Thank you for sharing this, my brother! Dr. Taylor Marshall also has a number of videos, on his TH-cam Channel, tackling this very subject: that Christmas was not, and was never, taken from, or gotten from, any pagan holidays. It was always Christian in origin. Merry Christmas!
Isayah 42:8 about Idolatry statues, the cross is a pagan symbol since before egypt where was also used as an ankh, how far u put your head under the sand ??! The cross is a symbol of Tammuz , in Isaiah it says : and I saw a abomination women weeping for Tammuz ... Cross is his simbol also shepherd deity ... any insight on that ??
@@Gabriel-i5k3r - This is going to be a VERY lengthy reply, with Holy Scripture quotations, so please be patient, but do read it all. GOD hates Idolatry, and so do all faithful Christians, who love, serve & worship GOD, as we should. The cross, and variations of the cross, have been used in old pagan symbols of idolatry (worship of false gods, goddesses, spirits, deities, etc). The cross has also been a horrific torture and execution device (Roman Crucifixion). However, Jesus Christ, completely transforms the look & meaning of the symbol, The Cross, into becoming an actual Christian symbol. In other words, the cross, became The Cross Of Jesus Christ, or the Christian Crucifix, after Jesus' passion, crucifixion and death on the cross. The meaning & significance of the cross is changed, by the very virtue of Jesus Christ use of it, and his direct & indirect association with it. And Jesus Himself, repeatedly talks about the importance & significance of the cross, to his disciples, apostles, to the masses, and even to His enemies. "And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me." [Matthew 10:38] Then Jesus said to His disciples: "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me." [Matthew 16:24] And going out, they found a man of Cyrene, named Simon: him they forced to take up His cross. [Matthew 27:32] And calling the multitude together with His disciples, He said to them: "If any man will follow me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me." [Mark 8:34] And He said to all: "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me." [Luke 9:23] "And, whosoever doth not carry his cross and come after Me, cannot be My disciple." [Luke 14:27] And as they led Him away, they laid hold of one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country; and they laid the cross on him to carry after Jesus. [Luke 23:26] And bearing His own cross, He went forth to that place which is called Calvary, but in Hebrew, Golgotha. [John 19:17] The ugly, horrific cross, as tool of death, and an old pagan symbol, then gets transformed into a new symbol of the Suffering & Salvation, of Jesus Christ, suffering and dying for our sins. It's not just a "symbolic metaphor" of Jesus' suffering & our own suffering as Christians following in His footsteps; it's much more than that. The cross was a scandalous object, which Jesus Christ embraced, in obedience to GOD The Father, and out of love to save fallen humanity, from their sins, from the devil and from hell. Look throughout the entire Bible: GOD takes bad things, or bad people, or even bad symbols, and transforms them for good, or into something good, or into something better. Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, etc: none of these people were 100% perfect, or purely good people, but look at what GOD accomplished with them & through them: amazing miracles, and other historical feats & accomplishments. What about bad symbols? Can GOD take those, and re-purpose them, for something good, or something better than they formerly were? Yes, He can, yes He did. One such example of this is the Bronze Serpent in Numbers 21: 4-9. The Israelites in the desert, repeatedly complained against GOD & Moses, and GOD punished them, by sending poisonous snakes to attack them. They eventually repented & asked Moses, to intercede for them to GOD in prayer. He did & GOD told Moses to make a Bronze snake, and place it on a pole. Anyone who looked at the snake would be miraculously healed. Pause: now, why would GOD tell His chosen people, to look up to a snake on a pole, to be healed from the lethal effects of snake venom? Isn't that engaging in idolatry, which GOD Himself condemns and forbids? Didn't ancient pagan peoples, used to worship snake idols? Is that not idolatry? We must be careful in correctly understanding the proper context of Numbers 21: 4-9. In this particular case, GOD wants the people to obey Him. Before they can get healed of the poisonous serpent bites, the sinful Israelites, must rely on their full faith in GOD, to be saved. They must obey his commands this time, and look upon the bronze snake, in order to be healed. The Israelites did so, and they were miraculously healed. This was an act of faith in GOD on their part, and NOT an act of idolatry, or the worship of an ancient pagan symbol/idol. The bronze snake did not heal the sick people; the poisoned people did not heal themselves; GOD healed them. And, just so we are clear: the bronze serpent is NOT the same evil symbol, representing that other serpent (the devil/Satan/Lucifer) in the Garden of Eden. Different account. Different case. Different context. And to conclude, back to the cross. If GOD can take anything, and anyone, and transform them, into someone better, or into something better, for the glory of GOD, why can't He do that with the cross? The answer is that HE DID, through Jesus Christ. After the Passion, Crucifixion, Death, Resurrection & Ascension, of Jesus Christ, and after the Descent of the Holy Spirit on His followers, the disciples & apostles, began to write, in the Bible, positive things about the cross. As you read the various books, after the Gospels, you can even see how the followers of Jesus Christ, start to rename that ugly, scandalous, evil symbol and instrument, "the cross," into "the cross of our Lord," "the cross of Christ," "His cross," "the power of GOD," "word of the cross," "the blood of His cross," and so on. Go ahead: read for yourself- "For the word of the cross, to them indeed that perish, is foolishness; but to them that are saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God." [1 Corinthians 1:18] "But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ; by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world." [Galatians 6:14] "For many walk, of whom I have told you often (and now tell you weeping), that they are enemies of the cross of Christ." [Philippians 3:18] "And through Him, to reconcile all things unto Himself, making peace through the blood of His cross, both as to the things that are on earth, and the things that are in heaven." [Colossians 1:20]
I'm not even Catholic and I've been telling people this for years. Christmas is NOT pagan! Its date is placed based on scriptures that state that the Annunciation happened 6 months after Zacharias had his vision in the temple, which is thought to have happened in September. It's right there in the Bible. Another important point is that Christmas trees are certainly not pagan. I'm tired of hearing people say that the tree has its roots in druidic worship of trees or in Saturnalia or Norse World Tree symbolism (blah blah blah garbage). A closer study shows that they started in medieval times as a prop in a mystery play that depicted the Garden of Eden and the coming of the Savior Jesus Christ. The tree was usually an evergreen tree decorated with apples. Mystery plays were a grassroots tradition that were sanctioned by both Catholics and Protestants and gave rise to many of the Christmas Carols that we sing today. These were especially popular in the 1500s and 1600s in Germany, which prompted German families to begin erecting their own Christmas trees at their homes. It boggles my mind why anyone believe that Medieval Germans would bring back a Millenia-old pagan worship tradition which was long dead and forgotten when there is a clear, well-documented explanation for Christmas trees that is rooted in actual practices and beliefs of the time period. I mean, anyone who says that Christmas Trees are pagan is a history denier. It's an alternate history that keeps getting repeated as fact.
Love this! I'm just tired of the atheist argument that Christmas is just a rebranding of Saturnalia. Its not even on the same day 🤷🏼♂️. Seriously who is celebrating saturnalia anyway? Its a holiday that doesn't exist anymore because Saturn never existed. Christ did. And still lives. Thank you for your video.
What are the odds that YOUR god is the only real one, but the thousands of other gods that humans have worshipped throughout human history are all false? The only difference between you and an atheist is that they believe in one fewer god than you do. Saturn (and every other god humans have conceived) was just as real to the believers in Saturn as your god is to you. It's only your ego that prevents you from admitting that Christianity co-opted the Pagan holiday that celebrated the rebirth of Sol Invictus, the Sun God. By the way, the Sun actually exists and is the REAL source of the energy that sustains almost all life on Earth, NOT your imaginary Sky Daddy. That is reality. And whether you like it or not, some people still celebrate Saturnalia. Do you also refute that Easter was a Pagan celebration co-opted by Christianity? I mean the name of the Goddess of the Dawn is Eastre. It was a celebration of the rebirth of life in the Spring. The bunny and the eggs are symbols of fertility. Sorry to be the one to break it to you but there is nothing original about your religion. There are plenty of religions that pre-date yours that spoke of virgin births and heroes that came to save us.
Saturn was just another false god, just like yours. Plenty of people still celebrate Saturnalia. You just don't know about them because you don't care whether or not what you say is true. What are the odds that all the thousands of gods invented by humans throughout our history never really existed, but (almost miraculously) YOUR god is the one that is real? You think your god is special? It's not. Your god is just as much a fantasy as all those other thousands of gods were or are. God is Santa Claus for adults.
There are a few things you left out in your video 1- The thesis against the theory of the pagan origins of Christmas was also created by Protestants. Lutheran scholar Ferdinand Piper pioneered the theory that December 25th was a mere codarium used for the date of March 25th, believed to be the date of Christ's conception and death 2- Aurelian did not demonstrate aggression towards Christians during his reign; quite the opposite, he was one of the few 3rd century emperors who did not persecute Christians. He himself would later help Christians such as Paul of Samosata in legal matters. Scholars such as Hijmans (2003, 2011) suggest that Natalis Invicti could not have been created before or after Constantine's first reign, and that the games inaugurated by Aurelian were on October 19th, aiming to replace the cult of Mars (since he had an Armilustrium on that day) with quadrennial festivals in honor of the sun or even that this date was created by Julian the Apostate.
1 is correct, in that Dec 25 us March 25 + 9 months, but March 25th was related to beliefs about the Christ's death/conception and is....ALSO not pagan.
I'm not Catholic but as a believer in Christ our Lord, I never agreed with this nonsense that Christmas is pagan! What makes anything pagan is if you have a pagan god at the focus of your worship! We who trust in Jesus do not have a pagan god! If people worshipped trees in antiquity, does that make trees bad? Pagans also used rings on the finger as objects of worship and superstition. Does that make our wedding rings pagan? No of course not! Again it is the focus of what symbolic meaning we give the objects! Praise our God and Savior😁👍🏻
@@WalkingTemple-ws2si Yes it becomes insane. If we were to denounce any modern practice as pagan if the pagans have some similar practice then we would find ourselves unable to do many ceremonious things. Could it be that a primordial light is inside all peoples and we all celebrate certain things in similar ways? Can it be possible that kneeling with our hands together to pray can be good for God and bad for Saturn? Yes because the intent indeed matters yet many focus too much on the physical acts.
Religion for breakfast also has a video on Saturnalia, where he's describing the background of this holiday. The more I got to know about it, the more I stand firm that Christmas is a holiday of its own.
The fact that Emperor Aurelian established Saturnalia in December because he was fearful of the rise of Christianity makes a lot of sense. Romans were notorious for their bread and circuses when things were going badly. Deflect and party.🎉 Thank you for this video. It was definitely an eye opener 👀. I will share this video with family and friends.
Well early Christians had many sects that perhaps should have had state power put against them. Early Christendom was akin to the Russian Bolsheviks in their violence and iconoclasm. They destroyed centers of culture in their zeal. Was Saturnalia eatablished in response to this? Likely not. Winter Festivals existed mutually among religions.
@@n4ughty_knight That would be great but I sadly started this too late into the year although the Christmas season ends February 2nd! Perhaps in January.
When Dec 25th was established as the Liturgical feast of the Nativity, Christians were observing the solar day-based Julian calendar. Since instituting the more astronomically correct Gregorian calendar, so December 25th on the Julian calendar comes out to be what is Jan 7th for the Gregorian calendar. Pay attention to that difference. By solar days, the Dec 25th of the early Christians was actually more than two weeks after Saturnalia, which is based on the astronimically fixed event of Winter Solstice. So after pagans celebrated their feasts and had time to sober up, the Christians had Christmas. There was no swapping of a pagan feast for a Christian one. Christians and pagans had their separate calendars. Pagans celebrated their new year closer to the spring while Christians celebrated the new year 8 days after the Nativity (the old Feast of the Circumcision of Christ that became the Feast of Mary Mother of God in today's Roman Catholic liturgical calendar, but still celebrated by the Eastern Orthodox Christians). Also, part of the reasons the decision to make Dec 25th the Nativity was that a much much older Christian feast day that was observed was the Feast of the Nativity of John the Baptist (believed to have been passed down from the disciples of John the Baptist), on June 24th. Fitting the biblical narrative, six months after the birth of John the Baptist became the birth of Jesus. And 9 months before the birth of Jesus is the Feast of the Annunciation (when Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit) on March 25th.
Alexander Hyslop's "The Two Babylons" is a 19th century tome about "paganism" in various branches of Christianity. It has been discounted because of gross errors in history, chronology, and language. Thanks for your research.
I am a Protestant and grateful for the piety and theology of the Puritans. However, I am quite happy to accept that Christmas is not a copy of Saturnalia. There is also evidence that Jesus actual birthday is on a different day from December 25. The debate continues.
My favorite is the one that says shepherds wouldn't have had their animals out in December because it was too cold; when a simple Google search of the median temperature of the region is HARDLY too cold for sheep to graze.
@@williamf.buckleyjr3227 Thank you for the research. Too many have little faith. Shepherds could be inspired by God to be out grazing as He’s inspired many things. Then, when an angel appears and speaks of the Son being born, who would complain of the cold in the field? Would we all not endure the coldest environment possible to be with Our Lord?
The only reason you have your livestock out in the field is to graze them. Even though temperatures can be pleasant, grass doesn't grow in the winter. It very often freezes at night. The grass is dormant. You're not going to have your flock out there if there is nothing for them to eat. The shepherds stack hay up in the summer to feed the livestock through the winter. When the grass goes away the shepherds bring their livestock in to their pens and feed them hay. The shepherds weren't out in the field on December 25.
@@kitcarson6806 Your argument does not dispute the evidence that he was born on December 25th. You simply argued that it was unlikely that shepherds would be out in the field in December due to cold. It doesn’t change the information about the timing of St John’s birth or the Zechariah’s time in the temple. In any case, as I said in my previous comment, God can inspire them to graze with their sheep as He inspired the wisemen to visit Our Lord and as He inspired many people to do many things ye of little faith.
@@kitcarson6806The high temperature on Christmas Day 2024 in Bethlehem was 70 degrees Fahrenheit with a low of 46. That region of the world does not experience extreme winter cold.
Great video! I am curious how would you respond to the claim that Christmas on December 25th is not accurate today because of the change from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar? Is December 25th the same today as it would have been 2000 years ago?
@@d.j.s.7387 There’s another comment on here that asks this. If it was celebrated on January 7th in the Julian calendar, and this calendar was deemed inaccurate and then celebrated on December 25th in the Gregorian, then this date still sticks. Saturnalia and the other December holidays of Rome would also have been celebrated 12 days later so the point still stands.
As an atheist, any comparison between the two traditions is irrelevant. I would point out something more ridiculous about the life of Jesus, such as why the heck would the Son of God choose to turn water into wine at Cana, as his first miracle? Why would he wait to the age of roughly 30 to begin his ministry; was he too busy making furniture with Joseph (the guy that was his dad, but also wasn’t)? The list goes on and on. When I was in elementary school, I thought everyone knew that the stories in the Bible were not literal. As I got older, the thought that rational people actually do believe the earth is only about 4000 years old and every animal on the planet somehow fit onto Noah’s Ark, was mind blowing. There is nothing wrong with believing in something greater than yourself or a higher power, but believing the Old and New Testament are books of actual truth is alarming to me.
@@joegagliardi3984 Well much of the world has been duped into believing in evolution despite shoddy evidence and studies pointing to the opposite yet here we are.
I had a video show up recently where the woman claimed she had a NDE. She said Jesus told her that Christmas Day celebrations had pagan origins. She claimed she was shown hell and how anyone, children to adult who had any involvement at all with Christmas would be eternally punished in hell since they were then actually worshiping a false God! I watched a bit of it. It was horrible explaining all the tortures dealt out to anyone who participated in any aspect of Christmas!
@@michael7761 False apparitions are a dime a dozen. There’s a reason the Church takes years to approve most apparitions and visions with most being rejected. Do not be too quick to latch onto these sorts of visions.

