  • xHP DCT Flash For F Series BMW M2 M3 M4: Install & First Drive
    xHP Transmission flash software for the F series DCT transmission cars has just been release, so we wanted to document installing it on to a BM3 tunes F87 DCT M2 LCI as well as share initial opinions on how the car drives in the various transmission modes.
    The main reason the owner has decided to use the xHP software was the customisability you have over the way the transmission behaves during shifts and also for launch controls. Bizarrely, this cars 0-100 accelerations times have become very inconsistent with both the stock DCT flash and the GTS transmission software.
    This comparison mainly focuses on the difference between xHP stage 3 and the GTS DCT software, however we will be back with a more in depth look in to the how xHP has changed the car in the coming weeks, once we have had a chance to properly play with the settings.
    This is the cable we used to flash the car with xHP. - ebay.to/2ZOAMu2
    You will also need a OTS style adapter, as we were using an iphone we used a lightning one - ebay.to/33AmVsA
    The setup is finicky with the cable xHP on the iphone, so take your time to follow the setup procedure listed in the app. Also make sure you are running the latest version of the xHP software.;

    XHP recommends 50 or so miles of stop and go before beating on the car for the trans to adapt that’s why I might’ve seen a little sluggish at first

    Torque punch was what I noticed the most for my e92 dct n54. Put it to 7 and the punch destabilises the back tyres with each shift, it's a nice feeling

      See now this car does that as it was before. It need negative torque punch.

      @@ZeroTo60Tube yh the none M dct just has an option for sport for the gearbox not shiftlogic. Xhp basically gives me shiftlogic and I can adjust the torque punch or turn it off. I like it on 5. (Out of 7). Unknown power. Jb4 18psi with mhd bef. Maybe 350bhp on the road or a bit more. I had to deactivate drop down before the xhp flash came our due to clutch slips

      Eddie, I've got an E92 DCT running Stage 2+ from MHD and have been on the fence about xHP because it seems to REQUIRE the user endlessly fiddle with the torque punch etc settings. -- What was your experience with running more than stock power?

    • @LiveET
      @LiveET 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bwhobackk Sorry for the late response. I personally did not have that experience. All I did was use the manual or XHP tune at the top of MHD map choices, and haven't had any problems. I take off the torque limiter and run with linear throttle. So far no issues. I noticed without the linear throttle my car would jolt forward from lights. I really just think that's clutch wear and I need to change that out and reset my adaption values.

    The purpose of Xhp tuning on DKG is not having faster shifts but avoiding clutches slips increasing line pressure after engine tuning.

      100% this. Cup2's behave like a semi slick, and require a lot of heat in them to actually provide more grip than a PS4. For 99% of driving, the PS4 will have more grip on the street.

    Torque reduction and limiting by gear should help.
    On the N54 XHP allows torque limiting in 1st gear when brake boosting, not sure if it allows limiting torque on 1st gear on the M2, I'm sure if you play around with the settings you can get the 0-60 times down to low 4's. 👍

    I was able to get my OTS map f82 to run a 10.7@131 . 10.9@132 dragy passes on the street with 1.8 60 foots. Can watch vids in my channel against 700+whp cars, dragstrip, etc. The secret is TiRE. The LC mode has hidden nannies that pulls power even with TC off. It doesn't seem XhP had changed that. The only way to hook these cars off the line is a real tire (nto1r/ET SS). My car has multiple 3.3 0-60s and 3.6 0-100s consistently on street without burnout. You just need to practice and need a different tire compound. Playing around with torque reduction settings is a rabbit hole I went down in the past. Unfortunately, the way the LC logic works, whatever you pull out in first is mirrored in second gear as well, which can slow the car down. The amount of power you'll have to pull out to hook a Michelin tire is going to just make the car just as slow. Order a drag set up if you are serious.

    been reading a lot about this app, So I have an e92 n54 with dct. I have tried the 335is and 135is software on it and they shift the same but wuth different rpm launch control (5k and 3.5k respectively) and yeah, if you can launch it that low that one hell of a way of getting a faster 0-100 time. Spool street hast a few threads with setting dfor this software, having the most interesting for you guys would be the torque reduction and the different launch control mode (as de dct stock just dumps the clutch) maybe a combo of both and the rpm lowering would help a lot with the times
    For me? Im interested in the different diff ratio you can install on the software so I can install the GTS software OR if this software by itself can give the crispier downshifts (for track driving) that the GTS softwares have since t he non M software is quite dull in the heat of the moment for downshifting

    I have a first gen DCT in an E92 335is it is amazing in manual mode, it will hold gears just like a manual, the problem is in comfort mode when you apply the throttle to the kick down it gear searches for the lowest gear possible and your going 80 mph in second gear and the tachometer red lines to the rev limiter, which triggers the malfunction lite

    • @ZeroTo60Tube

I don't have Xhp, but i have MHD's GTS transmission flash, not sure if it helped and the lowest my launch control would go was 3,000rpm's. I'm so impressed by your time! I have an F82. MHD stage2+ with catless DP and comp exhaust with the small cats left. I found E30 is much more torquey than E85. I don't have a custom tune. I ran 285/35-19 Bridgestone Potenza sports which are a more sticky tire than yours. I just bought Xhp and done some mods. Didn't like the OG, CS or GTS trans tunes. I made the car much more usable by lowering the shiftpoints in the lowest gearbox setting so I can use Sport on the throttle map which is linear., HUGE improvement and I'm only on my second day with it. Used Xhp with my 435i too that had the zf8. That trans was setup up perfectly.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can only limit torque with xHP. Which we haven't played with yet. The BM3 tune limits boost. However it only able limit a percentage of full boost in 1st 2nd and 3rd. So the car runs the biggest reduction which is 50% in first gear. This would still light the tyres up effortlessly with the default minimum DCT launch rpm. With the stock flash the lowest launch rpm was like 2750 where now we can launch from 2000rpm and it spins up so much less. Hoping to try torque limit instead of boost limiting in the next few days. But wanted to get some miles on the car with the new tune before going crazy changing settings.

      You are correct they will work better with more heat in them. But it’s not a massively noticeable on this car. Even with tyre temps at 70-80c post track it will still light them up on a launch.

      Launch the car daily, constantly hit the limiter, sharpen the clutch engagement, increase the rpm limit, and something will fail. N54, N55, & S55 all are held with the bolt and a friction disk. It can happen.

    • @7jaymc
      @7jaymc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      think the s55 spins easier due to the timing system drives two hpfps instead of one, the timing system also drives a larger oil pump, timing system also drives a water pump which is not electric on the s55, and the dct down shifts alot harder than non dct equipped N54's and n55's. This makes some sense since the s55's have been reported to spin even while cruising.
      I've never heard of high power n55 or n54 spinning crank hubs
