Whooooop so where is the stream OS version that’s the one I’m waiting on… I have the OG legion Go and I’m going to just buy the new controllers for it, I don’t need the Go 2…nice unboxing man
Does the Legion Go S run modern titles noticeably better than Steam Deck? Do titles like Star Wars Outlaws, Indiana Jones and Jedi Survivor with medium settings hit 60 fps is the question here! So there should be a noticeably improvement to Steam Deck. And too bad that this Windows version is noticeably more expensive than the Steam OS one! Hello I know this has nothing to do with the content of this video, but there's a question that's been bothering my mind and I thought you may know the answer. I recently bought a Lenovo Legion Pro 5i with an Intel 13700HX and RTX 4060 and I'm thinking about upgrading my RAM from 16GB to 32GB since it's always half full and I usually run out of VRAM while gaming. I was hoping it would compensate for the low VRAM capacity to some extent (I'm aware it can never replace actual VRAM, but it might still be better than nothing). My question is: how much RAM will be allocated to the GPU as shared GPU memory after I upgrade the RAM? The laptop currently shows 8GB shared from RAM.
Sold my LEGO - a little too big and too little battery life on average, even with Bazzite installed. Kinda hoping to see how the Z2 Go stacks up against Steam Deck APU, especially in emulation (Switch mainly as Steam Deck can't quite run some of the games I want to run smoothly (TOTK still won't run well on any HHD device yet, except maybe latest AMD 370 chips).
The contour to the grips look nice. I’ve wondered why so many handhelds have leaned towards a more square shape. I feel like we need more controller shapes to these handhelds with angular grips. The steam deck kinks my wrists and gives me fatigue even though the grip shape is comfortable.
I have spent 2 days gaming on the go an and totally agree with you. It’s by far the most comfortable handheld I have got atm (deck, ally and Og go). It’s a shame there isn’t a z2 chip option for it, I would happily pay more for the better chip
How does it run emulation that's mainly why I buy handhelds,I don't worry about playing pc games on them. Does it have enough power to run ps3,ps2 emulation etc Good channel by the way i just subscribed.
Out of all the reviews I've seen of the Legion, you are the only ones I've found that have bothered to mention the eGPU compatibiliity. Let alone test them out. I did notice you had a bit of drver trouble to get the Nvidia working in your other video, but as it's already AMD based, I've found using AMD grpahics cards as an eGPU are practically plug and play.
That’s great to hear. When it first launched I had so many issues with amd cards that I used the nvidia for the video and haven’t tried the amd since. I was planning on testing the egpu on this one soon, I have a 4070 and rx7800 xt I was planning on using
Out of curiosity I just run Geekbench 6 on my laptop, to see the difference. My CPU benchmark gives me 858 single core and 2890 multi. It's a 4C/8T cpu, the i7 4710HQ. Interesting comparison.
Great video. I am looking for recommendations. I am traveling a lot and want to get a new device by March. I was going to get the new Go S with 32GB but saw a review that would have a thermal problem. Can you confirm it and I appreciate your opinion. Thanks and subscribed.
the Go S fan does spin up a lot but is not overly loud. It sounds much better than the OG Go with its whiny fan. The Ally X is the most powerful with great battery but IMHO is not that comfortable. The Steam Deck OLED would be my choice based on your spec providing it does all you want.
I pre-ordered this. I love the look of it and the 8” screen. It fixes a lot of things about the original Legion Go that I didn’t like, but the Z2 Go chip is worrying me. It seems pretty weak. Maybe I can be patient and wait for the Z1 Extreme version of the Go 2.
It fixes a lot of things over the original legion go? What like? OK I don't like the detachable controllers or the really loud fan noise on performance mode but apart from that i prefer the original over this one and can't wait for legion 2. Have the original Go, just threw in a TeamGroup MP44 4TB 2280 and doing a reinstall. I LOL when I saw the Go S cardboard stand thinking they were mocking the other branded handheld that had one, then I saw it didn't have a kickstand itself......
