From "Parks & Recreation": a mockumentary series following Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. "Whats a not gay way to ask him to go camping with me" Lmao
I know a great camping spot but it's pretty hard to get to, think you're up to the challenge? Nope, still sounds provocative in a homosexual manner.
Do you want to go camping with me I cant wait to show you the woods and I know how to make a comfortable camping spot
You. Me. Alone. Under the stars... No one can hear you scream right? Haha
@luxuryballer8291 it must sound gay even though its not that's the challenge not horror

I love how Ron is all for cutting expenses, but firing Leslie is a line he won’t cross
He likes small government, and Leslie is like an entire government contained in one salary

I love how delighted Ron is by the government shutdown he's like a kid on Christmas.
This is why we libertarians love Ron

I knew the second a government shutdown was announced a Parks & Recreation compilation was assured.
Jerry’s face when Leslie threw that painting he probably worked on the entire Government Shutdown into the lake was hilarious.😂

It's glorious.
Poor Andy not realizing 12% interest is actually a bad thing.😅 I also love that his actor Chris Pratt also said he had 12% of a plan in “Guardians of the Galaxy.”😂❤
I love Ben’s expression at Ron suggesting they sell city hall.😂
To be fair I think that he actually paid it off too so maybe that helped improve his credit score?
Ya he’s a fun guy. Like how he came back for the final season after his stardom took off and worked in how ripped he got
Fun fact, the reason 12 is used in situations like that is because its the highest number that is only 1 syllable so it rolls off the tongue for comedic effect easily

4:05 Ron slipping into a baseball-runner slide and then immediately recovering will always get a smile out of me 😂
Ron is exactly how I felt when the government shut down. This is the episode that was used to introduced me to the show, and it’s the reason I love the character.

That was a real masterpiece what Larry, Garry or Jerry was working on and Leslie just took it and chucked it into the water, that was so messed up, just let the man do something correct for the first time in his life woman!
He's married to a woman who's a dead ringer for Christie Brinkley, he'll be fine.

The irony is Ron is supposed to be a parody, and in the end he was just right.
Truth is stranger than fiction, and that quote gets proven almost every day these days.
About what? ...government shutdowns are not a good thing. That's something a suicidal country playing chicken with itself does.

hot take but I don't like how Leslie is mean to Jerry
Yeah I remember being bummed out by the bullying at one point in the series. It did not make any sense. Toby from the office for exemple can be weird and creepy, but Jerry/Gary is just so nice
I didn't like it either
Jerry of Parks and Rec and Toby of the office. I didn't like both being bullied for no apparent fault of theirs

