@mariopotuznik8002 I understand how the engine gives the RD 350 its soul. But as I said in the video, although the use of the original engine was the initial objective, it was not possible due to budget limits. But legally, the registration document confirms that this bike is indeed a Yamaha RD 350. :) Thank you my friend for sharing your opinion. :) Cheers
@@carlosandleon 😂legally maybe, but I'm pretty sure the suspension changes on this f-up the ratios and angles and at least where i live thats a no go with registration, so it wouldn't be an RD350 anymore. Imagine a Ducati with a two stroke diesel engine, Or a Harley with a cagiva 125 two stroke. Both would be a abomination and probably unbearable to ride. A good balanced composition between chassis and engine is what makes a bike, not the chassis or the engine. In this case, it's a concoction of the bad components from both bikes, hence the frame reinforcement, new suspension, brakes, and last but not least a turbo. Estou arrepiado!!!

This is a very beautiful build. The lines are simply amazing. Thanks for sharing this piece of art. And, as always, thank you for Racer TV, the Café Racers only choice! Hope all is well with you my friend. Even as far inland as I live, we are in the midst of the heavy rains from the latest hurricane to hit the Gulf. But, so far, all is well. Take care and ride safe. Thank you my Dear friend for sharing your opinion. I'm glad you liked. Sorry to hear about the heavy rains. But I glad thinks are still ok. 2 Weeks ago, there were many forest fires here in Portugal.
Wow! Super cool RD. I thought it was going to be a turbo 2 stroke but couldn't understand how one could do that with the exhaust requiring tuned expansion chambers. Then I saw the straight pipes and understood it was a 4 stroke conversion. I had a 73 RD350 with aftermarket exhaust. Really a fun bike but very peaky. It had no power until about 5,000 RPM then it became a monster and all of a sudden too.
Thank you my friend for sharing your perspective. When I started making this video, I also did some research on the internet about the possibility of installing a turbo on a 2-stroke engine. Here is what i found: Interestingly, in 2020 the Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo became “the world's first factory-built 2-stroke turbocharged engine. :) Cheers.
Okey, so it's an old frame that has to be braced to withstand a boring engine. New forks, new swingarm and new brakes because all of those were horrendous on the old bike. The ENGINE is whats makes the RD350 so I really don't understand why someone would waste so much time and money on this. It would have been better to take a crashed yamaha r3 and customize it to look like an RD350. Only upside like mentioned in the video is build experience😅

RD350LC Turbo!! Hmmm! I even checked if you can Turbocharge a 2 stroke ... and you CAN!! This should be good! Hmm not too sure about the exhausts but lets give it a look ... OH! It's not an RD350LC Turbo ... DAMN!! It's a R3!! *Sigh!* I learnt to ride and tune my first bikes back in the 80s and they were all 2 strokes, ending up with my first Cafe Racer made from a highly modified 271cc Suzuki X7. It was a true Bitsa ... Bits of this bike, bits off something else. All the major players from Japan and England were included! I took 4 seconds off the standard 1/4 mile time and had a top speed of 136.96 mph! I tell you this so you realise my first love is/was a 2stroke. This is a nice bike, well made and very cleverly put together. The seat unit with integral lights is nicely done. I love the headlights (if not so much the fairing shape as i feel its too pointy! RDs were notably more rounded.) I agree the classic Yamaha red stripes need to be re-angled and Yes possibly a gloss paint not a matt finish. The additional bracing in the frame is very nicely done and follows the lines in such a way not to be blatantly obvious, and there are many other positive things I could say about it ... BUT ... It's NOT a 2 stroke!! So I'm sorry ... but for me it's NOT an RD350 (Turbo or not) With Love & Respect From Down Under ... And Yes, you will see me on the next Video.
No problem. I completely understand your perspective. I understand how the engine gives the RD 350 its soul. @@RACER_TV I understand the point of the cost of using a RD350 engine is prohibitive but calling it so (regardless of the log book) is wrong .... May be a Rd3Turbo might have been a better choice? Just my thoughts!!
Forte abraço Racer TV e Renato Frateschi.

As you may know, nowadays there are super powerful motorcycles and cars, and even so, they cannot provide the same pleasure as some of the older machines. I think we both agree on this point. Yes, the initial idea of installing a turbo was precisely to get extra thrust like the original RD with the Ypvs system. I don't know what the current power is, but as I showed in the video, there was a reduction in the total weight of the bike. Thank you my friend for sharing your perspective. :) Cheers

Do que a Selva de Pedra. São Paulo. 😅😅 Valeu.
Obrigado.