May I ask if you could help connect the legion go 1 original controllers to the legion s via bluetooth, does the controller still work? can the legion go S legion space software support key configuration. Many thanks if this could be covered by you and appreciate all the work shown!
The claw ai+ (the newest model) looks the most promising but I havent got my hands on it yet! As soon as it gets to the UK I will get it in and compare it
Reminds me of the Ayaneo Kun but with a little better structure and a more fair price range. It just needs a full kickstand and removable D-Pad options. 🤔
If you want the trackpads (which are really useful if you try and take advantage of), Oled display, long-time support, and don't care about playing the latest AAA games, get the steam deck. If you want more powerful hardware, don't care if screen is LCD or OLED, want to play latest AAA games and don't want the trackpads( which might limit or make it a hassle to play some old games since some have no proper controller support),then wait for Legion go s with steam os and z1 variant.
@ thanks so much man I have a Xbox series x so I don’t really need it for the triple A games only spider man tbh and I heard you can get a steady 30 to 40 fps on it so good enough for me only want it to play steam games you can’t get on consoles and when I’m out and about. Steam deck just seems so much more user friendly than the legion go.
@ Great! Then you'll check out how the PlayStation 5 controller works on your Legion Go S console and show it to us so we can see you perform more Hadoken with Ryu. Thank you ☺️
Yeah, there is no way this can compete with an x! The only thing this has going for it is the large screen and price, I managed to bag mine for 460 with a 10% voucher and some Lenovo points I had saved up
Question is it worth to still buy the og legion go? Because I found it for 490 bucks new and I’m considering buying it should I wait it out for the legion go 2 or legion go s or should I get the og legion go?
The OG go is often really cheap at the mo and if you find one for 400-500 then it’s definitely worth it. I still love mine. The Go 2 will be better but will probably be 900 at launch
I think i would get the msi claw ai8 over this thing. That thing scores a 4000 gpu score in timespy. I really want the legion go 2 with that oled screen though
@MashITTech The original Legion GO has THE worst d-pad I've ever used in my entire life. I wasn't holding my breath on the d-pad on the S. Let's see how the GO 2 feel. My Ally X is going to be hard to beat, the d-pad on that it solid.
Thats a really tough call. The OG Go is a great price right now and we dont know when the Go 2 is releasing or how good it's going to be. I still love my Go so think it is definitely worth 550
Love the form factor a lot but the performance doesn't seem very promising unfortunately. Hopefully the legion go 2 addresses the performance issues and bigger battery, I could care less about the detachable controls but do like the trigger feature with a physical button
I think this will Make a lot more sense at 500 with steam os. One thing I will give this go s is the comfort, have spent 2 days with it and love the feel of the device, my old go is uncomfortable in comparison
such a missed opportunity for the thumbnail. shouldve shown the device. those who dont know what it is would have never imagined that its a handheld gaming console
@@MashITTech my 0.02, highlight of the unboxing is to see how its packed and what it comes with. the product itself should be seen in the thumbnail to catch the attention of those who scroll by. those who know what the product is should already know what it looks like, but they would have no idea how its like to unbox it. anyway, great video, just thought id share. you do what you think is best :)
Why people dance around it, just say it slower than ROG Ally Extreme. But however they did countered on the bad things like better battery and comfort. The extreme miss out on
I am not dancing around it. I stated performance is worse than z1 extreme. I think the only benefit of the z2 go will be price but at the moment Lenovo have got the price too high IMHO. It’s only 100 less than OG go at launch which in actual fact can often be picked up much less atm in sales
Of course only some countries get the 500 dollar price tag, 629 seems a bit pricey for my liking. I wouldn't even care but while the 55wh battery is big, i feel like at that price point at least 65 should be the minimum, ideally 75-80. Not sure im gona hop in this gen, will see. Last note is about the cpu, what made the sd special was battery efficiency, this z2go chip is rated from 15 w or higher, we've seen processors with similar architectures be way less efficient while being less powerful, in order to make sense efficiency should be comparable, while offering a performance overhead at higher power consumption. Other than those, i like what i'm seeing. Edit: i think it's important to remind us that we are consumers, companies will gladly increase price when there is no competition, so technically as years pass and new tech comes out we should get more performance for less, in short term it doesn't look like we are getting what we deserve.