No, the essence of Christmas is The Divine Incarnation or the Coming of The Powerful Ever-Living God Jesus Christ in human flesh to die for our sins on the Cross and who Rose again Bodily from the dead by The Power of His Divinity to grant whoever believes in Him eternal Life. My only complaint is the AI-generated Nativity at the beginning of the video. Otherwise, great video that I hope will shut people up about this "Christmas is actually pagan" tripe.
@@Chikaras086 If that was an AI image, I did not know when I chose it. I do my best to avoid AI images and videos. Hopefully next time I’m more vigilant but I’m curious how you see the AI in it.
@knightsofelias I've got kind of a sense, something will just look off (like the smoothness and weird lighting) but the big telltale is still the hands. One man in the back has a long index finger and 4 more wrapped around the staff, and Mary's hands are a blur.
Yes, AI. A lot of visual nonsense going on in that picture (e.g., typical malformed hands, fleshy (closed?) eyes, staffs disappearing into thin air, uneven staffs, a bunch of stuff the AI gave up on terminating at the background blur, Wisemen(?) holding blocks of rubble (?), strange hats, etc. Yes all strange consequences of it being AI. I do appreciate the anti-AI stance though. I'm sure AI can be made useful but pointless and ugly slop thrown together by an algorithm has no place in representing something as serious as those things which are Holy, let alone our Christ, our Lord God, or any other aspect of our Religion and Truth; especially when we have such a rich tradition stretching back ages filled with art made by people devoted particularly to creating art intended to aid us in our understanding or to inspire us and bring us to devotion or to deep contemplation on points of theology via symbolic devices, etc. But anyway, nice video. Merry Christmas and God bless you!
@@AnnoyingMoose If the many angels present for Our Lord’s birth gave off their warmth for all to comfortably bask in the glory of the Messiah, then yes.
@@truthinchrist3001 I said if. I do not pretend to know fully all of these things. However, the evidence points to December 25th and miracles such as the one I theorized are quite possible.
Good point. It seems logical that Christ was born during the lambing season because that's probably why the shepherds were out in the fields. Also, I also thought Christ Jesus was born during the Fall sometime in September or October.
I don't think it matters either way if Christmas on December 25 is a "rebrand" of Saturnalia or Sol Invictus or not. The MOST IMPORTANT fact in this whole debate should be that THE BIRTH OF A NEW GOD called JESUS is now celebrated on this date. The mere fact that THE BIRTH OF JESUS is celebrated on this date changes the significance and symbolism of said date. It is no longer a pagan festival but a Christian one. The old significance and symbolism has been discarded in favour of a new and more powerful significance and symbolism that cleanses said date and REDEDICATE it to a feast day in memory of the Son of the MOST POWERFUL GOD ever. There are only 365 days in a year and thousands of religions all with their own festivals and all those festivals are celebrated by the adherents of those religions on some date during the year. Some of those current pagan feast days still coincide with Christian feast days and it doesn't in the least detract of the significance and symbolism of the Christian feast days they coincide with. The IMPORTANT point in this whole discussion is that the birth of JESUS is now celebrated on this date.
Yes, they did. Luther is actually the reason, why we get presents at Christmas. Since the reformer was not a fan of veneration of the Saints. Before that, children got their treats at Dec 6th.
Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
This season, that is esteemed among men, this Christ-mass, that God has no joy in, that Jesus Christ has no part in. We should understand that our God, even our Lord, changes not, no, not even for a season, a season that is made by man, for man, and not to please the Lord of our salvation, for in Him if no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Jas 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Friend, there are many things wrong with what you believe:
1. You think I'm, "pretend to know more than them?" I'm not! 2. You think the Bible was first "compiled" by the "Catholic Church." It wasn't! 3. You think the, "Catholic Church" is what "spread the faith." They were started after this. 4. You think the, "Catholic Church" did not take the old traditions of worship to Pagan gods and try to make the "Christian". They can't hid from what they did! 5 You think the, "Catholic Church" is the Church that Jesus built, that he said, "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." It's not!
Now, what do I know. I know what history says and what the Bible says about all of this. For you and others that only look to what the "Catholic Church" says, for they don't have the power over nations, that they once had, and the facts that you and they deni, can't be hid any more. you want to know know the truth about any of this and more than that you don't want others to know it.
Christmas is an amalgamation of pagan and Christian traditions. Clearly it is. Mistletoe, yule log, etc give away that fact. Saturnalia and Yule were big before Christianity, that is undeniable. The Christians used those and built a Christmas tradition on top of them. Maybe you choose to ignore the older traditions, but the majority don't.
There's also one very much important factor, that drives Protestants up the wall but as well it is difficult to prove just by this source given there's barely if at all, writings of the 1st century Christians. And that's very much is, The Virgin Mary. Because who else to know the exact day of the Lord's birth than his own mother who conceived him?
@@JZStudios2 Right. Much of this content is for those who need sources and more concrete evidence to believe. However, when one simply submits to the Church’s perennial teaching, much of this doesn’t matter.
Christ Mass is a Christian celebration but the day it was arbitrarily/deliberately assigned to, was the pagan high holiday of the Solstice, December 25th in the Julian Calendar. The celebration of the two solstices and the two equinoxes, i.e. the cardinal dates representing the four seasons, were observed and celebrated for tens of thousands of years before the putative birth of Christ. The birth of Christ is your "reason for the season" but you don't own the season. But it's OK - pagans are quite willing to share midwinter with you, so chill.
@@ZymonAaronn I proved Christ’s birth was December 25th in the video. I’m guessing you just came here and wrote this comment without even watching since you didn’t dispute any points I made.
@@knightsofelias The remarkable precision with which the Church of Rome not only determined the conception of Jesus but calculate his delivery date, to the day, is downright supernatural. And that it should happen to fall on precisely the date of the Solstice, is no less miraculous. "It was a Sunday, because Sunday was the first day of the world?" That all presumes that Genesis is literally accurate. You'll have to excuse me if I find this sort of proof, lacking. And I suppose midwinter in Judea was balmy back then and the hills were green with winter forage. As they must have been is the gospels are accurate. Miracles never cease. But, OK, let's just ignore that the solstice has been observed by pagan and agrarian societies for millennia and go with your version?
@@ZymonAaronn The video makes a connection with the conception of John the Baptist which we know to be in September from the tractatus De solstitiia. That’s proof one. The gospel mentions Zachariah serving as high priest when he is visited by the Archangel Gabriel which was during the feast of the tabernacles or late September. The Dead Sea scrolls confirm it again as proof two because they show that Zachariah served as high priest in September which lines up with the tractatus De solstitiia. Mary is visited in the sixth month of St John’s conception, late March, meaning nine months later is Our Lord’s birth, late December.
@@knightsofelias A calendar of mythical dates. Hardly proof. There is no issues for me with Christians celebrating the birth of Jesus on the 25th. @@rphb5870 Many cultures have holidays in December. The point of the video is to prove that Christmas did nit derive from Roman Pagan festivals but from the real birth of Our Lord.
@@knightsofelias but what was christmas before yule? For many centuries the church hated the old pagan traditions of gift giving, drinking and merriment in general. It wanted Christmas to be a sollem affair, a hymn to the lord, not a popular celebration. We in the north never adopted the word "christmas" Tomorrow (the 24th) is yule, the final 24th day of yuletide. many of our ancient traditions were incorporated into Weihnachten, noël and christmas. The tree actually have a very gory history if thou can to hear it, but its reintroduction only happened in the 19th century. St. Lucia day is another christian amalgamation. Sure today we pretend that it was all about an old Roman saint, but the tradition itself is thousands (plural) of years old, it predates christ because it have nothing to do with christ. It was again a celebration of light, as the winter solstice are an event of critical importance. especially in the ancient past. Maybe Christ were born on the 25/12, that would be very convenient, as it coincided with the many pre-existing winter solstice celebrations.
@@rphb5870 The Church is not opposed to taking parts of the cultures of the people it conquered and christianizing them. However, it rejects everything that is sinfully pagan. Decorating a tree is not intrinsically evil so them taking something like this and putting a star on top to represent the North Star is a good thing. The argument and point of the video is that of the date. The church could have said, “oh look at all the joy. Let’s pretend like Our Lord was born at the same time so people can transition more easily to Christmas,” but this is not the case, as the video argues.
@@knightsofelias using the word "conquered" reveals a deep misunderstanding on thy part, the church never conquered the north. The Viking age from the 9th to the 11th century saw rapid changes across northern Europe. The Viking dominated the seas. From the North Sea to the Mediterranean, from the Rivers of Russia and all the way to Vinland (America). They were everywhere, and they seemed unstopperble. The great Viking king Harald Bluetooth choose to convert, after witnessing a miracle but it was on his terms. Thou should look at the great Jelling stone to see how the Vikings viewed Christ. It is a contemporary document from the 10th century 960AD to be precise. Jul, or yule is much more important then saturnalia. Not because the Romans weren't both a greater and a earlier power, but because the norse were so powerful doing these centuries, and for them, more then anyone else, living in warmer climate the winter solstice is a critical event. When is it ever cold in Israel? My point is, that most of the traditions we today associate with christmas, came from the ancient yuletide feast. The gift giving, the drinking the general merriment. The early Christians were as "fun" as the American puritans
I personally stop celebrating Christmas is not one of Gods holy days nor are we commanded to celebrate christmas but im not against anyone celebrating. Christmas.
I, too, stopped observing Christmas many years ago when I learned of its true origins and that we are commanded to not even 'learn' about pagan customs with the intention of copying them to worship our Master. Yet, I understand that many (most) believers do not have this understanding, so I do not judge them for this. Nor am I offended when someone wishes me a hearty "Merry Christmas!" I thank them for their warm greetings and well wishes! I discuss a little further with people I know who ask or who are willing to engage in potentially 'uncomfortable' conversation, or who ask more detailed questions about my Christmas plans, for example. Lol. In passing, though, I just let it go. Christ will reveal the truth to all during the Great White Throne Judgment. EVERYONE will have a fair chance at salvation. THAT is the BEST NEWS EVER! And yes, I keep the commanded holy days as well.

