I just happened to stumble on this right after it was posted. I agree completely with your comments. I have Burncycle and I'm still learning to play it. It's a very clever "thinking out of the box" design. I have everything so far for Too Many Bones and Cloudspire and have an all in KS order for Hoplomachus. No regrets, I would buy them again if I lost them. The imagination in the designs is unbelievable. Sometimes there is a little quirkiness in the rules but it just adds to the fun.

Great video! Just went through the learn to play and this game is so clever. It definitely has a lot of depth and stuff going on, but it seems to flow very well!

This game is threatening to dethrone TMB as my number one of all time. I would have never thought that possible but it’s true!

I need to ask this as I was about to reluctantly pull the trigger on TMB. Is Burncycle still worth getting, I've seen more negative reviews than positive so I'm not sure. CTGs are expensive.😬

    • @gameline146

@@beaglegod1it all depends. It is way more of a puzzle and combat is not its aim. It is more crunchy and technical than TMB. For me the theme and subterfuge aspect was appealing. The learning curve is certainly steeper than TMB but much like most of the stuff CTG publishes you have to invest the time to learn it and then it shines. I would say that if you are happy with TMB and like that complexity level you may struggle with this but if the theme grabs you and you spend the time with it I would say there is a good chance you’d like it.

It looks so fun! This came in right in the middle of a big painting project so I haven't gotten it tabled yet (I only have one hobby space 😄) but Iove everything CTG so far and am sure I will love this one too.

Haven't picked this one up yet. Didn't have the funds when it was on Kickstarter and I'm over budget this year but I am excited to get it when I am able. I have Too Many Bones, Cloud Spire and everything for them, wish they hit the table more.

Great video Rob! Nicely showcased. This definitely looks like my kind of game - fun whether you’re playing solo or with others. I’ve had my eye on CTG ever since I put Cloudspire on my wishlist, and now burncycle is added to that list!
I wish the quality were just a tad lower so they’d be a little more affordable! But I know that is part of their undeniable charm. Unfortunately I don’t own any of CTG’s games yet but I may be able to later on in the year.

@@nomorecontinues6564 If you go 2nd hand for Cloudspire try and get the new printing (or the 1st printing with the upgrade pack) as it's got some changes that make the game easier to get to grips with.. it's still a tough learn even the new version with some modified more clear keywords and a better manual though.
As for quality it works for Cloudspire as it's a very deep game with lots of re-playability and to that end I think it's worth/earns having the level of quality the game has as it's not a shallow game hiding behind nice components.
So if you like a genuinely complex puzzle with some push your luck and random elements to change up each scenario to add some variability then it's worth a look.
I own everything and outside of gameplay expansions I really like the upgraded health chips, only thing I'd advise against is the minis.. yep they look cool but make the game really fiddly to actually play so I rarely even use them.

@@RocketMagnetUK thanks so much for the tips! Very great idea to keep in mind the second printing with the improvements (or get the update kit).
I have no doubts that these games are worth it, just makes them less attainable for me for the moment!

Burncycle was suppose to arrive august 2021, so it wasn’t on time but they are not to blame. I agree with you on every other point. I love chip theory games. I have never been so excited in receiving a game as when it is a CTG game:) every game is like an heirloom :)

fantastic video @Rob, CTG truly are magicians in that they somehow made their most accessible game yet perhaps their deepest game with near infinite depth. It won't be leaving my gaming table for quite some time 🙂

Did you really have to give a glowing review to the CTG game I decided not to back? Now I'll have to pick it up when I back their Skyrim game. Have any extra room on the farm for some games (or maybe one of my kids)?
