I actually used to live in Evansville and used to know her(married to a distant relative briefly) years and years ago. She has been on drugs and in and out of jail and prison for years. Meth addict and everything else. I had no idea she was involved in this case until I watched this.
WHY GO TO HELP CLEAN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT?? FREE DRUGS?? Because the story doesn't make a whole lot of sense!! Like most Commenters see, She's tweaking terribly from excessive drug use So Cynthia must be an addict too. But she was brave enough to Run and get help after entering a scary bloody Crime Scene
@@jay78345I’m sure the trauma of this did nothing to help her get clean, even if she wanted to. Sitting on a body then thinking you are going to be next could drive many to self-medicate even if they never were on anything illegal to begin with. I hope better times for her in the future. When meth was first getting ‘popular,’ one of my friends mentioned this cool drug that, if she were ever to try something, she would do ‘it’ because her sister had been trying it and she’s gotten a lot of energy and lost weight. She said it was called “meth.” I asked, “is it legal?” Knowing that her sister wasn’t that concerned with living an honest life (dropped out of school in 8th grade to sit in front of the tv all day, while Mom worked. Shoplifted.) My friend said “no.” I didn’t ask any further as that was all i needed to hear to know I didn’t want to hear any more. That was in the late 80’s or early 90’s, before everyone knew about the horrible reality of meth. Why anyone wants to go down that road these days, I can only think it’s because they get into it before they learn the truth? Who would want to look like that? The meth look is so distinguishable
Before they even got 1 min into questioning her I knew she was tweaking I also knew she was gonna lie. She looks like she's been bumping illegal substances class a type for over a decade, people like that usually aren't honest even at times when they don't need to lie🤷🏼♀️
@atxgaming6998 oh she definitely had her OWN reality! She left and didn't get help. Oh she also had a gun and didn't use it even though she was so scared! She was enjoying the torture as much as her man. I've known people who were amazing people until they met meth. I think that's possibly the worst substance in altering a person 🤔
In my experience, maintaining composure is crucial. Those who allow irritation and anxiety to escalate rapidly are often unsuitable for certain roles. While anxiety can occasionally be beneficial, its necessity is rare. It is also important to distinguish between caution and anxiety. Once you learn to control your emotions, you become adept at managing challenging situations. Moreover, individuals who demonstrate composure under pressure should be appointed to handle high-stress incidents in leadership roles. When someone comments that a situation "escalated quickly," it often refers to a person who faced a traumatic event without letting it affect their performance.

They were in the upstairs apartment with their dad. This all happened in the downstairs apartment. If that dad had any idea, he wouldn't have left them inside to talk to the police. I would have been terrified for them as things escalated if I were him
I think she could tell that he was not believing her, and her methed-out brain was trying to concoct 5 different excuses and directions at once, and what was falling out of her mouth were only bits and pieces of each one
My opinion with being a mother. Never , never have anyone you don't know live in your home when you have children living in that home with you. Children first always.
I'm always telling my step dad this, that men don't have that danger radar that women do, they take their eyes off their kids when they're out in public, or put them in risky situations, because they simply don't even think about the danger. No nurturing skills whatsoever.
I don't agree with your statement/opinion, I have two kids and till this day my wife is hypnotized by her phone, in my case I'm the dad and always awareof my surroundings at all time if I can think it is the next person can do, sadly I always think the worst first, example I get on a plane and I've already seen it go through every single bad situation possible, and then I have to board the plane and face all my fears, and pretty much that's how I live life, so saying men don't have awareness is mind-blowing @effaroundfindout
Bottom line don't pick up meth addicts living at the Econolodge and invite them to live in your house with you & your kids. Leave them where they're at.
YA FOR SURE. that guy must be a User himself or he was hoping he get sexual favors from her or something. that guy is suspicious AF. He should lose his kids just for the condition of that house and for his poor chose for roommates.
I worked at a home for kids who were abused. One boy was 5 when he witnessed his dad shoot someone and drag the body out of his house. He had major issues. Many of these kids will never be right…
Yeah, it’s one of those things that you see in movies but think it’s a little exaggerated. Then you see a real life victim go through it and it’s sort of a rude awakening.