@@knightsofelias Eastern Orthodox do celebrate christmas on December 25th, it's just that Dec 25th in the julian calendar is January 7th in gregorian calendar
You answered the question yourself by mentioning the old Julian Calendar. The Orthodox church has always celebrated Christmas on December 25th it's just that it's December 25th on the Julian calendar which translates to around January 7th on the Gregorian calendar.
What if Mary was only pregnant for 8 months and Jesus was born one month premature? Would that make November 25th the true date? What is the relevance of knowing the exact date? What happens if the date is off?
@@apocryphanow This video simply argues the date is correct. If you want to know why it’s important, it’s because we should honor various parts of our faith with the correct dates. If a saint died on a specific day and was born on a specific day, and we had to choose which day to celebrate this saint, why would we ignore these two important dates? Clearly it makes sense to celebrate them on the days that are important to them the same way we would celebrate the birthday or remember the anniversary of the death of a friend.
believe what you want but if you want to keep your faith do not look into other religions or your own to deeply. If you do you will find yours to be nothing but myths and legends with no basis in facts. December 25 is significant in my religions for one simple fact. after the solstice the days length stay the same for two days, on the third day the days begin to get longer again. Light has triumphed over darkness. sound familiar.
@@jrpanciotti8863 Almost as if God chose this day for the birth of Our Lord to coincide with the nature of the days and season that He Himself established.

