STOP Blaming the Jedi Council

There is this annoying trend in the Star Wars Community where people blame the Jedi Council for Anakin's turn to the Dark Side.
In this video, I discuss why this argument is misguided and ultimately undermines the very purpose of the Prequel Trilogy. Some themes that I talk about are the Jedi Order's philosophy/religion, how the Jedi Council did actually try to help Anakin, the powerful manipulation of Palpatine, and George Lucas' vision for both the Prequel Trilogy and Star Wars as a whole.
Of course, this is just my opinion, and I welcome discussion/disagreement. Either way, please enjoy the video!

i think this is because people have developed an absurdly altruistic view of anakin. he had a very warped view of what a jedi was and felt cheated when he didn’t get power to control every aspect of his life. his desire for power ultimately comes from his fear of things he cant control (death being the biggest example) this is very understandable but the difference is anakin genuinely feels entitled to this power and allowed himself to hate the jedi because they were “jealous” of his greatness and wouldnt let him achieve his potential as a result. he was delusional and selfish and although most of our sympathy for him ccomes from the framing that he “wants to stop someone from dying” in reality he wants control over death. he didnt get selfish and power hungry out of nowhere. there was always a selfish aspect to his motivation we just sympathize with it because in this instance its to save his loved ones which we would all like to do

I agree the Jedi council wasn’t at fault while I can see why they are to blame but I understand they believe they are doing the right thing even if it was not good. The way I see it is the Jedi lost their way the moment they didn’t see Palpatine as a Sith Lord and too deep in Republic politics plus they were too draw in the light side of the force because like him or not Palpatine was right about one thing to learn about the force one must learn every aspect of it light and dark without being consume by one of them the problem is The Jedi strive for peace but once they have it peace dull their senses to conflict and never accept change or adept to it the fall of Anakin wasn’t the Jedi council or Anakin fault but at the same time it is let be honest Obi wan may have not been the best teacher for Anakin due to him just being knighted and no experience being a teacher all he have is the Jedi order knowledge if things were different Qui gon would be the perfect teacher and father figure to Anakin but at least Obi Wan was there for him. It just prove the Jedi order isn’t perfect no order is hell in the eu Luke made changes in his new Jedi order it wasn’t perfect but every order face challenges but on Disney trilogy they made Luke a complete idiot and hypocrite he have no right to blame the old Jedi order for the rise of Sidious and making Darth Vader while he made Kylo Ren and let Snoke on the loose the only difference is Obi wan and Yoda exile themselves because the empire was in power and would have kill them on sight and have to train Luke or Leia. Disney Luke however just gave up on the order while the new republic is in power.

The Jedi council did fail him tho there system hasn’t failed at all BECAUSE all the Jedi they trained were from infancy anakin was a 9 year old boy that has already formed attachments at the age of 9 and qui gon understood this but the Jedi didn’t they are supposed to be wise smart and powerful yet they didn’t understand this fundamental truth if they were so good they would have understood his training needed to be unorthodox to mold him into the Jedi he needed to be focusing more on managing his attachments but they didn’t they should have understood he doesn’t fear the dark side like regular Jedi because he grew up with all these emotions until 9 and then all the sudden he’s supposed to suppress his anger??????? His fear for the ones he loves??????? It’s easier said than done as the Jedi council the leaders of the Jedi they should have understood he needed special training
