Love this signing and the Sanchez one. Now fingers crossed, they pull off a Christmas miracle and keep Burnes or immediately replace him with Fried. Still would need bullpen help, but I'd sleep so much better this holiday season.
Been a fan of Broneil since his Cardinals day. If he can stay healthy he can be in the MVP conversation. He was on pace last year when he collided with Devers. Still 31 HRs in just 113 games is impressive.
Glad youre feeling better Connor!! I honestly wish the fanbase would give it a chance before complaining about it. Yes I will miss Tony without a doubt but he earned his money and i would rather get a player like Tyler and have more money to bring back Corbin and keep Gunnar and Adley Orioles for life.
Been a Broneil fan since his Cardinals days. Guy is a perennial MVP talent if he can stay on the field. He was on pace before he had the collision with Devers. Still, 31 HRs in 113 game’s isn’t shabby at all.
@michaeltolley6123 dude I've been saying that for years, they dont move runners along, too man strikeouts because they are trying tit HRS , that's the bone head manager ! Brandon HYDEOUS is the worst manager in baseball.
Connor, good to hear you again, I’ve been checked out so great to hear you again! Great analysis, i’m looking positively! Solid replacement for anthony
I’m not an O’s fan but I live in O’s country and I know there was a lot of optimism about having a new owner with money but this feels like a very O’s kind of deal. O’Neill feels like a slightly cheaper and worse version of Santander that simply won’t stay healthy. You get O’Neill for probably 4-5 million a year cheaper per year but being right handed and very injury prone, I’d be surprised if this deal actually moves the needle at all in the end
Connor, thanks veyr much for weekend podcast. You are doing a great job. That said, I disagree with you on the claim that O'Neill singing will put Kjerstadt on the bench. As you pointed out, O'Neill has problems staying on the field. Threfore, is think he should be given regular rest, maybe as little as 100-110 games for the year. That gives Kjerstadt 50 or 60 games as the righfielder starter, and I think he could play another 60 games, as a replacement for Cowser in left,, if he still shows problems with changeups and slow stuffs, and for Mullins if he misses time or has problems, with Cowser moving to center, and Kjerstadt in left. He has tremendous potential and I think he should be given a full chance.
Very streaky hitter and has had injuries almost every year . Very very risky with his past but another all or nothing player which imo. we already have too many of those in our lineup . We needed right handed power badly , but has poor on base % so I don’t know how I feel about this acquisition .
There's troubling news floating around which indicates that they're reluctant to sign FA pitchers who have received qualifying offers because they'll lose a draft pick. If that's still their mindset then they need a whole new front office.
MLB network flashed a quote on the screen last night from Elias where he stated that this was not an issue for him this year. Knowing that he would get a draft pick for Tony when he signs elsewhere as well as Burnes if he were to sign elsewhere evens things out I guess for making free agent acquisitions.
Budget-friendly, adds flexibility in the outfield, and doesn’t require a full-time commitment, allowing to slot into a complementary role. Plus, great opportunity for Herstad to continue developing and earn his spot as a full-time starter. It’s a win-win for depth and long-term potential.
How does O'Neill go from $5.85 million to $16.5 million in one year? And his strikeouts, speed, fielding numbers are all worsening? I don't get it. Sounds like "he who shall not be mentioned". I hope I am wrong this time.
So, the hope is O'Neill has a great season and the O's win the world series and he opts out of his deal to score a bigger contract? Quite a win-win scenario if you ask me.
Could we see the orioles go out and get someone with a qualifying offer since we’ll get a pick back for Santander since we more than likely won’t be signing him👀👀
More or less. I don’t have a lot of faith in us getting an Ace or doing MUCH else. I hope they prove me wrong though. If I was a betting man Soto takes the 750K from the Mets, the Yankees sign Tony Taters for a little above his market value.
Yeah.... your left field wall changes better be conformed to him. He has 4 total games experience in Baltimore and it's a .188 avg with like a .375 OPS. This is huge to fill the Santander hole, I went live last night on this but, man, I still think you are missing something losing Santander.
Not too familiar with O'Niell so I really can't comment on what the got. But I like the deal. It don't break the bank and he can opt out in 25 if he can get more money elsewhere so the O's ain't really stuck for years and years with a player who didn't pan out. A 3 year deal for a productive guy (looking at his line) approaching 30 is right in my ballpark. I guess they think he fits in with the high character guys. Let's hope they get that 90 deg angle mess in center field straightened out. They radio guys got their panties in a bunch cuz they didnt spend $770M on Soto...OMG
I think this means, Tony Taters is gone. I sincerely hope we grab up the available arms while we can. Or trade with Seattle. Otherwise, we’re kinda fucked..
Not the bat I was hoping for.... Would have liked a better on base contact kind of guy, O'Neill seems like a lot of the hitters we have already.... All or nothing. And if this is to replace Santander it seems like a downgrade
And as usual, just because we have a new owner, we're still cheap and we're not spending any money to get any decent free agents. All the good creations are gand all we keep signing are washed up players
His health has always been an issue, and usually that does not get better with age; it gets worse. Here is one thing that could help him, as described by the great Willie Stargell - get deep rest daily. That gives the body a chance to repair itself. The technique he used is Transcendental Meditation. [2 minute video] th-cam.com/video/cFoJfEKmrA0/w-d-xo.html
I trust Mike, but I'm not falling out of my seat for this deal. Career .240ish hitter with some pop. I'm waiting for that contact hitter...
Love this signing and the Sanchez one. Now fingers crossed, they pull off a Christmas miracle and keep Burnes or immediately replace him with Fried. Still would need bullpen help, but I'd sleep so much better this holiday season.
Or sign both on 2-3 years each.
I hope they sign Corbin Burnes
Been a fan of Broneil since his Cardinals day. If he can stay healthy he can be in the MVP conversation. He was on pace last year when he collided with Devers. Still 31 HRs in just 113 games is impressive.
Still need another bat.... Teoscar Hernandez?
@frankisfunny2007 both those pitchers won't sign for less than six years minimum.
Love the Oneil signing. He's a stud

