    Theres actually an even simpler way to slice your picture. You can make 1 single slice that covers the entire canvas, then right click on the slice icon in the top left of your picture, and divide slice, then you type into how many divisions youd want to slice your picture into. That requires no grids, no precision and no math. You just have to make sure your canvas dimensions are spot on. Hope that helps anyone who reads this.

    Didn’t see a comment here on this technique. But I figured out after trying this video. If you slice select the whole image and right flick (or two finger tap) after it’s snapped to the two vertical edges. Right click and say divide slice. Can just say divide into 2,3,4, etc depending on your pixel dimensions it should be perfect.

    Hey Dunna! Love your videos and how you deliver your educational content. Just a photoshop tip, when determining the size of your canvas, you can actually just type 1080*5 for the width, then change the 5 to whichever number of pictures you want. Saves you on some of the math you have to do.

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

  • @JerodBeeson
    @JerodBeeson 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    As someone else said, you can do new guide layout and set the number. BUT then when you select the slice tool, there is a button in the top panel that says "slice from guides" (or something close to that) and it will slice right on all your guide lines so you don't have to manually try to slice right on the 1080 lines, it does it automatically for you.

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah! That’s what I’m finding out haha! How do I get all that time back lol. Thanks for sharing!

  • @krishnaakkaram
    @krishnaakkaram 3 ปีที่แล้ว +80

    FYI,
    For the slices you can try this, since you already had grids on, you can go back grides and clear the existing grid. Now make a new grid but this time around don't choose the horizontal grid, just choose the vertical one, on how many you want (for this video it's 5). Now go to the slice tool and in the above toolbar, you have an option called slice from guides and voila. You have your slices cut without zooming it for each slice.

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yeah the trick there is that it’s “guides” not “grids”. I’ve been using grids this whole time but a few comments on this video have pointed out that guides will work better! Cheers!

    correct me if i'm wrong, but you can create guide lines in the drop down menu, 4 guides at 1080px apart, and then slice from guides and you'll have your 4 slices to create the 5 separate images. that should be faster!

    After slicing 8* I am limited to a width of 8192 instead of 8*1080=8640 and a height of 1280 instead of 1350.
    When slicing the Images they are perfect 8640 by 1350.

The best way I can describe is is when I adjust the size it seems to be a "fixed" sizing where it starts to crop out parts of the photo. Is their a way to adjust the size of the photos so it doesn't start cropping out the photo and just makes it bigger or smaller without losing parts of the photo? Quick question, how could you do this but with a video in the middle slice (for example)?

    To save some time, while entering the projects Height and Width you can use basic math operations to do the math in Ps. For example, Width: 1080*5 will output 5400. Small trick but it saves a lot of time after many projects! This works in other Adobe apps as well. I use it in Ai frequently.