Paul went to Rome and told them about Jesus and Immediately they started making statues and putting him into their gods. Paul Quickly corrected them but the damage was already done, they adopted the Son of God as one of their own.
"this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me." 1 Cor 11:24-25 KJV Jesus Christ DID give instruction on what we are to do to remember him. This solemn, GREAT occasion is to remember what HE gave, His life for us. That body and blood was for US. It only could happen by God's standards through the virgin birth. The significance of His birth was to have a body and have blood that would be a sacrifice for ALL who believe John 3:15-19KJV
It never fails to amaze me the amount of man-made reasoning that goes into justifying the celebration of christmas as the birth of Christ. All you youtube historians need to go back alot further and deeper than the Romans. Only into the most ancient of pagan religions will the truth of many modern customs and traditions become painfully obvious. Babylon, Egypt, Sumeria, Greek are where you all should be to see where so many of our modern day traditions began. No, I am not anti-catholic, but I am pro Jesus and pro Biblical!
So if you’re pro Jesus you’ll be pro Bible and its contents which places the birth of Jesus on the date mentioned. It looks like you’re trying to claim the Bible and Jesus is false which of course is not pro Jesus. Non of the things you hint at even take part on the 25th of December.
I have listened to many Biblical scholars say that Jesus was born in September according to the Scriptures. I think his birthday was around September because people back then considered your day of conception as your beginning. Also his conception could be in spring and born in December. I don't know for sure, I'm not the most knowledgeable man on the Bible, however I do know that Jesus is real and my lord and savior.
Saturnalia 🤭 Christmas is a rebrand of European pagan midwinter solstice celebrations. Not any specific one variation either. It carries elements of all of them. Btw, Jesus of Nazareth was born closer to April. The time of celebration is symbolic: the moment where light begins to return to the world. Hint
Christ Jesus was most likely born in September. John the Baptist was born around March/April. And Jesus was 6 months after. Luke 1: 35-36 KJV “35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.”
@brock2443 let's say that there are multiple claims about his birthday and not a single one of them is in December. The date of celebration is symbolic. That said, I appreciate the symbolism. It's beautiful.
Since the Catholics make and worship false images of Christ AND created levels in becoming a saint when Paul called living believers saints, I doubt that you'd have much of a leg to stand on speaking of biblical truth in any matter
@@knightsofeliasThat’s for Jesus Christ to decide. But if you reject the truth and accept lies just to appeal to your flesh He will see it, because He looks at the heart. And the heart is deceitful and wicked, that is why we are not to rely on our understanding but to trust God and His instructions. He didn’t command us to celebrate His birth. So at the very best, you’re defending a tradition of men.
You all interpret the bible in your own manner, there is no consistancy among the protestants. Look at what it has truly brought forth. A never ending splitting off. Rebellion > the same deed that lucifer has chosen against God's plan.
The earliest Roman sun god, Sol Indiges, was celebrated in festivals like the Dies Natalis Solis (Birthday of the Sun) on December 25, long before Christianity.
It more or less was but it's not, since it no longer was, as in it did exist before Christmas however as Christianity overtook the Roman world it also adapted and incorporated different abstracts and charters from it, keep in mind Rome was a multicultural world, think America but even more so weird, some aspects did survive into it but other were added by the passages of time, however even the definitive birth dy of Jesus, or the man behind him to be exact, is very much up for debate,
This has to do with mixing Jesus and …Titus, along with the cult of the venerated Julio Caesar….please don’t forget the roman takeover of Jesus and his message.
I don't care if christmas evolved from saturnalia. Jesus is the rising sun. Pagan or no pagan Jesus supercedes all celebrations. No christmas, then no savior.......
They that justify the season, that is esteemed among men:
Luk 16:14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. Luk 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
When we try to tell people the truth about this season of covetous and idolatry, many will derided us, as if we knew not what we talk about. For this season is very esteemed among all and not just the saved but also the lost, the sinner that knows not the true love of God and cares even less, what the reason for the season is. For they covet after all that they may gain and gather around the same idols that have form days of old been erected to the gods of false ways that are an abomination in the sight of the only true and living God.
The only thing I can't swallow, so to speak, is talking about the Roman Catholic Church existing before the year 1054. We were still the Undivided Church.
@@nicholasyoung9758 you are schismatic? Well this explains your confusion: you are in a heretical church that teaches its followers lies about the one true church and making them think that the church was split into a pentarchy of nonsense. No, the only Church is, was, and always will be Catholic.
There are over 20 other rites besides "Roman" ("Latin" is actually the correct title) and all are in communion with each other and the pope. St. Ignatius, bishop of Antioch, named the true Church "Katholikos" (the original Greek) in about 107 A.D. to distinguish it from heretical groups that were already going off with their own teachings, yet still calling themselves "Christian." Yes the true Church has been united from the beginning, but there have also been heretics, thinking they knew better, since the beginning.
@julieelizabeth4856 maybe true, but not Roman Catholic. Christianity was outlawed until Constantine and he had Constantinople as his capital not Rome. His Edict of Milan tolerating Christianity occurred in 313 AD. The idea that the Roman Cotholic church is the one true church ans sole tru descendant of the early church is purely Roman propaganda and one-up man-ship.. Even the history of the RCs post 1054 is not contiguous with multiple competing popes based at various locations.

