    I think the British town was built to attract the people in the mainland who haven’t had a chance to tour Europe-like a theme park, not necessarily for the foreign tourists or the British people living in China.

      The town of Thames is predominantly made up of villas and is primarily inhabited by company executives, partners, and CEOs of large corporations. The town has also been developed into an open scenic area with castles, fountains, and squares, as well as many coffee shops, galleries, and art museums. During holidays and festivals, there are generally more tourists visiting the town.

    I feel that this Thames town is geared towards the local tourists (to take photos) rather than the foreign tourists.

    0:25 That copycat style is from the ancient Greece and Rome. They had great taste in arts and architecture. Their beauty and styles passed the test of time. People from all over still emulate them today. Unlike the current Western modern arts.

    Thinking about why Thames Town was built, if you look at it from the historical perspective of China, it makes sense to build in a style that looks like a town from the country the people you want to attract.
    If we look at Hong Kong, Gulongnu in Xiamen, and the foreign concessions in Shanghai we see that when foreigners lived in China they built in a style of their home countries.
    So what would Chinese developers logically assume “to attract them we should build in the style they are used to and comfortable with.”

    Did you get an opportunity to enter any residential properties? Do you have any idea of the current population and capacity? What was the transportation infrastructure like to get there and to navigate the area while there? Once you got to Thames Town were there any hotels?

      No, incorrect. thames town was not part of the former british concessions. It was constructed in the 2010s. If you are interested there is a walking video of thames town on my channel. you can watch it and clearly see its been built recently.

    我是建筑师,最不欣赏新复古建筑和拷贝外国古典建筑的行为。。每座建筑应该反映出时间和空间背景。。这些伪古典伪西洋更适合建在游乐园吧。。

      也不一定吧,很多欧美的建筑确实很漂亮,比如华为的很多研究院就全部采取欧洲建筑风格,没有采用中式的,确实好看,看看欧洲农村房子真好看,中国农村房子丑死了,家家逗死两层楼板房

    • @erfanyu902
      @erfanyu902 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jimmywang525 欧洲古典有其历史背景,现代欧洲人虽然尊重自己的建筑史,也不愿再拷贝了。因为跟任何艺术一样,建筑艺术也最注重创新!每个时代都应该有每个时代的精神。你可以去传承,但要在传统基础上再发展,而不是模仿复制。。华为的研究中心可惜了。。作为一个科技公司,在建筑方面居然不提倡创新!
