I wish more of the world knew about this and applaud it. I am on a ketogenic diet for weight loss and brain health. At 68, I don't want to get dementia or cancer!

How long does it take for a ketogenic diet to starve cancer cells? A plant without water can last many days before it withers and dies. How long for cancer cells?

Thank you Doctor Champ, I had given up on the AMA ...
Physicians have abandoned the nutritional approach to patient diagnostics and medicine, simply because they are not trained in nutrition. A key part of the Hippocratic Oath ... “I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure... “, has been forgotten … of course as there is no money in healthy people.
Your diet on you blog is almost the same at my "the Centenarian Diet" with all the caveats ... only diff is that protein is limited to 1/2g /lb lean body mass (Seyfried) - ie Asian style where protein is an accoutrement. Also I follow Dr. Ames and his Triage Theory of Nutrition. Dr. Bonnie Bassler "Quorum Sensing, cell communication".
    70 Going On 100.

Kimchi hotpot is the best quick pantry dinner. Kimchi + bone broth + shrimp or fatty belly pork or both! It takes 10 minutes to make, its tasty and so good for you

I guess the problem with the KD is that when carbs are severely restricted, enough to get glucose below 80 mg/dL, there is a form of insulin resistance generated causing baseline insulin to be higher? It would seem there is a trade-off or balance between blood glucose and blood insulin? That is, you can have glucose between 80 and 100, while baseline insulin is very low, say, less than 5 or even less than 1 micro unit? Justin thinking out loud based on my own "biohacking." To riff a little further...
When I was "carb adapted" - eating breakfast typically involving cereal - a fasting glucose reading might've been 80 mg/dL and I would be hungry. I did no insulin test when eating like this. Currently I no longer eat cereal, and typically intermittent fast out to noon, 2PM or even later. I try to make "breakfast" nutrient dense - often eggs, kale, onions, mushrooms.
A typical morning, fasting glucose is now between 90 and 95 mg/dL. (No, I don't feel hungry at all). About 15 months ago I did an insulin test 3 hours after lunch (eggs on a bagel). Insulin was recorded as

Lifting weights is better than HIIT as HIIT raises Cortisol. If you do want to continue with HIIT only do it for 20 minutes max; the longer you HIIT the more cortisol is produced due to the impact on the body which isn't necessary bad, but for the Ketogenic lifestyle you want to reduce glucose levels. So, easy slow weightlifting is better and so is walking.