1st time I stayed on a video about brutal crimes with narration but this was very well done, highly executed in every way. Speak, clarity, lining up the story to make sense and interesting without overdoing it for clicks or stretching out the narrative with ideas that takes u away from the initial story. This is like journalism
Like journalism, but it's not actually. The constant repeating how the cops didn't expect what comes next can be considered journalistic malpractice. Not their best work
I’m all for building up suspense, but saying “it would be nothing compared to the horrors that would be revealed “ 100 times without saying what happened is just annoying
Agreed - in older videos it is the perfect amount but it is getting a little “click-baity” sounding. LOVE their thoroughness and I KNOW that I will be appalled regardless, I hope they cut out a few of those “nothing compared to…” lines.
Ya I think he said he met her in a bar and she was a st#$$r so he offered her a place to stay. With his two kids. His judgement is way off I hope cps has a good look at him and his two children perhaps there are better living conditions for them.
@yvonne8786 I know she was staying at an econo lodge where the ppl in her trade stay, where the other murderer stayed, Carey I didn't catch it. He's six feet under. She is living off tax payer money for the rest of her life. She set up a date with a couple at the home having sx with both, her bf returned and went crazy at her party players. How the heck the home owner Jason was oblivious to all this is incredulous.
@@shimmer8289 the homeowner said Carey was living in a safe house. I assume that's some type of rehab or halfway house. The homeowner also brought up pain meds in the interview. Out of the blue he said he was taking them for something. He's probably an addict too. Those poor kids.
@yvonne8786 I can't imagine him being allowed to walk away Scott free with those kids. It is to me, almost as bad as the junkies he invited into his home. Ugh
And the amount of time it must take to organize each piece of footage to tell the perfect story to keep us engaged and making a sensible timeline of events. Like they could’ve just told us Carey died in the beginning with the footage, but felt it was best to tell us when Heidi found out (though we could already assume).
Some people get used to or handle situations like that for whatever reason. Been in a few situations and I just sorta identified problems and fixed them as I could, keeps my mind busy I guess.

they do an excellent job with content collection and presentation (interrogation and police bodycam footage, interviews, 911 calls, photos, etc.) but the narration does lean on the side of over-dramatisation. It can get distracting at times.

The only person who should be allowed to stay in a child's home is someone who loves the child and will be a positive influence. Even if "Dad" didn't "know" they were tweakers, he knew they didn't love his kids & weren't going to be a positive influence... that much was obvious just from observing them. Honestly I think the timeline is just very confusing and we don't have all the information so it's really hard to judge what they could even have heard. It also happened over a much longer time period than you are probably thinking. Taking everything we learned from the video, We know Tim and Amanda got to the house around 3am. We know Cynthia was brought to the house at noon. We have no idea what time Jason went to work. They never said what time the police arrived, but we know Heidi had the gun since she picked Cynthia up and they said she had it for ~11 hours. So we can assume it was around 11pm when the cops arrived. All this informations gives us a time frame of ~20 hours for this entire scenario to unfold. Tim was killed before Cynthia got to the house so sometime between 3am and noon. If we assume Jason works a normal daytime job he probably would have left the house before 8 or 9 in the morning. That gives at least 3 hours for everything to happen where he wouldn't have even been there to hear anything. If it happened earlier in the night he would have been sleeping. We know Jason went out to eat with a date after he got off work so he probably wouldn't even have gotten home until later in the night. This leaves only a few hours where he could have heard anything and by the time he got home at night 99% of everything was over. Obviously we don't know what time he left or what time he got back, but it's easily believable he wasn't home or was sleeping when everything happened. Both Cynthia and Amanda said they never saw him. It would be easier to judge with more detail, but even making educated guesses I can see why he wouldn't have known what happened. Him and his two kids are the only ones who could have heard anything upstairs and we know very little about the kids or what they heard.
i'd wager, there was hella shouting and such regularly given the nature of those involved... i've lived around ex-cons and addicts enough to know, volatility is commonplace and nobody gives its a second thought, unless they can get something out of it.

