Thank you for this...very helpful. I tried it but I noticed that it saved as Gif instead of PNG even though it used the PNG settings in the saving process... can you help out with how I can correct this.. thanks
After you enter the "Save for legacy" export option, there is an option ono the top left side of the dialog box which allows you to choose from different export file types. You can choose the png option from there.

This was so helpful thank you! Question, how do you get it from your computer to instagram? Are you sending the pics to your phone?
Simple! you can access instagram from your computer and upload from there or send the photos to your phone and upload using your phone
I think you might have to switch your browser into tablet emulation mode, then upload to IG
