I'm a lot like Ron when it comes to birthdays. Even when i was a kid I hated having big parties. My favorite birthday was me and two of my friends having a sleepover and watching Harry Potter. We didnt even sing happy birthday, just hung out, drew, and talked about our favorite moments from 'Goblet of Fire'. Still makes me smile thinking about it.

As someone who hates birthdays , I can totally relate to Mr. Ron Swanson.
Starting in Middle School I stopped telling people my birthday. I didn't want it being announced over the PA System. Somehow Junior year in High School a girl I never really talked to found out what day my birthday was and told the office to announce it. No clue how she found it yet props to her to learning something even my friends didn't know.

Ron wouldn't get her 'licensed up' when giving her the gun. She's old enough. Its a gift not a sale from a dealer. It's hers no license needed. Let alone his character and and politics not aside you don't need a license for the 2nd Amendment. This is the same Ron that things night hunting without a license is ok. Shows the writers get it but don't at times.

I have the absolute same approach to my birthday as Ron. Even some of my closest friends have no idea of my age, nor the exact day. Wheneve they ask me, I say it is not important. Because that is how it is. It was never important for anyone, so why should it be different now.
birthday are to signify that you are now a year closer to your death. be it a reminder to us mere mortals that we are but a weak creature struggling every single day to ensure continuity of human species that will ultimately end up in death. a pointless struggle.

a large purpose of his character is show that while he proclaims to know all there is to know about life, he is very stubborn and often (like a dear friend of mine) ends up liking something if he actually gives it a try - and there are many instances where his character is a clear hypocrite
