Great run through Mark, enjoyed your views on Burncycle. We're enjoying our plays of this a lot and agree this isn't going to be for everyone, bit like Cloudspire to be fair. It's actually gripping us more than we thought it would which is a huge positive, e.g. we just keep wanting to get it to the table.
Well done Mark. I love the game and in all honesty, all the things you mentioned are all positives in my book, but I can see how some might be negatives, especially cost.
I didn’t know what to expect from Burncycle but I knew I wanted it. It did everything I would’ve wanted from a game made by CTG. I still need to play it more before I can compare it to a game like TMB but it’s fun and that’s really what was important to me and what I wanted. I’m satisfied! Great video and talk.
Outstanding video! I think Chip Theory gets a bad wrap because they are priced at a premium price point and have a high quality of production. I feel those that complain are envious and would like to get into a game at a lower price point, but CTG isn't about producing games at a quality that effects their standards. Not everyone can buy a Ferrari, and Ferrari isn't going to start making budget models to appease those upset they can't afford one, this is the way I look at CTG. There are plenty of games out in the market that I am sure can fill the space that CTG doesn't hit, and I am okay with that. I, like yourself, am enamored with their games and will usually go all in on them (I passed on Burncycle until I saw more reviews but I will be going down that rabbit hole after Hoplomachus: Victorum & Remastered arrive!) After playing TMB I backed all the content that I didn't have in the last crowdfunding campaign. Price is always a factor in making purchases but at the end of the day if you want something you can go secondhand market or just save for it. What is great about CTG is that they never do exclusive content and always have that stuff available on their website. Buying directly from them also lowers paying an even higher mark up from a retailer. Again I look at price as a minor factor if all other boxes are checked.
good to know the cards pass the sticky elbow test lol for me although i think it is a good game it is probably the weakest in the chip theory line up and for me this is mainly because i kinda feel theres nothing mechanically fun about using chips in this one... it was fun to shuffle and stack health in cloudspire and tmb or see ur towers at a glance ect... great video mark Stay Hexy!