The 500 version is not released yet. That is the go s with steam os instead of windows (they can save the price of a windows license) I managed to get my go s for 460 with a 10% discount voucher and some Lenovo points I had saved up
No reason at all. The ally is better but more expensive. This is more an entry device and should be much cheaper (I managed to pick mine up for 460 with a discount voucher and some Lenovo points I had)

Have the original Go, just threw in a TeamGroup MP44 4TB 2280 and doing a reinstall. I LOL when I saw the Go S cardboard stand thinking they were mocking the other branded handheld that had one, then I saw it didn't have a kickstand itself......
Would you mind doing cyberpunk 2077 benchmark compared to the ally X if possible, battery, if not can u still do it?
I have Ally but not the X, is that ok?
Had someone in a FB group having stuttering issues with RDR2 last night. With all that vram and with steamdeck os I was surprised there was issues !!!
May I ask if you could help connect the legion go 1 original controllers to the legion s via bluetooth, does the controller still work? can the legion go S legion space software support key configuration. Many thanks if this could be covered by you and appreciate all the work shown!
Will look into that for you :)
Do you know if it is already compatible with FSR3 and AFMF 2?
show off the touchpad in some games maybe, is it just a gimmick or is it actually usable in games, I'd love to know
I will give it a try but I fear it won’t be accurate enough
I have LG1 and i think to buy LGS or onexgpu what do you recommended for me?
egpu is a great addition and the Go S isnt better than Go other than more comfortable and VRR screen
@MashITTech ok thanks for ur advice
What should i get. Z1, Z2 Ally x or claw 8 ai? Money isn't a problem here. I want the best performance??
The claw ai+ (the newest model) looks the most promising but I havent got my hands on it yet! As soon as it gets to the UK I will get it in and compare it
@MashITTech cheers mate
Cant wait to buy but im more interested to get the LegionGo 2 instead
Reminds me of the Ayaneo Kun but with a little better structure and a more fair price range. It just needs a full kickstand and removable D-Pad options. 🤔
yeah the kick stand is the one thing I really miss from the OG Go
we need a battery life benchmark, more tha performance imo
I am testing it at the moment. Takes me a while to run all teh benchmarks but will be back asap
I cannot unseen the big “LEG” label on the package😂. So weird. Especially thinking about Lenovo used to name itself “LEG-END”
Should try this out again with Bazzite installed to see how well it would perform before they roll out the version with the SteamOS.
It’s on my list, just so much I want to test 😂
Is the Legion Go S an upgrade in performance vs the Steam Deck?
That’s a good question. Let me test them both together and let you know
@@MashITTech I'll be on the lookout then. Thanks!
Should I get a steam deck OLED now or wait for the legion go with steam OS to come out ?
Steam deck just seems so much more user friendly than the legion go.
deck is definitely more used friendly. I am looking forward to being able to put steam OS on this in teh future to compare it against the deck
I have a question: can you connect a PS5 controller via Bluetooth to the Legion Go S? so I can play better and perform Hadoken more perfectly 🤔☺️
Should be able to, I will test. The stock D pad sucked for Hadoken, the Go nearly got Hadokened out teh window!
@ Great! Then you'll check out how the PlayStation 5 controller works on your Legion Go S console and show it to us so we can see you perform more Hadoken with Ryu. Thank you ☺️
Obviously it’s a windows pc
@@MashITTechyou seriously call yourself a tech TH-camr? “Should be able to” lmao
@@arjunkhanna206 Okay, okay, but don't be mad at him. 😕
Rdna2 igpu so no surprise 😅, hope the price and steamos would justify it, personally as a rog ally x owner i will wait for go2 or ally2 this summer
490 is a bargain and I would probably take that unless you really want the new old Go2 when it launches but that will be about 800
@ It seems more like an update then an upgrade honestly
How noisy is it compared to the asus rog ally?