Why do you keep switching back and forth for RZ to RD. Wasn't it the builders intentions to build use a 4 stroke engine from the beginning? Is there a RD Turbo decal on the bike? Im just trying to understand where the RZ 350 comparison is coming from . Maybe i missed something. Im not trying to be a smart ass, im only trying to understand.
@clasicdemott5986 No problem. I assume you're referring to the clip that shows the transition between the original bike and the transformed bike. I should clarify that the Yamaha RD 350, was designated in the United States, as the "RZ 350". Which means the RZ 350, or the RD 350, are the same bike, but with different names. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any quality photos with a side view of the Yamaha RD350, and so I had to use the photo of the RZ 350 insted, which was the only one I found. :) Cheers.
The Engine is the heart of the bike. RDs are two stroke not four. Dont call it an RD if it's not RT or MD but not RD. 350 parallel twin with a turbo? Why? Why not an MT07 motor instead? Yeah, the build looks good, its very impressive, no doubt. But calling it an RD? You're going to wind up a few people.

But the MT07's 4-cylinder engine is completely out of the question. This would require making a whole new frame. But thank you for sharing your opinion. :) Cheers
@StoffelDilligas Sorry, my mistake. For some reason, the Honda CB 650 engine came to mind. (My next video is about a CB 650.) Lol. But I think the MT07 engine would be too heavy for the fragile RD 350 frame. Furthermore, it has twice the displacement, so it is no longer a 350cc. Cheers.

I understand why the engine was chosen, but still it's a bit of blasfemy to step offside to a 4-stroke. Could have used an engine of a 2-stroke Enduro or something.... Still, very well thought out and build, looks fun to ride as well and will turn heads... To bad it's not from the screaming of the pipes...

Shouldn't be using the RD350 name if it isn't a 2stroke. Maybe the frame is the same, but neither the forks nor the swingarm is from the original bike. Now you tell me he used a new R3 engine? On a cradle frame that flex like a noodle? So much effort for such a bad outcome. Pretty bike though.
Well, legally, the registration document confirms that this bike is indeed a Yamaha RD 350. Even if the engine is from a R3. As I explained in the video, the frame was heavily reinforced for the R3's heavier engine, and to improve the torsion of the stock frame structure. :) Thank you my friend for sharing your opinion. :) Cheers
For those who say that the engine is the heart of the bike and cannot be changed, if one of your family members has a heart transfusion, will you change its name?
Lol. Good point. But I understand this type of reaction, when it comes to iconic motorcycles or cars. In this case, the acronym 'RD', is interpreted as something very powerful, dangerous, and nervous. :) But thank you my friend for sharing your perspective. :) Cheers
That's such a bad analogy. A brain transplant would be more accurate.

A motorcycle with the name RD350 with a 4-stroke engine is almost heresy
Not almost!!!
I understand how the engine gives the RD 350 its soul. But as I said in the video, although the use of the original engine was the initial objective, it was not possible due to budget limits. But legally, the registration document confirms that this bike is indeed a Yamaha RD 350. :) Thank you my friend for sharing your opinion. :) Cheers

Estou arrepiado!!!

Kkkkk.
Here is what i found:
Interestingly, in 2020 the Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo became “the world's first factory-built 2-stroke turbocharged engine. :) Cheers.

Thank you my friend for sharing your perspective. :) Cheers
We all understand how the engine gives the RD 350 its soul. But as I said in the video, although the use of the original engine was the initial objective, it was not possible due to budget limits.

I like using the old frame I think it's a dope build
RD350LC Turbo!! Hmmm! I even checked if you can Turbocharge a 2 stroke ... and you CAN!! This should be good!
Hmm not too sure about the exhausts but lets give it a look ...
OH! It's not an RD350LC Turbo ... DAMN!! It's a R3!! *Sigh!*
I learnt to ride and tune my first bikes back in the 80s and they were all 2 strokes, ending up with my first Cafe Racer made from a highly modified 271cc Suzuki X7.
So I'm sorry ... but for me it's NOT an RD350 (Turbo or not)
With Love & Respect From Down Under ... And Yes, you will see me on the next Video.
No problem. I completely understand your perspective.