*Pagans would only have a point if the December 25th Roman "birthday of the invincible Sun" was instituted before the birth of Christ - instead of AD 274 !* So who is copying who ? Christ was born in 4 B.C. before going down into Egypt. Herod died soon after the 29th December 1 B.C. Judean lunar eclipse. Christ was then “called out of Egypt” in 1 A.D. when He was FOUR years old - on the 29th Jubilee from the first Exodus Jubilee of 1450 B.C. ( "three days travel into the wilderness to sacrifice", then the FOURTH day baptism through the "tongue of the Egyptian sea" that swallowed up Pharaoh and his army ! Three days in the belly of the earth, then the FOURTH day resurrection ! Three days creation, then "light upon the earth" on the FOURTH day of Genesis ! ) The northern winter solstice is either on the 21st or 22nd December, but Christmas Day is three days later ! On the Dead Sea Scroll's Biblical calendar, the Day of Atonement on our 28th September, is the most solemn, most holy day of the Biblical calendar - undoubtedly the day on which Jesus Christ, Yahshua our Messiah, was born ! Despite His birth, Joseph and Mary would have kept the Day of Atonement accordingly, and may even have wondered about the importance of the circumstances. Little did they all suspect then as they looked down on the manger, that that Child of God - the picture of innocence, pure as the driven snow, white as wool - would thirty three years later afflict their souls with His brutal, bloody Passover crucifixion: Born to die for our crimson sins ! Is that why this is such a Solemn Day ? We can eat but we cannot cook/work on the weekly Sabbath. Why is the Day of Atonement a High Day Sabbath but is also without any cooking like the weekly Sabbath ? It is because we have to fast on this day and so afflict our souls (see Leviticus 23:23-32). Why ? The second half of the year almost mirrors the first half of the year. It is interesting to note that the 28th September Day of Atonement on the tenth day of the seventh Biblical month before the Feast of Tabernacles, corresponds to the same day that the Passover lamb is separated on the 30th March and the tenth day of the first Biblical month before the Feast of Unleavened Bread ! That is why we must afflict our souls by fasting on the Day of Atonement: It is now actually in recognition of the atoning sacrifice that Christ determined to give us, when “six days before the Passover” He arrived in Bethany on the 9th Abib (see John 12:1-15). There “where Lazarus was” Christ had supper after sunset starting the 10th Abib. On a lowly donkey the next day, still the 10th Abib, thousands with palm fronds hailed Christ as “Hosanna” of Israel [Greek hoshia-na, of Hebrew nâ‛ yâsha‛, naw yaw-shah′ = Oh save ( savior )]. “Yahshua” finally entered Jerusalem, walked into the Temple and looked all around, before leaving at sunset (“eventide/even” between two successive days). i.e. Hailed by thousands at Jerusalem, the Passover Sacrificial Lamb had gladly separated and presented Himself in the Temple: on the 10th day of Abib ! (see Mark 11:1-11, Exodus 12:3-11) Christ’s body was hurriedly laid in the tomb at eventide/even/sunset - FOUR days later ! It is also interesting to note that the 50 year Jubilee is announced on the Day of Atonement on the tenth day of the seventh month before the Feast of Tabernacles (see Leviticus 25:9), corresponding to the same day that the Passover lamb is separated on the tenth day of the first month before the Feast of Unleavened Bread ! Abstaining from work and food on the Day of Atonement is the least we can do in appreciation of Christ's atoning sacrifice for us ! Every little pang of hunger should remind us of the horrendous ordeal Christ went through for us. In fact if we don't show this appreciation for Christ's sacrifice, His Father says: “For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.” (Leviticus 23:29-30) This connection between the Day of Atonement and the Passover was recognised at the time of Christ. They had a “custom” of releasing a prisoner at the Passover, in parallel with the instructions of the Day of Atonement in Leviticus sixteen: to choose two goats for an atoning sin offering. One was sacrificed and the other was chased into the wilderness: Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all. ( Pilate spoke the truth ! ) But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews? (John 18: 37-39) Only by taking all the relevant Biblical quotes, into one compatible rationalisation, can we get to the truth ! Work Christ's 265 day gestation BACKWARDS on this DSS's calendar from the Day of Atonement birth on the 28th September, and you get to the 6th January Epiphany CONCEPTION; and 12 days further back you get to December 25th ! Working another 12 days FORWARDS from the Day of Atonement birth, you get to the Feast of Tabernacle's LAST GREAT DAY ! Strange that Christmas Day is 12 days BEFORE the Epiphany conception 265 day gestation and birth on the Day of Atonement, and then 12 days AFTER that is the Last Great Day - just like the "four and twenty elders" around the Throne of God in Revelations ! Are these the "Twelve Days of Christmas"🎶 around Christ in the womb ? 25th December was also never a part of the Roman festival of Saturnalia. 2+6+5=13 John the Baptist's gestation was also 265 days and he was born on the 10th Abib - the same day the Lamb of God came down the Mount of Olives on a donkey proclaimed in Greek as "Oh Saviour" ("Hosannah"), with the way being prepared for him with palm fronds - on the birthday of John the Baptist who also prepared the way for Him, and the same day the Passover lamb is selected. i.e the 25th of December started Mary's follicular phase and Christ was conceived on the 13th day Epiphany on the 6th of January - then born on the Day of Atonement on the 28th September ! 12 disciples + Christ = 13 Don't let pagans steal and demonise our Christmas Biblical "day of gladness" without an in depth investigation first. I also made that same mistake on this journey.....
It makes perfect sense that Christmas was celebrated 2 days after the saturnalia was celebrated. They could join their friends in the old celebrations and continue the party for a few days. Also, they would be seen to be faithful to old worship in case the authorities might wonder what they were up to.
Christmas has subsumed the age-old festival of Yule. The 25th of December was the first day when ancient astronomers could confidently say the the days were lengthening after the Winter "shortday".
According to the nonsense of the shephards not herding the sheep during that time? Already proven false, since in the middle East, at Bethlehem, the seasons are different from ours, so is the temperature and there the sheep are still hearded during what we call the winter season.