Why would a parent, ANY PARENT, walk out of a house police had surrounded and not bring out their children? I don't care what was going on. NO LOVING PARENT would EVER, EVER do that!
He was probably torn on what to do considering there are dozens of officers with guns drawn outside... Think about it... One wrong move, and you're going to be shot. I've seen COUNTLESS videos where officers scream multiple commands, conflicting commands at once, and things go wrong, innocent people get killed... But, yeah, shouldn't have been in that situation to begin with. He probably had no idea what was happening in the house, so thought the kids were safer inside, when really, they were safer going out with him. He could have yelled to police that he had children with him or something.
I would not want to walk out with my kids to armed officers, all of them yelling, the poor kids would be scared witless, one slight wrong move out of fear and those bullets would be flying as we saw, and that man hadn't got a gun. I would tell the kids to stay there and go out alone, informing the cops there were kids in there as he did. If he had walked out with his kids followed by the man with the bent pipe, they would more than likely all be dead, no loving parent would want that.
The father acts like somebody got into a cat fight at his house. He’s not concerned one bit for the dead body, the traumatized women, or for his own children’s trauma witnessing all of this go down. Absolute insanity. If CPS wasn’t such a broken system those poor babies would be in a better home.
its really sad, i get a LOT was going on in this case, but the second he came out of the house and admitted to harboring dead bodies and tweakers in his home and came outside to talk to police leaving his children in the home with weapons and the dangerous tweakers, he should have been charged with child negligence and endangerment etc
There isn't a "better home" to give them to. "Wards of the state" I had a friend who was a ward of the state because his family had a meth kitchen in their house. He had said his grandmother and another relative had an in-law suite on his parents property where they made the meth lab. He didn't seem much better off. In his own words "at least his parents love him and feed him when he was hungry." He barely even had any clothes. But whenever we hung out he ate like he was starving. He ended up moving back in with his mom and dad and it helped him. Sometimes I pass his old group home and I wonder how the kids there are doing. If they feel like anyone loves them. The only solution to this problem that I have found is to take away the "right" to have children. It should be a privilege granted to those who can earn it.
Something else that was striking is how their dogs defended the woman who was restrained in the bedroom.. Even though they didn't know her. Dogs are excellent animals.
"One of them is lying, but which?!?" You know, the one that frantically sought out the police, initiating the entire police intervention? Or the one that lived in the house and was dating the alleged murderer?... Tough call
My heart always breaks for the animals that are trapped and forced to live in such deplorable conditions. No telling what abuse and horrors they endured while being in that house. With those people. And no telling what ever happened to them afterwards. 😩💔🥲
Some people have to make tough choices. Between two of your friends and two of your kids is a tough choice. Your kids may resent you but if he refused and they were under the influence they could get violent and then his kids are without a father. It's not so simple.
I'm only like halfway in, where they discover the woman on the bed. Look at those two sweet dogs. They stayed with her and even now warn and protect and try to comfort her. Dogs are legitimately angels with paws.
You can even see the dogs in the scene frame used for the cover of the video. This was right as Amanda had just pushed the back english staffy off of her because it was trying to get under/behind Amanda because it wanted HER to take care of the situation. There was zero protection mode there. The tan dog is averting its gaze from the officers because it doesn't want confrontation. Again, zero protectiveness. These dogs barked to release nervous tension.

People in abusive relationships do really weird things. Very often, they can feel that appeasement or cooperation is the only choice available. Even the victim said the guy was all about the mind games. Making the first woman watch him do something terrible (in this case, r@pe) is a common tactic. It reinforces the idea that the abuser can do whatever he wants. "See what I am doing? This could be you next time. It's not like anyone is going to stop me." Sort of like "See. I did this terrible thing right in front of you, and you didn't even try to stop me. You must be just like me, even if you don't know it yourself. Why else would you just sit there if you didn't WANT to watch me do this?" Another common fear is, what will happen to them if they try to get away, but fail? March 17, 1999, I have also seen the brain trauma caused by long term drug and alcohol abuse and Heidi has all of the body movements associated with the psychosis that follows long term drug abuse, known as ghost busting, crackhead moves, with cocaine and tweaking with meth use. Herion use causes what we use to call the bends when people use heroin they tend to nod out where the body just relaxes for a short period of time where they just appear to fall asleep but maintain their balance even though their head will almost touch t their knees. After years this becomes a condition to where they are bent over all the time like an elderly person.

The system really doesn't know how to deal with drug addicts except ignore/push aside the problem until it recurs. Really doesn't help that politicians often conflate addiction with dealing, sending addicts to prisons where drug abuse is rampant and often the only refuge from the physical and mental abuse that defines a prison environment. Not sure what Cynthia’s warrant was for, but her reaching out for help saved at least one woman’s life.

Sadly some parents only think or care about themselves.

Parents need to be held to a higher standard.
Children are more or less defenseless. Parents are pretty much their only defense, & the home should **absolutely** be a child's refuge.
Every child needs and deserves that.
The only person who should be allowed to stay in a child's home is someone who loves the child and will be a positive influence.

So... people were being beaten, screaming, and being r*ped downstairs, but no one upstairs heard anything?? That makes no sense at all.
Exactly there is no way no one had heard it at all.

That woman is a hundred percent as guilty as the dude. maybe more he was using her to lure people.
Bet you never said that or felf that way about a crack head.😒
She didn't just leave the house she helped keep them captive, made threats, watched them get assaulted etc. she's nearly just as bad as the guy
It's not like anyone is going to stop me."
At also permits the accusation that now she is an accomplice. Now she can tells anyone, because SHE will go to jail.
Her presence can also be used to make her feel complicit in the act. Sort of like "See. I did this terrible thing right in front of you, and you didn't even try to stop me. You must be just like me, even if you don't know it yourself. Why else would you just sit there if you didn't WANT to watch me do this?"
Another common fear is, what will happen to them if they try to get away, but fail?
Also, it didn't sound like this assault/ murder thing had happened before. I don't think she had any idea that was coming.

After years this becomes a condition to where they are bent over all the time like an elderly person.