@@Reklesspat tony was sucker for high fast ball.

Not going to like the strike outs. Good things happen when you put the ball in play.
We need starting pitching and guys that get on base.
Orioles need to learn to play small ball Like The royals and quit relying on home runs
@michaeltolley6123 dude I've been saying that for years, they dont move runners along, too man strikeouts because they are trying tit HRS , that's the bone head manager ! Brandon HYDEOUS is the worst manager in baseball.
@@stephenbeattie8342years? Last year orioles were great in risp last season hope they get back to it

Immediately had to check locked on Orioles when I heard the news! What about Sanchez as well? And the update on Corbin? Gosh I hope we can keep him
Corbin won't sign until Soto signs.

Small time move for an owner who treats this as a small town team.
I feel badly for my fellow Orioles fans.

Use the money saved on two starting pitchers.
VERY good expose. I still don't know how to feel overall about O'Neill, but he doesn't sound like a bust.
So, the hope is O'Neill has a great season and the O's win the world series and he opts out of his deal to score a bigger contract? Quite a win-win scenario if you ask me.
So if he has a good season, he can leave for a better deal? Tyler, we hardly knew ya!
Thanks for the analysis.

They already signed new back up catcher.
Gary Sanchez
A great deal by the Orioles
So does this mean santander gone

It won't do the.
Club, a bit of good that they signed O'Neill. He signed for 3 years but he's going to opt out after the first year

Why can’t O’Neill play LF, Cowser play CF and kjerstad play RF?
the home runs aren't worth it. specializes in strikeouts and injuries. as a red sox fan, you can have him.
It's just a Santander replacement. I need more
I think this means, Tony Taters is gone. I sincerely hope we grab up the available arms while we can. Or trade with Seattle. Otherwise, we’re kinda fucked..
Sign an ACE or 2025 is a waste
Not the bat I was hoping for.... Would have liked a better on base contact kind of guy, O'Neill seems like a lot of the hitters we have already.... All or nothing. And if this is to replace Santander it seems like a downgrade
nice downgrade. hell yeah let's rock
Wow. He’s horrible. Redsox fan trust me on that one. 31 homers Why do you think we didn’t resign him
And as usual, just because we have a new owner, we're still cheap and we're not spending any money to get any decent free agents. All the good creations are gand all we keep signing are washed up players
As a Jays fan I'm stoked the Orioles signed him. I was apprehensive he would be a Jay.
As a Yankee fan good glad you guys got him. He's a righty hitting Chris Davis.lol..And Gary Sanchez should be in AAA.
Connor the company man lol. Never says anything.
LOL, I hope Elias resigns what a joke of a GM. Same lies year after year.
God you repeated himself about a hundred times to start to show we get it it's Tyler O'Neill
Tyler O'Neill?? really? im tellin yu orioles could have done much better 1st off he will miss 40-80 games every season
Terrible signing! Dude is always injured and Ks too much.
Ha, he's not good.
We need guys who can get on base with speed. Slow az$ team. They can't generate runs if their life depends on it.
Yo
An Irishman in Boston? What could go wrong?
