner Babyface perform.
Adding to the chaotic night, one fan told VIBE that she witnessed a lady passing out while waiting for the show to start and that a fight also erupted in the audience.
In another video, the host of the show could be seen getting booed after announcing to ticket holders that there were “technical difficulties” - which he claimed caused the delay.
“First of all I want to thank everyone for coming out tonight,” he began. “We did have some technical difficulties tonight. However, Ms. Baker isn’t going anywhere ya’ll she’s coming out tonight. Unfortunately because of these delays Ms. Baker wanted to be sure that she gave ya’ll the best that she could give.”
“So unfortunately Babyface will no longer be performing. I deeply, deeply apologize,” he added as the audience roared with “boos” out of frustration.

I REALLY hope that I can go to her concert this coming November as she will be gracing my state. Last time she was doing a 1 show performance in Durham, NC I had to work & could not get ONE person to switch their schedule to accommodate me so I could go although I had done that for practically every person on that scheduled night shift. I knew that I had better have a darn good excuse for calling out just to drive 90 minutes just to get to her performance. Shy of a car wreck, SERIOUS illness WITH a doctor's note saying I'd sought treatment that day/night or being hospitalized I knew if I called out that I could have been suspended without pay for 3 shifts if not fired. I was PISSED! Besides that at the time I had worked diligently to get someone to come into my home to work as a home care aide to look after my mom because she was living with me for a stint of time as she recovered from surgery & rehab so I knew that I had better make the right decision by my mom as well as protect my employment. That was back in 2013 so it's been a LONG time since Ms.Baker has graced NC with her presence. I keep up with videos posted to YT of her concerts across America. Been a HUGE fan of her music since 1985. I even still got my cassette tapes & CDs of every project she has put out. Just like good fine wine Ms.Baker's voice just gets BETTER with time. Glad to see that she is still in good health & able & willing to tour.

If it was possible for Anita to do so perhaps she could have cut her set in half so Babyface fans could see him perform. But if it was Live Nation's decision, then perhaps she should be upset with them instead of Babyface and his fans.

Well at the end of the day once a fan always a fan and that's me I have all of Ms. Baker's music and I still listen on a regular basis because I'm such a fan so when its all said and done I love you Ms. Anita Baker you will always be my Queen. 👑

I guess it's hard for Anita to see negative comments thrown her way and not respond, but sometimes, it's best for public figures and celebrities to NOT RESPOND AT ALL to trolls and random people on Twitter. It spirals out of control if you keep arguing with them.

The only thing that I feel strongly about as a person of color is the voice of people who tell you not to speak on things. Just let it go. No, speak on it, then let it go. You'll find yourself hoarding the things people project on you. Because you let them go inside of you and not out of you. It's very common in our community when you do speak up on things for someone to say, "Let it go. Or why did you wait to say what you had to say. All of that shit is abuse and controlling.

I saw a post from Toni Scruggs who was a bgv during Anita’s Farrell tour. She stated “That the venue had technical issues which caused the delay in the doors opening and cut into Face’s time. She even called out Face for his statement. She also stated that Anita was not late and that one time they were an hour late due to wardrobe. Don’t know if her clothes were lost or what.

But there are many fake channels using AI generated voice that have that similar sound. It is good that you add in previous clips of you talking with Tony Terry to give authenticity. I appreciate your efforts in everything you do here.
