I'm still lost on why they picked up O'Hearn's option. This team struggles to manage its DH position and can't seem to squeeze in players like Mayo and Kjerstad because of O'Hearn's spot in the lineup. OHearn is a mediocre OF'er and this season was probably more of what we can expect from him. As well, the O's are super-saturated with LH bats.

I am not a big fan of Anthony Santander, but can the Orioles get a better overall right-handed outfielder (batting average, RBIs and HRs) for less money than Tony will command? I would take a guy who could hit 20 HRs and bat 260 or up with some walks. Can you work on a list of possible options? However, I don't think the Orioles can re-sign Santander for $75 million for three years. I see him drawing over $100 million or higher. I think your analysis of Coulombe not being resigned is spot on.

Would love a breakdown on the Gerrit Cole opt in hilarity from Monday too, he’s got the same agent as Gunnar, Adley, and Holliday right? Not sure if that’s something we can expect once their contracts hit too.

I think they plan to use Akin more in high leverage. If you look at his underlying metrics they are strong. Also, I'm hoping they add a high velocity late inning lefty. I'll beat the AJ Puk drum again here. I'm sort of hoping they make a deal for Jordan Montgomery and take on all his salary, and because of that they can get Puk included. Pick up the club option on Coulombe. The biggest no-brainer in the history of Oroles no-brainers.

If Selby can locate the good stuff in the strike zone he has a future. BaseballSavant says his fastballs are strikes 47% of the time. And his other pitches are even less likely to be strikes.

If Bautista comes back anywhere even close to what he was, the Orioles seem to have a very good ballpen lined up. They do need at least one top flight starter an hope some of there other guys can make it back.

Is there any explanation as to why Jack Flaherty has been a rock solid starter for L.A this season and was awful for the birds last year? Change mix of pitches? Delivery? Could it be something within the orioles franchise that was lacking, or a great bit of coaches/trainers for the dodgers. I'd like to know

Using the eyeball methodology, O'Hearn has been among a small group of consistent hitters with a good eyie on the Orioles. Westburg, Adley and Gunner. So he's clearly one of the guys they need to bring back. Three keys to the 2025 Orioles, will be whether Jackson Holiday can earn his way on his team, Kjerstadt can fulfill the promise he has shown, and that Cowser can return to his first-half 2024 performance.

It makes sense to pick up the option. If he flops, not a big investment. If he continues to play well he's got value in the lineup or possibly as a trade piece during the year if they need ABs for guys like Mayo/Kjerstad. On a related note, my guess is they will sign a guy like Randal Grichuk, Tommy Pham or Jurickson Profar to give them a RH option in the outfield, especially if Santander leaves. Guys like that have experience and will only be short term investments, and offer a way to give regular ABs to guys like Kjerstad.

I think hes an easy lock. The clutch factor speaks for itself

With those stats, why not move him to the top of the lineup.

This is just another example of why it's stupid to spend big money on relievers. Just look at Yanks, Cousins and Hill were DFA'd by the friggin' White Sox this season. And Luke Weaver was one of the worst pitchers I saw last season when he was with Reds.
