- In this action packed shooting video I'm out with my son thermal hunting with the brand new, Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XG50 in the field, let's RIP in. This shooting trip I'm out hunting feral pigs, deer, foxes and feral cats. There's heaps of thermal shooting footage with this new scope displaying real world usage and performance. Join me and my 7 year old little boy as we ride around on the quad bike taking care of pest animals. It's a beautiful area to spend time in, I'm grateful to get the work up there and spend some quality time away with the little fella. Always a big thanks to the property owners for having us up.

I'm not shooting for human consumption on this trip, it is purely pest control of invasive species in Australia. These uncontrolled animals are an environmental and agricultural menace, often carrying bacterial and diseases like brucellosis.
I am a vertebrate pest control - contract shooter in NSW. For those wondering about the suppressor, I hold the necessary permit in NSW to do so. Rifle used, I always get asked that - It's a custom Tikka T3 chambered in 6mm BR, 18" Carbon Six CF wrapped barrel and Hi-Tec Industries CF stock. The suppressor is made by Shawmac Industries, which works amazingly well on this cartridge shooting subsonic Speer 75gr Varmint Hollow Points. Regular supersonic ammunition, I'm shooting Nosler 80gr Ballistic Tips (all ammo is reloaded, no please don't ask me for load data as I don't share this information). Thermal scope is obviously a Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XG50. For scanner duties, I'm running Pulsar Merger LRF XP50 thermal binoculars.

Mate your son's learning from one of the best to be one of the best. My old man started taking me out around the same age and because I was that young the values of ethical hunting I was taught were set into me for life. I still have his old BSA 243 and Winchester 3030. I shot my first pig when I was 10 with that. The kickback thumped my shoulder so hard the old lady went off thinking I'd broken my shoulder falling of the back of dad's bike. She didn't believe us and thought I was covering for dad letting me fall off.
re-watching to give youtube the finger and help with the youtube "algorithm" as i know its always harder to get the same view on a re-upload.

Good evening Nathan. As you may remember I am definitely not a hunter or shooter, but I have never seen one of your videos that has caused me any problem. I watch them to be educated on progress with feral/vermin control, not for entertainment. You have always been selective, accurate and humane in your "work". I can remember seeing nothing in the original video which caused me any concern or reason to challenge you. Please keep up the great work you are doing.

I am pleased to see the therm2 pro XG50 picking up strands of fence wire. My therm2 xp50 pro did not do that at all with any setting change and it made it a nogo for my needs with all the fence lines and pens I remove hogs around. I sent my dealer video of it not picking up reflective targets as I scrolled through the settings and luckily they swapped me out. I may grab one of these new xg units now instead of waiting for the irayglr
That can depend on temps and conditions though, we are in summer here and it had been sunny that day. Fence wires can hold a bit of heat, but in winter they can get really cold.

Jeez, Nathan, what don't they know / like about feral animal removal: hypnosis so as to not show blood? Saw the original.....wasn't upset on bit?! Great way to introduce youngsters to a rural lifestyle....harsh, but realistic

Great video! I've switched to pesting here in Florida because not only is it more challenging, it's also open season year-round on several species. Quick question: do you see the picture-in-picture when you're looking through the scope or does it show up only on the recording? Looking forward to your next one! (I liked seeing the roos just hanging about)
The PiP is 100% viewable in the scope. Everything you see, is off the eyepiece on a Pulsar 👌

Hi Nathan, I did catch the original video before YT forced you to re-edit it. You always cover up the graphic stuff so I don't see what the problem is. I can't help thinking different people adjudicate these video and apply their own rules. What one person lets through, someone else puts a block on. Just keep on with what you're doing mate.

@EDGEoftheOUTBACK I placed an order for an Innorel NT85C with the ball head. Very similar, with a leg that detaches to make a monopod, and only A$244 Inc shipping and the ballhead from Amazon!! Looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for the info 😀

I didn't realise that pulsar put recoil activation in the XG50, I'd have to check. It hasn't been in my last 3 Thermion's though.

The absolute worst thing about TH-cam demonitising videos is that they put ads at the beginning and end of the video themselves but don't share the revenue. If a video is "not suitable for advertisers" then why is it OK for TH-cam to include ads and then keep the revenue? That's just a completely scummy practice.
