When my mom was in labor, her nurse was pregnant. Half way through it, the nurse went into labor. About ten years later, my dad and a guy from his work were talking about they’re kids and how the nurse went into labor. Turns out, the guy was the nurses husband.

When I was born, I was MAD. So mad. I was screaming and I tried to kick the doctor and my mom. I was a C-section premie. The first time I was truly quiet was when my dad held me. He smiled , rocking me back and forth, and then he felt something warm. I peed on him. I pranked my dad when I was 30 minutes old.

My dad missed my eldest sisters birth. He was passed out drunk at a strip club, and my mom needed a c-section. They start looking for him at the peñones (strip club in Spanish), find him, and inform him that my mom gave birth. My mom is let out of the hospital and is at my grandmothers house laying there, and he shows up. He’s so fucking drunk he picks up a pink blanket and starts rocking it and kissing it saying how beautiful his first born daughter was, crying hysterically. He then drops the blanket and starts screaming that he murdered his newborn baby; my sister was in bed, next to my mother...

I remember when I was going through a horrible depression in high school. My dad sat down with my mom and me and told me about the day I was born. I was born via c-section, since my mom had bad preeclampsia (high blood pressure) and I was also two months early. He told me that he was so scared for the both of us and said that he promised himself that if he lost us, he would take his own life. I remember him tearing up when he talked about it. He said that I could fit in the palm of his hand when I was born, and that my face was all scrunched up like a glow worm. I was 3lbs 5oz, and had to spend a month in NICU because I was so underdeveloped (though I screamed bloody murder when I was first born). But when my dad told me what he vowed on that day, it gave me chills and really put my life into perspective. After that I tried a lot harder to overcome my depression, and eventually did. Parents, or being a parent, is a special thing.

    My dad is hilarious.
My dads first daughter (with his first wife): I don't know much about this (I wasn't alive when it happened), but my dad told me his ex-wife dug her nails so deep into his leg, they cut through his jeans and his knee was bleeding like crazy. All the while, the ex was yelling insults at him. I'm guessing she wasn't the greatest woman.
My dads second daughter, me: When my mom was giving birth, my dad was telling jokes the entire time. And my mom was on meds, so she couldn't feel anything. So the whole room was just filled with laughing while I was being born. And when I finally came out, the back of my head was elongated. My dad asked, "Is that normal, or is my daughter an alien?" The doctors laughed and told him it would go down (which, thankfully, it went down the next day.)
My dads first son, my brother: He came early. Way early. And my mom was in a lot of pain. So much pain she started to bleed. A lot. And my brother cam shooting out like a rocket, but the bleeding didn't stop. So my mom was rushed to the ER to stop it. My dad had to wait in the waiting room, wondering if his wife and son would be okay. The doctor came out and quietly led my dad into a dark room. The doctor said, "You're wife and son are going to be okay." And my dad was FURIOUS. Not at my mom and brother being alive, no he was super happy about that, he was mad at the doctor for scaring him so badly. He said, "You know you're only supposed to take people into dark, quiet rooms for bad news right?" The doctor was so confused.
(These stories were told to me by my parents)

The one calculating the cost of plastic surgery reminds me of my own father. Apparently, he went to the nursery and had a look, then went back to my mother's hospital room and told her, "If that's what our babies are going to look like, we're not having any more."
When I had my first, my husband was in the room. When they handed him to my husband, to take to the nursery, he walked down the hall cradling him, with tears of joy, yelling, "It's a boy!!!" all the way down the hallway.
Years later, when my son attended the birth of his daughter, he passed out in the delivery room.
I guess it takes all kinds.

Some babies start breathing on their own and cry for whatever reason (room cold, bright lights, rough handling, the blinding, cold eye drops that they do for every baby, the Turkey baster that they shove up noses and down throats, etc-who knows) and then there is the group that breathe on their own and are very calm. It maybe a trait for calmness or maybe mom was ready and didn't need disorienting drugs, no bright lights- I don't know the reason, just know that it does happen.

I was in hospital to be induced the next morning. But I had pains in my back and down below that night. The nurse repeatedly told me I wasn't in labour, they had given me a pessary to help soften the cervix. I asked the nurse if it would put me in labour, she said no. It just helps them in the morning. So anyway, I was in pain, my husband was asleep and the nurse told me the pessary does cause a little pain.
She wouldn't believe I was in labour until my waters broke and then she thought it was wee until she noticed it was slightly green.
Took me a couple of minutes to wake up my husband and he just stared at me before realising what I said. He was a great help after that and we had a health big baby boy

(I still laugh when my mom tells me this🤣) and the Second one is my birth, I was actually the only kid out of my two sisters that had a their birth recorded on camera, literally my mom couldn't push any more cause I was a big ass baby so the nurses had to push my mom's stomach and not even in a second later I came out flying and almost hitting the ground, all of that recorded on camera and to this day I still wonder why I'm scared to fly 🤔.

