Action Packed Shooting Feral Pigs || Kill Shots with 6.5PRC and Pulsar Optics on a 6mm BR

  • This shooting trip I'm out hunting invasive feral pigs and foxes on private property. I've got the ATV Quadbike and two rifles. My 6.5PRC Bergara B14 HMR Wilderness and the Custom CF Tikka T3 in 6mmBR with a Pulsar Thermion 2 XP50 rifle scope. The weather conditions were terrible, I forgot my good rainwear but the hell with it, Lets go shoot some pigs !!!
    Managed to cull 28 feral pigs and 6 foxes for the property owner. There's plenty of action packed footage in this video with my GoPro head mounted and on the ATV. As usual there's also no shortage of close range kill shots with the thermal scope too !!!
    These feral invasive animals don't stand much of a sporting chance with this type of pest control / shooting / night hunting. But that's the idea......... Critters on the deck and not killing native animals and damaging agriculture is the aim of the game !!!

    Well done mate and like you said these are feral, not native and what alot don't understand is the amount of damage they do to property, livestock etc, and they cost the owners alot of money per year. When a pig does a rut as we called them in the NT they damage land and stuff is very hard to grow where they have destroyed. Foxes kill chooks etc. So yeah good work mate.

      Just to add to this thread, Not only Feral they are not indigenous , Here in Montana we have our invasive species. The law allows unlimited take on them with no permit required. Property owners still have the say on trespass and we follow their rules on their land. The State of Montana also has a way to prevent waste of game meat. you can drop it off for distribution to families in need of food.

    • @EDGEoftheOUTBACK
      @EDGEoftheOUTBACK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately we can't do that in Australia. The meat market is very regulated.

      @@EDGEoftheOUTBACK Do the pigs get eaten? Here in the UK wild boar is expensive. The pork cuts, bacon and sausages are all far superior to the processed versions from farmed swine.

      Hi, the feral pigs are just carrion here. In Australia they can carry disease and parasites. Unless you are very careful at checking these animals it's not worth eating them.

      The interesting thing was in this particular instance. The squealing pigs were not the shot ones. Just panicking animals. They don't make more noise than a thud when a 6.5PRC @ 3000fps hits one.

    I'm curious to know what sort of effect the drought had on the pig's and foxes and then if the fires did anything to bring the numbers down in the area's you frequent?
    And now that conditions have improved are there numbers quickly bouncing back?
    And as for the rabbits I know it's only a matter of time before there numbers go back since the virus isn't as effective as when first released. And knowing that it didn't have the same effect in coastal as in the dryer areas the numbers in the Hunter region where I live are starting to explode again. And we know where there going to end up, don't we.
    Btw. Great channel too bloke. Love the content keep knocking them down.

    • @EDGEoftheOUTBACK
      @EDGEoftheOUTBACK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The drought in some locations hammered the pigs. Not sure if that was actually the conditions or just the lack of cover and they got hunted easier. I'm in the lower Hunter too mate and there has certainly been a lot of rabbits around some locations and suburbs.