I love Andy thinks the higher the interest rate, the better......
12% isn't even that bad today. I find that hilarious that they picked a super high number and that's considered above average now.
- if the government is shut down who's gonna stop AlQaida? 😂😂
Has anyone met the creator?
It hurt when I heard his interest rate, that’s normal now 😂
Why did he START with Leslie Knope, you'd think she's the most useful employee they have.
What's hilarious is with our current government, a 12% interest rate is pretty common
I don't get it, why Ron hate the government, but works there, quite an hypocrite.
He aims to destroy it from within
It's an "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer" type of thing
He purposely works for the government so that he can purposely sabotage the government.
No he says in an episode he will dive deep into the belly of the beast to be destroyed
I'm with Ron 100% throughout this.
Doesn't Ron work for the government?
Yeah but he’s a libertarian and on purpose doesn’t do anything so that government doesn’t increase
I honestly do not see how anyone could like Leslie.
It's fairly easy to figure out. As much of a pain as she is, she doesn't do what she does out of malice, she does it because she cares. She cares about her friends, her town, her state and country. She just happens to believe the path to a better world is a world where the government and the citizenry honor their obligations to each other. I have a friend who is very similar to that. Personally, I would rather be in a world where the government was a functional irrelevancy, but I can see his point of view same as hers.
М
Ron is probably the most ironically idiotic character I've ever seen. He hates government yet is a government employee and most of the time goes out of his way to do at little of his job as inhumanly possible thereby being the very source of why people hate government, he is literally his own worst enemy.
Speak for yourself. Things get worse when the government decides 'something has to be done'. I'd take some Rons over those DNR officers that decided to demand a person remove dams built by the local beaver population. Or those absolute gems who decided to have congressional hearings over music.
@@Auron3991 welp someone has poor reading comprehension, hell seems you didn't even understand what you wrote yourself. You are literally arguing in favor of paying an employee who purposefully tries not to do their job over paying an employee that is just bad at their job, as if either one is to be acceptable.
Like do you even get that the entire point of the character was to mock the "all government is bad" types? He hates the government but is totally dependent on said government for his lively hood, he thinks the government wastes money without doing anything of value yet is the highest paid person in his department while doing the least amount of actual work. Like I said, he is literally exactly what he hates about government.
Btw, I was around for those hearings, while they were stupid to do they were also demanded by a bunch of parents groups. They had hearings that taxpayers demanded they have, literally doing their jobs of addressing taxpayer concerns.
@@LunkovichTromofski I knew exactly what I said. Government employees don't have an incentive to do what's good for the country or (at this point) even care what the law already says. We have to live in reality, not fairy tale-land. And, in reality, things tend to get worse when the government decides to start meddling. I would love a world where the government actually did the right thing, but the choice is almost always between someone who won't do anything and someone who will actively make it worse. Perhaps this will illustrate: if my options are paying people to sit on their couch and paying people to break my windows, I would much rather pay for more people sitting on their couches.
Even the clips provide an example of government actively making things worse for no reason: closing parks. As it turns out, it actually costs more to keep people out of a park than to let them use it and just announce they won't have the regular maintenance.
@@Auron3991 Ok so you just read the first sentence and make up what you think is said so you can keep to your chosen narrative, got it, you can safely be ignored.
@@LunkovichTromofski While the comment was overall a response to the first paragraph because that was the most pertinent (and dumbest) part of your comment, I also pointed out that these clips were not a good example backing your second paragraph, as he had been noted as already reducing costs (if in stupid ways) and attempting to contribute to solutions for their current deficit (also in dumb ways). They had a budget issue, he was making suggestions that actually would work towards fixing it. Where the other person, in attempting to close parks, was making it worse. And I left the third paragraph alone because the Ninth and Tenth Amendments to the US Constitution kind of disagreed with your overall point there. Didn't figure I needed to chime in on that.
Not that you're acting in good faith here.
Interesting how they made female characters so repulsive and insufferable, especially the main one. "The mug that asks for a brick" if I ever saw one.
Okay Boomer
Nah Leslie's one of the best female comedy leads imo.. and there's not many out there 😂 mabye if you saw more of her 🤔
Interesting how wrong you are. The female characters on this show are one of the most loved among many TV series
@@Maya_hee That has to be proven. The only character most loved is Ron Swanson. I've never seen any reference to female characters. Apart from maybe the Audrey Plaza one, whatshername.
ok. boomer
I love that Ben and Leslie basically started as professional enemies, both completely standing against everything the other lives for. And they end up married with kids. Wild.
They don’t. Even in the shutdown episodes Ben admires Leslie and they drink together, sharing their common dreams of going into politics. Ben is just someone who is doing their job and won’t hesitate to fire his friends to do it.
@TheDirtysouthfan To a degree, I think they still are, but that's one of the things this show does very well. It does a fairly good job of setting up characters that are professionally or politically opposed to each other, but still friends and colleagues despite that.
a piece of me dies inside every time I see Leslie throw Jerry's painting into the water
Ron in fact did not enjoy camping with Ben.
@6:38 there's a generic store bought chainsaw in the background. Ron would NEVER own that sub-standard unit and the props dpt should have KNOWN it would have been a Husqvarna, Sthill, or at the least, a Jonsered. The axe was perfect. An authentic splitting axe with a hickory handle, but that cheap, sub-standard chainsaw really broke the spell for me.
They're coming🏃♂🏃♂🏃♂
Who the Russians?