My dad showed up AFTER I was born with a "It's a boy!" Balloon. Mind you, they called him after I was already born and I am a girl. My grandparents have this hilarious picture of my dad looking awkwardly at me with the balloon in his hands. My grandmother had actually baked a cake and had put blue icing and "It's a boy!" On it as well. So, to say the least, I think it runs in the family.
But to be fair, there was a 95% chance I was going to be a boy because in the ultrasound, the doctors could never tell I was a girl or a boy, but my mother was unable to have girls due to a genetic problem, (She had 8 miscarriages, all girls) and when I popped out, the doctor just asked my mum "So what's in the water you're drinking? I'd love to know". My parents had moved out of the province at the time when she was pregnant with me so everyone was super confused on how I actually survived. My mother loves retelling me the story and my dad loves telling the part that comes after. Everyone's got different bits of the story and it's great to piece them together.
Also, I'm the first girl born to my dad's side of the family in 7 generations. Fucking miracle. I have seven uncles on his side.

Before he was born, everyone in my family thought he was gonna be a girl, so they all bought baby stuff in pink.
Well, my aunt and uncle must’ve been shocked when my cousin was born and the doctor said “It’s a boy!”
He’s now 19 and is in college, and he’s been my closet friend ever since we were little.
And he had a little brother 3 years later, and I got a baby sister the year after (Who’s annoying as hell but that’s another story)

The father was in the waiting room with his best friend. The Nurse came out & gave him a pamphlet called “you & Twins”. He glanced at & passed it to his friend. The Nurse said how he had missed the point.
He went to see his wife in recovery. She opened her eyes & asked did she really have twins?
At that point the two boys were wheeled in the room. They parents looked at each other & they both asked each other how will they handle this....

At my middle brother’s birth my entire family agrees that MY reaction was the best. Apparently I was only about 15 pounds at 1 and a half when my brother was born (I was born 2 months early so I’ve always been very very small for my age), and apparently I swung the door open so hard they thought it was an adult trying to get in. Upon slamming the door open I immediately announced “Where’s my baby!” (I was talking in full sentences by 1) And marched my little self up to the bed, hopped on with the help of my dad, and immediately put my arms out for my brother. Apparently the nurse had to excuse herself because she’d never seen any sibling do something like that before and it was cracking her up.
I was 15 pounds. My newborn brother was 11 pounds. I was the same size as my newborn brother but like HELL that was gonna stop me from holding him and formally introducing myself as his big sister. My parents say their biggest regret is not having the video camera out at that event

He was drunkish when he got to the hospital and was looking for a baby with our last name but the hospital couldn’t find a baby with that name and he went ‘well where the hell did he go!’, turned out my grandmother, while in labor, forgot her married name and used her maiden name.

My father and the doctor were avidly catching up on and monitoring a football game during my birth much to my mom's dismay. It was eagles cowboys and my did was an og fan born and raised. When I had my second, I kept asking for the score between eagles and Redskins, my mother looked at my dad and said you've ruined her.
When my aunt went into labor with her second, my uncle's first, it initially seemed super organized, my uncle's very type A, so lots of charts, prep work, drills, birthplans before that phrase even existed. My aunt was getting scared as he seemed in shock as the doc was trying to help her get into a different position. She kept telling at my uncle to help, to coach her, she couldn't remember what positions or breathing exercises they'd decided on, she's screaching at him now, tells him to get the labor schedule in his notes, she doesn't know what to do and the doc had left her with just the nurse my uncle and my mom. Finally he thanks the notebook out, she's still hollering, shoves one of his diagrams in her face, points at it and screams "DO THIS! DO THIS!!!!"
Finally when I had my third, had to be a c section, scheduled, whole nine yards, so it was very calm and no crazy labor pains or sudden switch from regular delivery. As they start my husband asks if he can look, they say oh you'll be the first to hold the baby, u'll cut the cord, aren't u excited? He says well yeah, I'm excited to see you do it, like the cutting stuff! They look concerned and say noooo....you'll probably pass out, he says nope! I'm fine, see it all the time, now they look alarmed. Things get going he settles down next to me for the damn dance, they run into issues because of a partial placenta abruption, don't pay any attention to hubby, so he suddenly pops up (he's 6'2 nurse and doctors were maybe 5'6 all female so he towered) and proceeds to shout "Baby! I can see your organs! Docter was right, your uterus IS really nice" kisses me on the head and goes back to have holding and distracting. Ultimately we were mysteriously "clerical error" placed in an hospital baby and mom care training course, I'm assuming because they were concerned my husband was a cheerful and amiable Dahmer.
For the record, my hubby's a butcher, I'm fairly sure that actually makes all this worse.
