- Here is something I made weeks ago that I didn't like at first because of the melody but after all I think it's good enough to post it here.
I wanted to make it sound sad but with a bit of happiness inside.

wow! This piece sounds sad at first glance but theres a tinge of 'hopefulness' i don't know if thats accurate. How long have you been composing for?
Thank you very much! The hopefulness part is something I wanted to make so I'm happy to hear that it works.
I think I've been composing for 3 years. The first thing I composed on my computer was in fall 2021.

What plugin do you use for the strings? Is it just MUSESOUNDS strings??
Yes it's just Musesounds strings and piano
Very beautiful. It has some drama going for it and I can hear the "bit of happiness" you wanted in the piece. There are some minor things I'd tweak though.
The piano cannot decrescendo off a single pitch (i.e. mm. 19 0:45).
For notation I suggest having the fermata (mm. 47 1:48) in all parts, not just the piano, and potentially putting an octava on the final measure.
I'm not sure your notation software is playing the glissandi in the strings. That, or I'm just deaf.

For the piano decrescendo, you're absolutely right. Sometimes I write it like this to avoid sound glitches but in theory, I shouldn't write it like this.
And for the fermata, you're also right but I always write it like this because Musescore automatically play it with the others instruments.
And finally, Musescore does play the glissando but very softly so we don't really hear them😅.
@@Marshoyen Personally when I want to make the midi realization do something that doesn't make sense for performers to read, I just make the elements invisible. Mostly for phrasing dynamics or rit./accel. sections in Musescore 3.

@@Marshoyen Hey -- I've been working on my composition lately and decided to change a few of my ideas. I'd like to still use your parts of your melody, which I've arranged a little bit by adding/subtracting some things as well as changing some of the chords/harmonies and dynamics. I plan to do a 3-movement composition and have this be a part of it. I wanted to still check and see if that is fine with you knowing I am "arranging" a little bit of the original piece.