Xmas Twenty-fifth of December, another year trod, And the world once again is serving it's "god"; But alas, for God's children are joining in too, Forgive them, dear Lord, they know not what they do!
How well I remember and surely realize, I, too, was in bondage 'til You opened my eyes; Thank You, precious Lord, for setting me free From this thing called Xmas, real idolatry!
Oh, I remember how hard it was to break The tradition of men, and finally forsake This heathen holiday, even though I'd heard That it was pagan, forbidden in God's word.
No time to read my Bible, to praise Your name, or pray, Too busy getting ready for that "most important" day; No thought of your second coming, though You bade me watch And wait, For I must keep Your "birthday", though You gave me not the date.
No harm, thought I, to decorate and have a Xmas tree, To gather 'round and gifts exchange with friends and family; If I don't they'll think me narrow, and may even call me "Scrouge", It's not like I would celebrate with revelry and booze.
And thus, deceiving self, went I from year to year, 'Til one day, Lord, Your still, small voice came through quite clear, Come out and be ye separate, touch not the unclean thing, Be not yoked with unbelievers, this message You did bring.
Then I started studying to find out the reason why, Xmas is an abomination to my God on high; And to my great amazement, this is what I found, That I was an idolater on very dangerous ground.
For Xmas, with all it's customs can be traced to ancient Rome; 'Twas there that the Catholic Church adopted as it's own, Astarte, queen of heaven, and Tammuz, her son, Originating with Nimrod and ancient Babylon.
The story of Tammuz, the sun god, and his resurrection, How strange that it should parellel the life of God, the Son! How very sly of Satan to take these gods, these very same, And deceive the people of the world by changing their names.
Thus we see the great deceiver up to his greatest tricks, Changing their names to Mary and Jesus, oh, how very slick! How easy to take feast day with it's revelry and disgrace, And change it's name to Xmas for the Christians to embrace.
So when they say put Christ back in Xmas, I just stand and stare, You never could put Him back, for He was never there! My God is a jealous God, He will never suffer loss, Nor share His glory with another, not even Santa Claus!

XMAS (part 1) A. W. Pink Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: {2} Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. {3} For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. (Jeremiah 10:1-3)
Christmas is coming! Quite so; but what is "Christmas"? Does not the very term itself denote its source - "Christ-mass." Thus it is of Romish origin, brought over from Paganism. But, says some one, Christmas is the time when we commemorate the Savior's birth. It is? And who authorized such commemoration? Certainly God did not. The Redeemer bade His disciples "remember" Him in His death, but there is not a word in Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, which tells us to celebrate His birth. Moreover, who knows when, in what month, He was born? The Bible is silent thereon. Is it without reason that the only "birthday" commemorations mentioned in God's Word are Pharaoh's (Genesis 40:20) and Herod's (Matthew 14:6)? Is this recorded "for our learning"? If so, have we prayerfully taken it to heart? And who is it that celebrates "Christmas"? The whole "civilized world." Millions who make no profession of faith in the blood of the Lamb, who "despise and reject Him," and millions more who while claiming to be His followers yet in works deny Him, join in merrymaking under the pretense of honoring the birth of the Lord Jesus. Putting it on its lowest ground, we would ask, "Is it fitting that His friends should unite with His enemies in a worldly round of fleshly gratification?" Does any truly born-again soul really think that He whom the world cast out is either pleased or glorified by such participation in the world's joys? Verily, "the customs of the people are vain"; and it is written, "Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil" (Exodus 23:2) Some will argue for the "keeping of Christmas" on the ground of "giving the kiddies a good time." But why do this under the cloak of honoring the Savior's birth? Why is it necessary to drag in His holy name in connection with what takes place at that season of carnal jollification? Is this taking the little ones with you out of Egypt (Exodus 10:9, 10) a type of the world, or is it not plainly a mingling with the present day Egyptians in their "pleasures of sin for a season"? (Hebrews 11:25) Scripture says, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6) Scripture does command God's people to bring up their children "in the nurture and admonition of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4), but where does it stipulate that it is our duty to give the little ones a "good time"? Do we ever give the children "a good time" when we engage in anything upon which we cannot fittingly ask the Lord's blessing? There are those who do abstain from some of the grosser carnalities of the "festive season," yet are they nevertheless in cruel bondage to the prevailing custom of "Christmas" namely that of exchanging "gifts." We say "exchanging" for that is what it really amounts to in many cases. A list is kept, either on paper or in memory, of those from whom gifts were received last year, and that for the purpose of returning the compliment this year. Nor is this all: great care has to be taken that the "gift" made to the friend is worth as much in dollars and cents as the one they expect to receive from him or her. Thus, with many who can ill afford it, a considerable sum has to be set aside each year with which to purchase things simply to send them out in return for others which are likely to be received. Thus a burden has been bound on them which not a few find hard to bear. But what are we to do? If we fail to send out "gifts' our friends will think hard of us, probably deem us stingy and miserly. The honest course is to go to the trouble of notifying them - by letter if at a distance - that from now on you do not propose to send out any more "Christmas gifts" as such. Give your reasons. State plainly that you have been brought to see that "Christmas merry-making" is entirely a thing of the world, devoid of any Scriptural warrant; that. it is a Romish institution, and now that you see this, you dare no longer have any fellowship with it (Ephesians 5:11); that you are the Lord's "free man" (1 Corinthians 7:22), and therefore you refuse to be in bondage to a costly custom imposed by the world.
What about sending out "Christmas cards" with a text cf Scripture on them? That also is an abomination in the sight of God. Why? Because His Word expressly forbids all unholy mixtures; Deuteronomy. 22:10, 11 typified this. What do we mean by an "unholy mixture"? This: the linking together of the pure Word of God with the Romish "Christ-mass." By all means send cards (preferably at some other time of the year) to your ungodly friends, and Christians too, with a verse of Scripture, but not with "Christmas" on it. What would you think of a printed program of a vaudeville having Isaiah 53:5 at the foot of it? Why, that it was altogether out of place, highly incongruous. But in the sight of God the circus and the theater are far less obnoxious than the "Christmas celebration" of Romish and Protestant "churches." Why? Because the latter are done under the cover of the holy name of Christ; the former are not. "But the path of the just is as the shining Light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day." (Proverbs 4:18) Where there is a heart that really desires to please the Lord, He graciously grants increasing knowledge of His will. If He is pleased to use these lines in opening the eyes of some of His dear people to recognize what is a growing evil, and to show them that they have been dishonoring Christ by linking the name of the Man of Sorrows (and such He was, when on earth) with a "Merry Christmas," then join with the writer in a repentant confessing of this sin to God, seeking His grace for complete deliverance from it, and praise Him for the light which He has granted you concerning it. Beloved fellow Christian, "The coming of the Lord draweth nigh." (James 5:8) Do we really believe this? Believe it not because the Papacy is regaining its lost temporal power, but because God says so - "for we walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7) If so, what effects does such believing have on our walk? This may be your last Christmas one earth. During it the Lord may descend from heaven with a shout to gather His own to Himself. Would you like to be summoned from a "Christmas party" to meet Him in the air? The call for the moment is, "Go ye out to meet Him" (Matthew 25:6) out from a Godless Christendom, out from the Christ deserted "churches," out from the horrible burlesque of "religion" which now masquerades under His name. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." (2 Corinthians 5:10) How solemn and searching! The Lord Jesus declared that "every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment." (Matthew 12:36) If every "idle word" is going to be taken note of, then most assuredly will be every wasted energy, every wasted dollar, every wasted hour! Should we still be on earth when the closing days of this year arrive, let writer and reader earnestly seek grace to live and act with the judgment seat of Christ before us. His "well done" will be ample compensation far the sneers and taunts which we may now receive from Christless souls. Does any Christian reader imagine for a moment that when he or she shall stand before their holy Lord, that they will regret having lived "too strictly" on earth? Is there the slightest danger of His reproving any of His own because they were "too extreme" in "abstaining from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul" (1 Peter 2:11)? We may gain the good will and good word of worldly religionists today by our compromisings on "little (?) points," but shall we receive His smile of approval on that Day? Oh to be more concerned about what He thinks, and less concerned about what perishing mortals think. "Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil" (Exodus 23:2) Ah, it is an easy thing to float with the tide of popular opinion; but it takes much grace, diligently sought from God, to swim against it. Yet that is what the heir of heaven is called on to do: to "Be not conformed to this world" (Romans 12:2), to deny self, take up the cross, and follow a rejected Christ. How sorely does both writer and reader need to heed that word of the Savior, "Be hold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown." (Revelation 3:11) Oh that each of us may be able to truthfully say, "I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep Thy Word." (Psalms 119:101) Our final word is to the pastors. To you the Word of the Lord is, "Be thou an example of believers in word, in deportment, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity." (1 Timothy 4:12) Is it not true that the most corrupt "churches" you know of, where almost every fundamental of the faith is denied, will have their "Christmas celebrations?" Will you imitate them? Are you consistent to protest against unscriptural methods of "raising money," and then to sanction unscriptural "Christmas services"? Seek grace to firmly but lovingly set God's Truth on this subject before your people, and announce that you can have no part in following Pagan, Romish, and Worldly customs.
Jer 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
Thus saith the Lord, learn not the way of the Heathen,.... Of the nations round about them, particularly the Chaldeans; meaning their religious ways, their ways of worship, their superstition and idolatry, which they were very prone unto, and many of which they had learned already; and were in danger of learning more, as they were about to be dispersed in divers countries, and especially in Chaldea, which was a very superstitious and idolatrous nation: and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; by which are meant, not any extraordinary signs, such as are predicted in Jol_2:30, and by our Lord, as signs of the last destruction of Jerusalem, and of his coming, and of the end of the world, Mat_24:3, but ordinary signs, which are no other than the sun, and moon, and stars, which are set up for signs and seasons, and days and years, Gen_1:14, and as long as they are observed as signs of places and of times, it is well enough; but if more is attributed unto them, as portending things future, and as having an influence on the birth and death, dispositions and actions of men, when in such a conjunction, situation, and position, it is wrong; which is what is called judicial astrology, and to which the Chaldeans were much addicted, and is here condemned; nor should men possess themselves with fears with what shall befall them on such accounts, since all things are under the determination, direction, and influence of the God of heaven, and not the signs of them; especially they should not be so observed as to be worshipped, and to be so awed by them as to fear that evil things will befall, if they are not; and to this sense is the Syriac version, "the signs of the heavens do not worship, or fear". Jarchi interprets them of the eclipses of the luminaries, which may be thought to forbode some dreadful things (l): for the Heathen are dismayed at them; which is a reason why the people of God should not, because it is a Heathenish fear; or, "though the Heathen" (m), &c.; though they are frightened at such and such conjunctions and positions of the stars, and fear that such and such dreadful things will follow; and never regard the supreme Being and first cause of all things; yet such who have the knowledge of the true God, and a revelation of his will, ought not to be terrified hereby; see Isa_47:13.
For you and others that only look to what the "Catholic Church" says, for they don't have the power over nations, that they once had, and the facts that you and they deni, can't be hid any more. you want to know know the truth about any of this and more than that you don't want others to know it.
the December 25th was already remembered between christians, even before Constantine being converted.
God Bless you brother