Hi mass, i want to buy legion go z1 can you recomend me it still worth or no? Or i should wait for z2?
The OG go is often really cheap at the mo and if you find one for 400-500 then it’s definitely worth it. I still love mine. The Go 2 will be better but will probably be 900 at launch
I think i would get the msi claw ai8 over this thing. That thing scores a 4000 gpu score in timespy. I really want the legion go 2 with that oled screen though
Yeah I am looking forward to getting that one
The need to step up the quality of the controllers for the money it is fairly unimpressive
Analogue sticks were good but man. I wish they would put a better d pad on it
@MashITTech The original Legion GO has THE worst d-pad I've ever used in my entire life. I wasn't holding my breath on the d-pad on the S. Let's see how the GO 2 feel. My Ally X is going to be hard to beat, the d-pad on that it solid.
I’m definitely getting the steam a pc already with windows 😣
Should i wait for the LG 2 S or buy the LG for 550
Thats a really tough call. The OG Go is a great price right now and we dont know when the Go 2 is releasing or how good it's going to be. I still love my Go so think it is definitely worth 550
Can the Legion S handle games like Huniepop?
Can we get battery test?
Definitely, I will be hammering it for a couple of days to get battery and game tests done 👍
Much rather see the black steam Os version! But this was a nice video
Will get the steam os as soon as it’s available 👍
Love the form factor a lot but the performance doesn't seem very promising unfortunately. Hopefully the legion go 2 addresses the performance issues and bigger battery, I could care less about the detachable controls but do like the trigger feature with a physical button
I think this will
Make a lot more sense at 500 with steam os. One thing I will give this go s is the comfort, have spent 2 days with it and love the feel of the device, my old go is uncomfortable in comparison
Wanna see how this goes vs steam deck and rog x
What score does the steam deck get... I rather you compare those two
I will try, sadly 3dmark wont work but I will do game benchmarks
yeah, put that power supply directly on that screen
haha I was gentle honest!
Plus I am so rich now, I can just buy another one!
Is it better than Msi claw core ultra 5 ?
such a missed opportunity for the thumbnail. shouldve shown the device. those who dont know what it is would have never imagined that its a handheld gaming console
Thanks, As it was an unboxing I wasn't sure to show it or not
@@MashITTech my 0.02, highlight of the unboxing is to see how its packed and what it comes with. the product itself should be seen in the thumbnail to catch the attention of those who scroll by. those who know what the product is should already know what it looks like, but they would have no idea how its like to unbox it. anyway, great video, just thought id share. you do what you think is best :)
Well I always appreciate feedback, I am no expert so need all the help I can get 😂 I will take some shots later and give it a go. Thanks again
Imma buy this if it run mh wilds smoothly... If not, maybe im gonna waiting for legion 2. Oh my~
Could you get any 8inch glass screen protector for this?
Yes, lenovo offer one on their site for £10
I would Prefer an oled hdr screen. Does it have that?
no, but the more expensive Go 2 will when it releases
That is the go s with steam os instead of windows (they can save the price of a windows license) I managed to get my go s for 460 with a 10% discount voucher and some Lenovo points I had saved up
Wtf why are the usb c right next to each other, feel like will run into fitment issues with using two at once.
I managed to use the PSU and a thumb drive without issue. At least it has 2 on the top! the one on the bottom of the OG go was terrible
12:12 im super dissapointed. I dont understand why tf they'd put a WORSE APU in it. Smh
I want the SteamOS Nebula Violet version
Nice thanks 😊
Does it have the option to have Steam OS instead of Windows?
I just don't see why I would spend a bunch of money to get this over the ROG Ally I already have
No reason at all. The ally is better but more expensive. This is more an entry device and should be much cheaper (I managed to pick mine up for 460 with a discount voucher and some Lenovo points I had)
@@MashITTech ah yeah thank you for the reply. I am still happy with my ROG Ally and don't think i'll upgrade even when the z2extreme handhelds come
Inexcusable to have a bad d-pad on a device at any price. Thanks for showing that.