@@RACER_TV I understand the point of the cost of using a RD350 engine is prohibitive but calling it so (regardless of the log book) is wrong .... May be a Rd3Turbo might have been a better choice?
Just my thoughts!!

Not a 2 stroke?
NOT AN RD. Period.
Forte abraço Racer TV e Renato Frateschi.

"Is it as fun to ride as the original RD350...probably not". 50 years later to make a less enjoyable bike...you can keep your 4 strokes.
I understand how the engine gives the RD 350 its soul. But as I said in the video, although the use of the original engine was the initial objective, it was not possible due to budget limits.
As you may know, nowadays there are super powerful motorcycles and cars, and even so, they cannot provide the same pleasure as some of the older machines.
I think we both agree on this point.
But you have to recognize that this builder did everything he could, to try to get close to the soul of the RD 350, even if this is impossible with a 4-stroke engine.

Ok everyone loves 2t, but I'll be curious to see a dyno chart! Maybe de turbo can "mimic" the 2 stroke kick at high rpm
Yes, the initial idea of installing a turbo was precisely to get extra thrust like the original RD with the Ypvs system. I don't know what the current power is, but as I showed in the video, there was a reduction in the total weight of the bike. Thank you my friend for sharing your perspective. :) Cheers
Que brutalidade.....
Esse Modelo é da Década de 80. Vieram poucas para o Brasil. É muito difícil peças de reposição. As Altas Taxas de Impostos na Importação impossibilida. E no vídeo; bem explicado; nao tinham o motor original. Infelizmente.
😅😅 Valeu.
Obrigado.

@ealbuquerque46 Infelizmente não consegui essa informação. Why do you keep switching back and forth for RZ to RD. Wasn't it the
builders intentions to build use a 4 stroke engine from the beginning?
Is there a RD Turbo decal on the bike? Im just trying to understand
where the RZ 350 comparison is coming from . Maybe i missed
something.

@@RACER_TV MT07 is a parallel twin
@StoffelDilligas Sorry, my mistake. For some reason, the Honda CB 650 engine came to mind. (My next video is about a CB 650.) Lol.
But I think the MT07 engine would be too heavy for the fragile RD 350 frame. Furthermore, it has twice the displacement, so it is no longer a 350cc. Cheers.

:) Cheers
@@RACER_TV yeah yeah...

That's such a bad analogy. A brain transplant would be more accurate. Sounds like AI generated these scripts. I wish I could hear a real voice reading them too!
@yellowmeansfaster Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, things are more complicated than most people may think. I use this "robotic" voice created by software, because I'm Portuguese, and my bad English accent (and voice), can ruin the documentary character that I like for my videos. I already tried a real British voice in one of my videos, and, surprisingly, almost everyone hated it.
Interestingly, since the beginning of this year, I have been using an AI Upgrade on my usual artificial voice, and since then, I have received almost no criticism about the use of artificial voice in my videos. Cheers.

Every other in tro is "i" have never, or "i" haven't or "i" don't. see? Great videos though. Just too much commentary that includes you opinions.
JAJAJAJAJA
Thank you my friend for your support. I don't know if I understood your comment correctly, but basically, all my videos are based on my opinion about the bike presented. :) Cheers.
This has nothing to do with an RD.

I hate AI generated videos. Love the content can’t listen to a robot narration!
@jtreminge Sorry to hear that.
Cheers.
@@RACER_TV yep. I’m different I suppose. Can’t stand AI voice narration. In my opinion it is non personable. Hear that excuse all the time. No worries, just my humble opinion. I’m a small business owner and when someone doesn’t like something I’m doing, I want to know so I can improve. I was just providing this feedback in case you cared to know.
@jtreminger Yes, what you said is absolutely right. I greatly value feedback from the public on this channel. But as I said, I tried twice to have a real person narrate the videos. But believe it or not, almost everyone hated it. The problem is that 75% of this channel's audience, does not speak fluent English. And for this audience, this voice sounds very real, having been the channel's trademark for over 10 years. And almost all of them, tell me that now it's too late to change this voice. And this is a really difficult problem to solve, as it is not possible to please everyone. I hope you understand. :) Thank you my friend for sharing your opinion. :) Cheers
A.I. art and narration ruins the quality of your posts. We see its just cheating and most often fake on every level.