It's amazing how some people despite showing evidence still believe that Christmas came from Saturnalia.
" Catholic bad" sells, all heretics and anti Christs use it 😂😂😂
EVIL denies THE TRUTH!
@riasatmobashar9205 yes the truth that Christmas never came from Saturnalia or any other so called Pagan holidays.
"And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me." [Matthew 10:38]
Then Jesus said to His disciples: "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me." [Matthew 16:24]
And going out, they found a man of Cyrene, named Simon: him they forced to take up His cross. [Matthew 27:32]
And calling the multitude together with His disciples, He said to them: "If any man will follow me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me." [Mark 8:34]
And He said to all: "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me." [Luke 9:23]
"And, whosoever doth not carry his cross and come after Me, cannot be My disciple." [Luke 14:27]
And as they led Him away, they laid hold of one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country; and they laid the cross on him to carry after Jesus. [Luke 23:26]
And bearing His own cross, He went forth to that place which is called Calvary, but in Hebrew, Golgotha. [John 19:17]
The ugly, horrific cross, as tool of death, and an old pagan symbol, then gets transformed into a new symbol of the Suffering & Salvation, of Jesus Christ, suffering and dying for our sins.
Go ahead: read for yourself-
"For the word of the cross, to them indeed that perish, is foolishness; but to them that are saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God." [1 Corinthians 1:18]
"But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ; by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world." [Galatians 6:14]
"For many walk, of whom I have told you often (and now tell you weeping), that they are enemies of the cross of Christ." [Philippians 3:18]
"And through Him, to reconcile all things unto Himself, making peace through the blood of His cross, both as to the things that are on earth, and the things that are in heaven." [Colossians 1:20]

Not just atheists….
And I'm sick and tired of effing Christians taking over the good old Festival of Yule.
We aren't sure Christ existed either.
There are a few things you left out in your video
1- The thesis against the theory of the pagan origins of Christmas was also created by Protestants. Lutheran scholar Ferdinand Piper pioneered the theory that December 25th was a mere codarium used for the date of March 25th, believed to be the date of Christ's conception and death
2- Aurelian did not demonstrate aggression towards Christians during his reign; quite the opposite, he was one of the few 3rd century emperors who did not persecute Christians.
@@R0dka Thank you for the extra info.
I honestly thought it had something to do with satunalia for the longest time. Thanks for setting me strait on that
Don t get fooled it is birth day of Nimrod that built the Babel tower rebeling against the creator.
Religion for breakfast also has a video on Saturnalia, where he's describing the background of this holiday.
The more I got to know about it, the more I stand firm that Christmas is a holiday of its own.
Thank you so much for this video!! God bless you ❤️🙏
The fact that Emperor Aurelian established Saturnalia in December because he was fearful of the rise of Christianity makes a lot of sense. Romans were notorious for their bread and circuses when things were going badly. Deflect and party.🎉 Thank you for this video. It was definitely an eye opener 👀. I will share this video with family and friends.
@@catherinechiara3914 I appreciate that, and thank you for the clear insights.
Could you do a series talking just about Christmas? You know your stuff and have a great voice!
@@n4ughty_knight That would be great but I sadly started this too late into the year although the Christmas season ends February 2nd! Perhaps in January.
@@knightsofelias Ok, thank you
When Dec 25th was established as the Liturgical feast of the Nativity, Christians were observing the solar day-based Julian calendar.
@@thumbstruck Thanks for the information!

Saturnalia and the other December holidays of Rome would also have been celebrated 12 days later so the point still stands.
dec 25th christmas vs jan 7th christmas?
Excellent question, and it's technical. I believe it has something to do with Pope Gregory and political changes to the calendar.

