Hey, I appreciate your videos. I suffered a grade 3 ac separation 1 week ago today and go to see the surgeon on Monday to see if we need to operate. I am 25 yrs old and very active so I speculate surgery will be necessary. I am fairly nervous but your videos have helped me out. Thanks so much for posting these!!
Oh man, this comment is old haha. I did not end up getting surgery. I have a very large bump on my left shoulder now but my range of motion is back to normal and the old injury is not limiting me in any way. It does get sore from time to time (strangely, mainly when running) but other than that, everything has been great. I still run, mountain bike, hunt, rock climb, etc
Thanks for the videos, just did the same thing snowboarding yesterday, and like you I am very active, so I think I will go through with surgery. Your videos addressed a lot of concerns and ?'s I had... Thanks again 👍
Did you do it? Dogbone and tightrope with allograft by Arthrex? If so, how do you feel now? I am up next to get it done. Motocross is fun... until this happens.
Hey, i AM Brazilian. I have not found a good video to explain like your vídeos. It have helped me a Lot. My case is like your, and i decided to do a sugery too. TKS :)!
Thank you for these videos mate. Appreciate the positivity here. This is my 3rd week after surgery and still in sling for another 3 weeks. I hope to recover soon and this sling comes off.
I'm at day 49 I have my full range of motion back totally and I'm 37 . But I had lockdown procedure that I'd say is a more superior surgery than what you had.. Just the pain at the back of it like you say the tennis ball up the wall is helping. Anyone thinking of gettin it done go for it recovery is a bitch. But I'm nearly there. Thanks for the awesome vids my man they have helped me along the way 👌✌️✔️
Hi Dawit, good luck with the recovery! I do sometimes get clicks on my shoulder and they actually started a few weeks after i started pt. They have reduced in frequency as my shoulder has gotten stronger though. Hope that helps.
Thanks for all the videos men. I have the same shoulder injury and about to visit orthopedic to see if I get surgery I just want it fix so I can get back to working out.
Thanks for the video. I had an allograft reconstruction 3 weeks after grade 5 separation injury. I'm probably pushing PT to the extremes because I can do push ups on knees (arms will shake), 15 lbs dumbbell presses and running 2-3 miles. The bouncing on the shoulder will definitely make my shoulder sore the rest of the day. My injury happened at the snow park while snowboarding. If I can play tennis at day 79 like you, I would be super happy...
Hey man i'm 17 and have a similar surgery coming up on March 20th. How are you feeling coming up on a year? Also how long till you were comfortable driving?
It’s good, would say it’s back to 100% but I still have some weird feeling in certain positions sometimes. That being said I have full mobility still can lift weights, play sports etc.
Hi Sam, I currently have a grade 3 separated shoulder and I am looking into surgery. Do you have and update for us? How are you doing now several years after the surgery? Was it worth doing? I would love some insight into this. There seems to be a lot of contradicting information online regarding shoulder separation and the best route to take for recovery. Thanks
Ivan Bošnjak hey man. the arm is still doing well. my arm is pretty strong now, maybe 80-90% of what it was. the only lyndsey thing that has set me back is playing squash which has quick snapping motions. the scar is still there and a little less noticeable but I think it looks kind of cool haha.
i sky dive for a living and my grade 3 has really been giving me issues lately. i plan to stay active for as long as i can and want to continue my career. do you thing getting the surgery was the right decision in the long run?
Ryan Davis I be it it is tough with the harness pulling on your shoulder but I hope you can find a way to work with it. I went with the surgery because I wanted by anatomy to be as close to "normal" as possible. hopefully thats best in the long run but it's only been 8 months so we will see!
Sam - I had this surgery recently and I'm about 2 months into my recovery. Do you remember when you were two months into YOUR recovery if you had a lot of cracks and pops internally. I have a great mobility and flexibility in the shoulder, but it pops and cracks a lot. The PA I visited said I'm only halfway there, and that I probably am just feeling a lot of scar tissue from the time in the sling. Your thoughts?
Hey Sam, had the surgery done 12 weeks ago. Currently my mobility is pretty good, but my stability still isn’t that great. Still have clicking/popping noises in the joint but little pain after working out. Was this normal for you? Thanks for your videos!
Hey buddy today was 2 months post surgery for me and the range is almost 100% except i do hear a lot of popping and clicking when im raising and lowering my arm. Most of the pain i feel now isnt even from the ac joint, its from my deltoid muscle. When i make the motion of throwing a ball, that rotation is painful for the deltoid, no pain in the ac joint which is strange. I've been using the lacrosse ball to try and massage my shoulder but its really painful and numbs my arm. I think the muscles are just really tight. If i raise my arm straight and laterally and twist it like i was pouring out a glass of water, the pain i feel is all in my deltoid. Not sure if thats normal, but atleast the ac joint isnt in any pain whatsoever
@@adampampalon3840 Yeah I had the same thing. The deltoid is weak and tight from being in the sling for so long. It just needs more time. Keep doing the exercises. I was back lifting weights about 6 months after the surgery. Going to the gym 3-4 days a week now. I am 8 months post op and the only issues I'm having are with bench press. There is non-painful clicking when I do weighted presses. Pushups are fine and Shoulder weighted press feel surprisingly normal. I just have to modify my workout routine and not overdo it on the chest press stuff. I have had some pain in the surgical area after doing too much heavy pressing.

Hi, I had the same surgery but with a artificial ligament instead. But my colarbone is way to low due too reduction during surgery with tightrope and 5 mm lower than acromio Does it go up with time?
Open. But I will need a second surgery because the tightrope is too small. And the clavicle is too low. It is about 6 months now and because of that I canùt move only 50% and it hurts when more because of extra contact. So they will rmove it and shave the clavicle... I hope the result will be good after.
