    In this video, I'm going to show you how to build a mid century modern inspired dog bed made out of white oak and walnut. What makes this dog bed stand out is the embedded tennis balls on the side. Overall, this was a pretty simple project, with a little bit of math involved for cutting the grooves for the tennis balls! Thanks for checking out the video and let me know what you think!

    Not at ALL a criticism...but I found it a little amusing to see Festool, Incra, Woodpeckers, Jessem...and a Ryobi jigsaw. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that combination. But hey, if it cuts, it cuts!

    What are the silver clamping aids you used on the joints? Seems like a great way to get clamping pressure on miters.

    • @BevelishCreations

  • @FiveFifteen
    @FiveFifteen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Alex. Really cool! I noticed you set up your incra sled to the right of the blade. I was thinking of doing the same. Any particular reason you prefer that? Also, what are those cylinder holds you have clamped to the corners to help.. clamp the miters? Thanks!

    • @BevelishCreations
      @BevelishCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I set it up on the right because I do a lot of angled cuts. I won’t be able to do that on the left side. Those clamps are called “clamping blokkz” and you can get them from Rockler. They’re pretty expensive. There’s a free file somewhere out there that you can download and 3D print them for free if you have a 3D printer

  • @balisticsquirel
    @balisticsquirel 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The design intent of something can be for all sorts of reasons. Aesthetics, function, etc.. I wonder what the reasoning was for lifting the bed (legs) which an old dog then needs to jump up onto.

    • @BevelishCreations
      @BevelishCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s actually better to give old dogs elevated beds to reduce the amount of height changes when getting in and out of bed

    • @balisticsquirel
      @balisticsquirel 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BevelishCreations Interesting. How does a raised bed "reduce the amount of height changes"? The dog goes from floor to floor plus bed plus raise, as opposed to going from floor to floor plus bed. Seems like the raise creates a greater height change rather than a lesser one. I mean, that's what the word "raised" means right.

    • @BevelishCreations
      @BevelishCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please google this topic, there’s been quite a bit written about it.

    • @BevelishCreations
      @BevelishCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll just say, it’s the same as why it’s easier for us to get in and out of a bed that’s raised with legs and a box versus just a mattress on the floor

    • @balisticsquirel
      @balisticsquirel 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BevelishCreations I don't think it is the same. Watch the footage of a dog getting onto a bed, including Sammy in your vid. They move to standing upon the bed and then lay down. We generally do not jump up onto our beds and then move from standing to laying.

    Same question as in your previous video...what is the jig that is attached to your fence in frame 7:52?

  • @Ross_Eddy
    @Ross_Eddy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think that you should have kept the tennis ball whole, made a hole through the side of the bed to hold the balls in place, then you can take them out and use them to play with your dog. Just an idea...

    • @BevelishCreations
      @BevelishCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My dog doesn’t really play fetch anymore. And even if she did, the balls would get really dirty really fast so I’d always end up getting new ones to put in. That’s why I didn’t want to do it that way

    9:15 Careful, you're doing a climb cut here with the back of the router bit! If you need to make 2 passes, you should do the inside one first, then move the fence further from the bit for the second pass.