Didn’t Protestant reformers like Luther celebrate Christmas?
Well protesting is their profession. Don't like Luther anyway for how he weakened Christianity in the west
Yes, they did. Luther is actually the reason, why we get presents at Christmas. Since the reformer was not a fan of veneration of the Saints. Before that, children got their treats at Dec 6th.
Wrong! It and Easter sre pagan along with other holidays
Your birth is pagan after all birthing was known by pagans.
It was Celtic, wasn't it? Joel?

The Lord, our God, does not change for a season:

Many Protestants still revere Mary as a person, but they don’t see her as a “goddess” or “saint”.
The problem is Christians getting their knickers in a knot, claiming that it's the only "reason for the season" and melting down if someone says Happy Holidays instead of bending the knee to their personal choice of superstition.

The great winter solstice celebration, that takes place on the 24th of december

Yet, I understand that many (most) believers do not have this understanding, so I do not judge them for this. Nor am I offended when someone wishes me a hearty "Merry Christmas!" Saturnalia 🤭
Christmas is a rebrand of European pagan midwinter solstice celebrations.
Luke 1: 35-36 KJV
“35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.”

*Pagans would only have a point if the December 25th Roman "birthday of the invincible Sun" was instituted before the birth of Christ - instead of AD 274 !*
So who is copying who ?
Three days creation, then "light upon the earth" on the FOURTH day of Genesis ! )
The northern winter solstice is either on the 21st or 22nd December, but Christmas Day is three days later !
Little did they all suspect then as they looked down on the manger, that that Child of God - the picture of innocence, pure as the driven snow, white as wool - would thirty three years later afflict their souls with His brutal, bloody Passover crucifixion:
Born to die for our crimson sins !
That is why we must afflict our souls by fasting on the Day of Atonement:
It is now actually in recognition of the atoning sacrifice that Christ determined to give us, when “six days before the Passover” He arrived in Bethany on the 9th Abib (see John 12:1-15).
“Yahshua” finally entered Jerusalem, walked into the Temple and looked all around, before leaving at sunset (“eventide/even” between two successive days).
i.e. Hailed by thousands at Jerusalem, the Passover Sacrificial Lamb had gladly separated and presented Himself in the Temple:
on the 10th day of Abib ! (see Mark 11:1-11, Exodus 12:3-11)
Christ’s body was hurriedly laid in the tomb at eventide/even/sunset - FOUR days later !
In fact if we don't show this appreciation for Christ's sacrifice, His Father says:
“For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.” (Leviticus 23:29-30)
This connection between the Day of Atonement and the Passover was recognised at the time of Christ. They had a “custom” of releasing a prisoner at the Passover, in parallel with the instructions of the Day of Atonement in Leviticus sixteen: to choose two goats for an atoning sin offering.
One was sacrificed and the other was chased into the wilderness:
Pilate saith unto him,
What is truth?
And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them,
I find in him no fault at all.
( Pilate spoke the truth ! )
But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover:
will ye therefore that I release unto you
the King of the Jews?
(John 18: 37-39)
Only by taking all the relevant Biblical quotes, into one compatible rationalisation, can we get to the truth !
2+6+5=13
John the Baptist's gestation was also 265 days and he was born on the 10th Abib - the same day the Lamb of God came down the Mount of Olives on a donkey proclaimed in Greek as "Oh Saviour" ("Hosannah"), with the way being prepared for him with palm fronds - on the birthday of John the Baptist who also prepared the way for Him, and the same day the Passover lamb is selected.
i.e the 25th of December started Mary's follicular phase and Christ was conceived on the 13th day Epiphany on the 6th of January - then born on the Day of Atonement on the 28th September !
12 disciples + Christ = 13

If I don't they'll think me narrow, and may even call me "Scrouge",
It's not like I would celebrate with revelry and booze.
And thus, deceiving self, went I from year to year,
'Til one day, Lord, Your still, small voice came through quite clear,
Come out and be ye separate, touch not the unclean thing,
Be not yoked with unbelievers, this message You did bring.
Then I started studying to find out the reason why,
Xmas is an abomination to my God on high;
And to my great amazement, this is what I found,
That I was an idolater on very dangerous ground.
For Xmas, with all it's customs can be traced to ancient Rome;
'Twas there that the Catholic Church adopted as it's own,
Astarte, queen of heaven, and Tammuz, her son,
Originating with Nimrod and ancient Babylon.
The story of Tammuz, the sun god, and his resurrection,
How strange that it should parellel the life of God, the Son!
How very sly of Satan to take these gods, these very same,
And deceive the people of the world by changing their names.
Thus we see the great deceiver up to his greatest tricks,
Changing their names to Mary and Jesus, oh, how very slick!
How easy to take feast day with it's revelry and disgrace,
And change it's name to Xmas for the Christians to embrace.
So when they say put Christ back in Xmas, I just stand and stare,
You never could put Him back, for He was never there!
My God is a jealous God, He will never suffer loss,
Nor share His glory with another, not even Santa Claus!

The Tradition of Christ's mass is a man made day.
Col 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Col 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
We can not make the unclean clean, and any thing that man uses as an idol is an idol still, no matter what we do with it. The Bible says, they worshiped under every green tree, they put gifts under them, just as people do to day. God's people were to burn all of it and not learn the ways of the heathen, but hey did not obey God, they did evil in his sight, and we do the same, for God does not change.

XMAS (part 1)
A. W. Pink
Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: {2} Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
Verily, "the customs of the people are vain"; and it is written, "Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil" (Exodus 23:2)
Some will argue for the "keeping of Christmas" on the ground of "giving the kiddies a good time." But why do this under the cloak of honoring the Savior's birth?
How sorely does both writer and reader need to heed that word of the Savior, "Be hold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown." (Revelation 3:11) Oh that each of us may be able to truthfully say, "I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep Thy Word." (Psalms 119:101)
Our final word is to the pastors. Seek grace to firmly but lovingly set God's Truth on this subject before your people, and announce that you can have no part in following Pagan, Romish, and Worldly
customs.

The season, is the way of the heathen:
Jer 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
Thus saith the Lord, learn not the way of the Heathen,.... Of the nations round about them, particularly the Chaldeans; meaning their religious ways, their ways of worship, their superstition and idolatry, which they were very prone unto, and many of which they had learned already; and were in danger of learning more, as they were about to be dispersed in divers countries, and especially in Chaldea, which was a very superstitious and idolatrous nation:
and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; by which are meant, not any extraordinary signs, such as are predicted in Jol_2:30, and by our Lord, as signs of the last destruction of Jerusalem, and of his coming, and of the end of the world, Mat_24:3, but ordinary signs, which are no other than the sun, and moon, and stars, which are set up for signs and seasons, and days and years, Gen_1:14, and as long as they are observed as signs of places and of times, it is well enough; but if more is attributed unto them, as portending things future, and as having an influence on the birth and death, dispositions and actions of men, when in such a conjunction, situation, and position, it is wrong; which is what is called judicial astrology, and to which the Chaldeans were much addicted, and is here condemned; nor should men possess themselves with fears with what shall befall them on such accounts, since all things are under the determination, direction, and influence of the God of heaven, and not the signs of them; especially they should not be so observed as to be worshipped, and to be so awed by them as to fear that evil things will befall, if they are not; and to this sense is the Syriac version, "the signs of the heavens do not worship, or fear". Jarchi interprets them of the eclipses of the luminaries, which may be thought to forbode some dreadful things (l):
for the Heathen are dismayed at them; which is a reason why the people of God should not, because it is a Heathenish fear; or, "though the Heathen" (m), &c.; though they are frightened at such and such conjunctions and positions of the stars, and fear that such and such dreadful things will follow; and never regard the supreme Being and first cause of all things; yet such who have the knowledge of the true God, and a revelation of his will, ought not to be terrified hereby; see Isa_47:13. This text is brought to prove that the Israelites are not under any planet (n); since the Heathens are dismayed at them, but not they. John Gill.
